RDig and AAF playing together
I have a site with two indexes. Index A is created offline by RDig
and queried from the web via RDig (specifically,
RDig.searcher.search). Index B is managed by AAF with :remote =>
true. Simple enough. However, I need to query both indexes from RDig.
Usually this is ok, as I modified RDig to accept an array of
search_paths with an element for index A and index B.
However, when Index

Help with Multiple Readers, 1 Writer scenario
Hi,
I''m building a web server application using Ferret [thanks so much
Dave], Mongrel and Camping which works fine servicing one request at a
time, but serialises searches if more than one request arrives, so I''d
like some advice please about the best way to use multiple readers and
one writer.
Some background ... query requests which in my case are always read
only, arrive via

Cohen's kappa, unequal score ranges
Hi,
I am having problems getting cohen's kappa to work. I have been using the function:
><-ckappa(x,y)
from the psy package.
I am trying to test for inter-observer reliability, I have 2 observers and 26 categories, however, the two observers might not necessarily have the same range of categories (I have unequal score ranges). However, I thought R could cope with this.
Each time I

I would like to create a Samba share supporting named writers, named readers, and no guests ...
I have not hit on the correct combination of parameters. Closest I come
still allows the readers to modify - but not create - files. Not what I
want. If someone can give me a hint, I would really appreciate it. Thank
you.
If I do this, reader1 can see the files (good), cannot create files (good),
but can modify (write) existing files (bad!)

lmer error:flist must be a non-empty list
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice regarding using the lmer
command in lme4 package to do logistic regression (mixed effects model).
I use the following command
lmer(ISH ~ArrayPathology2, random=~1|PatientID, data=HSDB4.noNA,
family="binomial")
where ISH is outcome(0 or 1), ArrayPathology2 is the variable of
interest(factor), PatientID is random effect(factor), and

passing a parameter to a file from command line
Hi,
I have a file fileFoo.R, say that contains these two lines, invoking
function foo that is specified in "foo_details.R":
source("foo_details.R")
foo(parameter1)
I want to specify and pass parameter1 in my command line when invoking R
in linux: R --no-save <fileFoo.R.
How can I do that?
And how can I retrieve the value of parameter1 in my fileFoo.R function

Elegant way to transform dataframe?
Hello,
I have a dataframe with columns like:
parameter1 parameter2 metricname value
and I'd like to transform it into a dataframe with columns:
parameter1 parameter2 metric1 metric2 metric3
where the values for each metric would be in the appropriate column. There are often multiple values for a given (parameter1, parameter2, metricname) triple. In this case, I want to use the

'fixing' list components
I have a list x (say) that will contain many inputs to and outputs a model.
x$input1 <- assign.input1(parameter1, parameter2)
is one way to assign input1, but it would be neater to be able to do
assign.input1(x, parameter1, parameter2)
Is this a good idea? If so, what is a good way to do it?

Update data in text file with data in dataframe
Hello all,
I'm a novice R programmer and I don't have a clue as to how to approach
this. I have tried many different approaches only to fail and I can't
seem to wrap my head around it. So I turn to the experts.
I have a text file with patient data that has incorrect dates of
service. I need to update the dates of service in the text file with
data that's in a dataframe.

How do I include a factor in a groupedData object? Meaning and use of inner and outer parameters
Windows 10 64-bit, R-Studio, R version 3.4.3
Several questions relating to groupedData:
(1) I am trying to create a groupedData object that can be used to run an analysis that I have been able to urn using lmer. When I include the interaction terms in the groupedData opbject I get an error message stating that + is not meaningful for factors. How do I include factors in my model? See code and

Update data in text file with data in dataframe
You might get someone on this last willing to invent something from scratch, but really this mailing list works best if you give very specific information, such as a verbatim copy of several records worth of your data file including all the stuff you want to skip over. Usually if someone is planning on inventing an example from scratch they make a blog post which you could find via search engine.

Update data in text file with data in dataframe
I think we need a bit more info on the data layout and what decision rule you are using to update the Date of Service. Are you just updating a record to provide the most recent DoS or are you correcting errors?

Need help with multi_search
I have been trying to use multi_search to search accross multiple
associated models, but I have had no luck at all. I have scoured the net
and this forum for all similar posts, but none of them contain enough
code for me to get it to work.
I am successfully able to search individual models, and then display the
results without a problem.
I have the following 2 models, Product and Component.

How do I include a factor in a groupedData object? Meaning and use of inner and outer parameters
Dear John
You are only allowed to have the primary covariate on the left hand side
of the vertical bar. Other covariates go in inner or outer.

A statement over multiple lines (i.e. the ... feature in Matlab)
Hello again list,
I thought I'd start a new thread, seeing as it's completely different
from my previous question. Some functions I have written require many
parameters, and so do not fit nicely into an 80 column width display.
This is usually avoided, by spreading that particular statement over
a few lines. This is something that I do in Matlab with the following:

Class parameter flexibility with ENC, hiera or both
Dear puppetteers,
I am having a philosophical question about parametrized classes.
When building modules, one wants to be as flexible as possible, to try
to target as many puppet flavors as possible. This is our target:
- Foreman users, using foreman as an ENC with smart variables (or
potentially any other ENC, but I would say this is the most widespread one).
- Pure Puppet''s site.pp

Nonlinear regression and categories
Hi there:
I'm trying to run a large number of nonlinear regressions on a time
series dataset, where the data will be formatted something to the effect of:
ObservationID,time,dependentvar
I'll have a number of time and dependentvars for each observation, and I
want to apply a nonlinear regression to one ObservationID at a time, and I
want to have a dataset that is the parameter
