Hmisc::pstamp, mfcol, and spacing
I am trying to make a nice 2x1 plot and add a timestamp with comment. The pstamp function from Hmisc works nicely when mfcol=c(1,1), but when mfcol=c(2,1), the stamp winds up in the wrong place: > require('Hmisc') > opar <- par(mfcol=c(2,1)) > plot(1:10) > title(main="MAIN Title") > plot(1:20) > title(main="Another Title") > pstamp("normal

EWMA in fMultivar
Hello, I would like to use the function EWMA() in the fMultivar Package and I have a series of data x, which is the returns series. Basically, I would like to get the variance estimation using EWMA. I am trying something like EWMA(x, lambda) and I have a couple of questions: Should x be the returns series or price series in my case? When I get the result, there are the same numbers of data

A question about is.interger function
Hi, All I am using is.integer function to examine whether an object is an integer or not, but I get such results, > x<-3 > is.integer(x) [1] FALSE > x<-3:4 > x [1] 3 4 > is.integer(x) [1] TRUE Seems that the is.integer cannot handle scalers, > is.integer(5) [1] FALSE > is.integer(5:6) [1] TRUE Is this a bug in R or I made some mistakes? I am using R 2.2.1 under

plot a new picture against an old one to see the difference between them
Hello, useR:, Suppose I have two plots made by using contour() function, say Cont1 and Cont2 respectively. They have slightly difference because of the two slightly different data I used. I want to see the difference between them so I want to plot Cont2 on Cont1, are there any methods to plot it without filling the frame of Cont1 totally of Cont2. I mean, how I can integreate the two plots

Position of a specific letter in a character string
Dear useR, x is a character string In R: > x<- '32159_3' Which function could enable me to determine the position of underscore in x? In here, the underscore is on the 6th digit of x. --- Yours Sincerely Leon [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Order by the columns
Dear useR, I have a data matrix, it has n columns, each column is a two-level variable with entires -1 and +1. They are randomly generated, now I want to order them like (for example, 5 columns case) - - - - - - - - - - ................. (first several rows are the samples with all variables in low level) + - - - - + - - - - .............................

[LLVMdev] Mapping of class derivated and interfaces

Umm ok, but i've the strange feeling that i'm missing something.. First a simple question: getelementptr with

[LLVMdev] Mapping of class derivated and interfaces

You'll notice that your function doesn't take an object of type base, but a pointer to it. This is important - in a language such as LLVM where actual structures can be

standard errors for orthogonal linear regression
Could someone please help me by giving me a reference to how one computes standard errors for the coefficients in an orthogonal linear regression, or perhaps someone has some R code? (I would accept a derivation or formula, but as a former teacher, I know how that can rankle.) I tried to imitate what's done in the code for lm() but went astray somewhere and got nonsense. [LLVMdev] Mapping of class derivated and interfaces
Hi! i'm tring to figure out how classes and dependencies can be mapped to llvm. I've read on docs that nesting can be used: class base { int Y; }; class derived : base { short Z; }; becomes: %base = type { int } %derived = type { %base, short } That's ok, but now the question is: how do i encode a function that takes "base" type so that it also takes "derived"

Choices from a matrix
Could someone please suggest a more clever solution to the following problem than my loop below? Given X a 2xN matrix X, and I a k-subset of N, Generate the (2^k)xN matrix Y with columns not in I all zero and the other columns with all choices of an entry from the first or second row of X. For example, with X <- matrix(1:8, nrow=2) I <- c(1,3) X is 1 3 5 7 2 4 6 8 and Y should be 1 0 5

COM dates (was origin and "origin<-" in chron)
I was just looking for an easy way to convert between COM datetime and chron datetime (both ways.) I found examples on the list, but they involved origin. Does anyone have functions for converting COM datetime <-> chron datetimethat work "safely"? David L. Reiner > -----Original Message----- > From: Gabor Grothendieck [mailto:ggrothendieck@gmail.com] >

unique, but keep LAST occurence
?unique says Value: An object of the same type of 'x'. but if an element is equal to one with a smaller index, it is removed. However, I need to keep the one with the LARGEST index. Can someone please show me the light? I thought about reversing the row order twice, but I couldn't get it to work right (My data frame has 125000 rows and 7 columns, and I'm

Gamatronic company
Greetings to all developers of the Network UPS Tools, and Merry Christmas greetings to those of you who celebrate! I have been looking in to your work from time to time, and I am very impressed with your efforts. I think this is a good time to officially supply the required information about Gamatronic products to the community. Furthermore, I would like to know how our company may contribute

Can I find the datetime an object was last assigned to/saved?
I'm using v 1.9.1 under Windoz XP. Can I do the equivalent of "ls -l" on my R objects? R's "ls()" lists only the names. Thanks! David L. Reiner Rho Trading 440 S. LaSalle St -- Suite 620 Chicago IL 60605 312-362-4963 (voice) 312-362-4941 (fax) [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

help files and vignettes
Hi all, I'm writing a vignette for my package, and I would like to include some of the package help files in there as well. Is there an easy way of doing so? I tried using R CMD Rdconv to generate latex files from .Rd files but I am not sure how to include these into a .Rnw file (ie the vignette source). The resulting file from Rdconv do not readily compile using latex ... The other option I

can one evaluate an expression in a comment? (or insert results into history?)
I'd like to insert (for example) the current datetime into a comment so it goes into the history. I can of course cut and paste the results of date() into a comment line, but it would be easier and more powerful to be able to type something like > hstamp() and have it go into the history. More generally, I would like to put any expression to be evaluated into this function. For
