And then I did the same for ''xyz'' and ran the server but it failed. both abc.rb and

Flickr demo screencast
Hi, I''m new to Ruby and Ruby on Rails. Yesterday I just received the Agile Web Development with Rails book. Now I wanted to recreate the Flickr demo screencast (http://www.rubyonrails.com/screencasts) just for fun to see it live. But unfortunately when I start my server I get some warnings: g5:~/ruby/flickr mw$ ruby script/server => Booting lighttpd (use ''script/server

rsync hangs in cron (not SSH-problem)
This is the case - mounted Inetpub's windows-webserver on /mnt/web1 /mnt/web2, etc. - rsync this to local dir: rsync -av --delete /mnt/web1 /mass/kuurne/day rsync -av --delete /mnt/web2 /mass/kuurne/day etc.. - when logged in, everything works (I do see some errors about non-existing files, but rsync won't stop. When used this command in cron 00 01 * * * rsync -av --delete

Public Directory not accessible
Been trying to deploy my rails app on Redhat ES3, Apache2, FastCGI with Plesk all day. Fun stuff. Basically, the issue that I can not solve has to do with access to /public. None of my images, javascripts, etc. are working in the app. Trying to access any of these results in a 404 (or routing error if in developer mode). Oddly, the 404 file it displays is -- you guessed it -- in fact *in*

Install config: lighttpd dead but pid file exists
I''m trying to run rails on RHED (centos 4) by following this tutorial: http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/RailsOnRHEL and something is gone a bit astray during the install process that is not allowing lighttpd \ apache to run rails on the web. Since i''m running Centos, I should mention I''m NOT running SELinux. As it is, i''m at a total loss as to why

Setting the user for FastCGI processes?
I''d like to run the FastCGI as a different user than the Apache2 server (www-data on Debian). I take it this is possible in some way with suExec2, but so far I haven''t figured out how to do it. Rewrite problem?
I''m not able to access anything in public, everything seems to be going through the rails router. As a result, I can''t get to stylesheets or javascript. I''m not quite clear if this is a .htaccess problem, or a router problem. I eliminated the "catchall" route, so the last route is map.connect '':controller/:action/:id'' My .htaccess file

hackish error handling
I''ve got a block of code that''s turning out.. well - just plain ugly. So i know I must not be doing it the Ruby way. The main problem I''m having is in dealing with handling errors - and just not finding much Rails documentation that gives a deeper understanding of how to handle errors in Rails (outside of several docs on the catch-all''s) the main method
