GREP - Choosing values between two borders
Hello, I import datas from an file with: readLines But I need only a part of all measurments of this file. These are between two borders "START" and "END". Can you tell me the syntax of grep(), to choose values between two borders? My R Code was not succesful, and I can't finde anything in the help. Thank's a lot. data file import - numbers and letters in a matrix(!)
Hello, I have a problem with the import of a date file. I seems verry tricky. I have a text file (end of the mail). Every file has a different number of measurments witch start with "START OF HEIGHT DATA" and ende with "END OF HEIGHT DATA". I imported the file in a matrix but the letters before the numbers are my problem (S= ,S=,x=,y=). Because through the letters and the

Get the difference of values to their own median value
Hello, I've got a matrix (mail end) with the colnames x, y, z. In this matrix are different measurements. x and y are risign coordinates. With the following line I got the median value of z for all "x" AND "y" witch are the same (not every measurment in my list hast the same number of "x" and "y" values. Sometimes lines are missing. >MEDIAN <-

"deparse" with "nlines" argument produces empty elements (PR#13299)
Full_Name: Kamil Barto? Version: 2.8.0 OS: windows xp Submission from: (NULL) (212.33.92.187) According to the "deparse" function documentation "nlines" is the *maximum* number of lines to produce. But, when "nlines" argument is supplied, it produces exactly nlines of result, and the result contains empty elements at the end. Example: >

coordinates from locator function in POSIXct format
Dear R-list, I have a plot with y-axis corresponding to wind measurments and x-axis with date-time information. When I want to identify some extrem wind events in the wind-curve, I use locator() to get the exact date-information, by clicking in the points in graph I?m interested in. I get in the R console the x and y coordinates. The x coordinates are not in a POSIXct format, I guess R is

Get the: "standard deviation" and "mean value" of 3D-measurments
Hello, I have got a numeric matrix with three colums of a few measurments. My x and y coordinates are rising numbers. The z coordinate is the measurment. In my matrix if have got ~6000 sorted values for one measurments multiplied with the number of measurments. An example in the end. My aim is to get the "mean values" and "standard deviation" for each value between the

strange (to me) p-value distribution
I'm working with a genomic data-set with ~31k end-points and have performed an F-test across 5 groups for each end-point. The QA measurments on the individual micro-arrays all look good. One of the first things I do in my work-flow is take a look at the p-valued distribution. it is my understanding that, if the findings are due to chance alone, the p-value distribution should be uniform. appending
All, In the function below I have 24 individuals and 6 calculations per individual. The 6 calculations are collected each time in a 1:24 loop when calculating "delta". I'd like to collect all 144 = 24*6 calculations in one vector ("delta.patient.comb"). The function works as is via indexing, but is there an easier way to collect the measurements via appendinng the 6

Newbie - Summarize function
Dear R Users, I have searched through the archives but I am still struggling to find a way to process the below dataset. I have a dataset that has stratum and plot identifier. Within each plot there is variable (Top) stating the number of measurments that should be used to to calculate the mean to the largest "top" elements within one of the vectors (X). I would like to process

problem adding columns to matrix
Hi all, i purchased a copy of the book Morphometrics with R by Springer. at the end of each chapter there are exercises to train what you just read and (hope) learned... so i have this problem: Define a hypothetical data frame containing five measurments normally distributed(size, head, pectoral, area, weight) for four individuals (named ind1, ind2, etc). ADD A COLUMN corresponding to the

Vector manipulation, for loop needed?
Hi, I have a vector of time in days t<-1:48. I have observations and the day they were recorded. I also have a vector, S which takes different values depending on which day the observation was recorded. For example if on day 1 all in vector S get a value of 46/48, on day 2 get 42/48, day 3 38/48, decreasing by 4/48 each time until day 12 gets the value 2/48. Then for any day greater than 12

bug report: apcsmart (WIN) 940-0024C connect fail, problem with command 'E'
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, I have several old, yet functioning APC Smart-UPS (Model 600LS, Part AP600I, Firmware 6JI, no EEPROM, from 1991). They are not supported by Powerchute any more. I run NUT 2.6.5-4 on Windows XP SP3. I use COM1 port with cable 940-0024C. The connection fails with APC Smart protocol driver 3.0 (2.6.3-3534:3540M), APC command table version 3.0 or higher - it works with APC

Tapply for Group Specific Means and Proportions
UseRs, I am working on a dataset (see small example below) where individuals were followed on a specific date-time combo and multiple repeated measurements were taken (e.g., height in meters, behavior class in 2 letter code). Structural Equation Model
Hello all! I want to estimate parameters in a MIMIC model. I have one latent variable (ksi), four reflexive indicators (y1, y2, y3 and y4) and four formative indicators (x1, x2, x3, x4). Is there a way to do it in R? I know there is the SEM library, but it seems not to be possible to specify formative indicators, that is, observed exogenous variables which causes the latent variable. Thanks,
