How to remove autocorrelation from a time series?
Dear R users,
someone knows how to remove auto-correlation from a frequencies time series?
I've tried by differencing (lag 1) the cumulative series (in order to have only positive numbers) , but I can't remove all auto-correlation.
If it's useful I can send my db.
x <- # autocorrelated series
new1<-cumsum(x)
new2<-diff(new1,lag=1,differences = 1)
acf(new2) #

Adding two files into one and vlookup
I have two files with dates and prices in each. The number of rows in each of
them will differ. How do I create a new file which contains data from both
these files? Cbind and merge are not helpful. For cbind because the rows are
not the same replication occurs. Also if I have similar data how do I write
a vlookup kind of function? I am giving an example below:
Say Price1 file contains the

VLOOKUP in R - tried everything.
I am attempting to emulate the VLOOKUP function from Excel in R.
I want to compare one column (coll.minus.release) with another
(release.days) to get the number of parasitoid released at that time
(TotalParasitoids).
for example:
coll.minus.release release.days ParasitoidTotal

vlookup type function
Hi
I''m looking for an Excel Vlookup type function in R.
Example:
list <- c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
base <- c(2.2,3,5.2)
What I want is, for each number in base, the highest value in list,
which is equal to or less than the number in base
So the results would be:
base ? ? ? ? list
2.2 ?------> 2
3 ? ?------> 3
5.2 ?------> ?5
Thanks for your help!

vlookup in R?
Hi R-users,
I would like to search for the values of seq that match my rand values. In excel I will use =VLOOKUP(G2,$E$2:$F$32,2). For example, for rand=.262 it will give me approximately seq=120 and rand=0.964293344, seq=460 and etc.

tc ingress + iptables mark problem
Hi guys , i am starting to "play" with qos in linux. Well , i am
trying to setup an ingress filter but i do not know why it is not
working.
tc add qdisc dev eth0 ingress
tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 1 handle 1 fw
police rate 160kbit burst 256kbit drop flowid :1
After that :
iptables -A PREROUTING -t mangle --sport 80 -j MARK --set-mark 1

"Holes" in a data frame with time intervals
Good morning,
I am facing a problem very easy to solve with a program, but not too
easy (at least IMHO) with a "declarative" approach.
I have a dataframe df with some information about bank branches with a
validity time associated (start date/end date, format YYYY-MM-DD) to
some attributes (for example number of employees assigned).
The following example will clarify this

Quick question on merging two time-series of different frequencies
Hi,
A quick beginner's question. I have two time series, A with
daily data, and another B with data at varying frequencies, but mostly
annual. Both the series are sorted ascending.
I need to merge these two series together in the following way: For any
entry of A, the lookup should match with B until we find an entry of B
that's larger than A's.
For all A[i], i = 1,...,N and B[j],

Data frame "pivoting"
Dear R experts,
I am trying to solve this problem, related to the possibility of
changing the shape of a data frame using a "pivoting-like" function.
I have a dataframe df of observations as follows:

A1 2007 P2 V2
A1 2007 P3 V3
A1 2008 P1 V10

models for polytomous data
Hi all
I have a dataset whose response is a categorical variable of the
ordinal scale type (6 levels).
I'm interested in building classification models, and I'm wondering if
there is something implemented in R (or its packages) that I'm not aware
of, to treat the ordinal scale measurements straightforwardly. I can think
of the alternative of building a conditional (hierarchical)

lookup in R - possible to avoid loops?
Hello!
Hope there is a nifty way to speed up my code by avoiding loops.
My task is simple - analogous to the vlookup formula in Excel. Here is
how I programmed it:
# My example data frame:
set.seed(1245)
my.df<-data.frame(names=rep(letters[1:3],3),value=round(rnorm(9,mean=20,sd=5),0))
my.df<-my.df[order(my.df$names),]
my.df$names<-as.character(my.df$names)
(my.df)

IMQ KERNEL PANIC 2.6.17.14 AND 2.6.21.1 No chain/target/match by that name
After starting to shape local traffic now i am getting a lot of kernel
panics in tcp_retransmit, so i decided to update my kernel from
2.6.17.14 to 2.6.21.1 , the problem is that after that i get:
# iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j IMQ --todev 0
iptables: No chain/target/match by that name
so i can not redirect ttraffic to IMQ device.
and modules are loaded.

color of opposite sign values in filled.contour
Dear R-helpers,
I'm plotting geophysical data in the form of contours using
"filled.contour". The display would be much more effective if the areas
with negative values could be color coded
by -- say -- "cold colors" in the range of blue to green, and conversely
the areas with positive values got plotted with "warm colors", from yellow
to red.
Right now if I use
