Fixed zeros in tables
Hello All R Users,
Function loglm() in library MASS can be cajoled to accomodate
structural zeros in a cross-classification table. An example from
Fienberg demonstrates how this can be done.
My question is: Can the function glm() perform the same task? Can
glm() estimate a log-linear model with fixed zeros like loglm()?
Thanks for your help,
Andrew

(no subject)
Good morning,
I wrote a little code in R which has to show two graphs but I can get
only one. How can I adress the graphs in two files?
Second, I'd like, always in the same code, to add a legend to a graph.
Better, I'd like to put in such a legend a new item whose color
could remind the colour ol the columns it refers to in the plot. I wrote:

[OT] Survival and Function as co-primary endpoints in clinical trials. How to simulate in R ?
Dear R-Helpers,
Apologies in advance as this is partly (widely ?) OT. Not sure where to
ask, R is my favorite computer tool (no kidding) and there are plenty of
knowledgable and helpful people on the list.
Background: There are discussions among experts and regulatory
authorities (cf guideline

p-val issue for ranked two-group test
Hi-
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my code. I'm coming up dry
when I try to get a p-value from the following code. If I make a
histogram of my resampled distribution, I find the difference between
by groups to be significant. I've ranked the data since I have
outliers in one of my groups.
mange= c(35, 60, 81, 158, 89, 130, 90, 38, 119, 137, 52, 30,

Hi,
I'm having difficulty with getting a table to show with
multiple rows and columns. Below is the commands that I've typed in and
errors that I am getting. Thank you.

Why can repeated measures anova with within & between subjects design not be done if group sizes are unbalanced?
Dear R people:
I wish to switch from SPSS to R, but there is one particular type of
ANOVA design that cannot be done in R. Or more likely, it can be
done, but it is nowhere documented.
The problem is typical for psychologists:
You have a repeated measures design with different groups of subjects.
Now, this can be done with the aov command, but the number of
subjects in both groups must be

Why warnings using lmer-model with family=binomial
Hi all!
My question is why, and what I can do about that
I sometimes, but not always, get warning-messages like
nlminb returned message singular convergence (7)
in: LMEopt(x = mer, value = cv)
or
IRLS iterations for PQL did not converge
when trying to fit a model looking like this:
lmer<-(cbind(Diseased,Healthy)~Fungus+(1|Family)+(1|Fungus:Family),
family="binomial") to four

Paid R Help
Hello R people,
I am looking to pay someone to help write some R code.
Inputs:
Study identifier: ID Number for the study, each ID number is for one study only each block set should only be used for that study. This will require that you store the results from the blocks someplace on the file system.

Nodes in CTDB Cluster don't release recovery lock
Hello all,
First of all, apologies if this isn't the right location for this question,
I couldn't find a CTDB specific mailing list or IRC so I figured the
general one would be appropriate. Please let me know if this question is
better placed elsewhere.
I'm trying to test clustered samba and have a two node CTDB setup

Logistic Regression - Interpreting SENS (Sensitivity) and SPEC (Specificity)
Hi
Hi I am working on credit scoring model using logistic regression. I havd main sample of 42500 clentes and based on their status as regards to defaulted / non - defaulted, I have genereted the probability of default.
I have a hold out sample of 5000 clients. I have calculated (1) No of correctly classified goods Gg, (2) No of correcly classified Bads Bg and also (3) number of wrongly

exact 95% confidence intervals
Hello sir:
As to the 2*2 table format for reporting results comparing a new test to true diagnosis, when I got the sensitivity and specificity, how can I calculate the exact 95% confidence intervals (based on the binomial distribution) for sensitivity and specificity via R?
Thanks a lot!
My best!

how to write crossed and nested random effects in a model
Dear R Users,
I have a question based on my research. I am analyzing reader-based
diagnostic data set. My study involves diabetic patients who were evaluated
for treatable diabetic retinopathy based on the presence or absence of two
pathologies in their eyes. Pathologies were identified using the clinical
examination (Gold standard method). In addition it can be identified by

Fw: Logistic regresion - Interpreting (SENS) and (SPEC)
Dear Mr Peter Dalgaard and Mr Dieter Menne,
I sincerely thank you for helping me out with my problem. The thing is taht I already have calculated SENS = Gg / (Gg + Bg) = 89.97%
and SPEC = Bb / (Bb + Gb) = 74.38%.
Now I have values of SENS and SPEC, which are absolute in nature. My question was how do I interpret these absolue values. How does these values help me to find out wheher my model is

ZFS RAID-Z2 degraded vs RAID-Z1
Had an idea, could someone please tell me why it''s wrong? (I feel like it has to be).
A RaidZ-2 pool with one missing disk offers the same failure resilience as a healthy RaidZ1 pool (no data loss when one disk fails). I had initially wanted to do single parity raidz pool (5disk), but after a recent scare decided raidz2 was the way to go. With the help of a sparse file

need help with MSVC
for recent code changes I find myself needing some workarounds
for MSVC6:
1st, I need a fast way to swap bytes (for endianness) of a 32-bit
int. I could not find a builtin like bswap; the closest thing I
found was ntohl() which appears to be a function call and also
requires linking with winsock2 (ws2_32.lib) to get it.
2nd, I need an equivalent for lround() (or round() is ok), which

Yep. MSVC is borked. Its missing most of the new maths functions that
were introduced in the C99 standard.
The way I solved this problem for libsndfile was to stop using MSVC,
(allowing it to break for that compiler) and use MinGW. I also
release a pre-compiled win32 binary so
