R 1.7.0: Startup error: Error in "class<-"(*tmp*, value = Class) : couldn't find function "objWithClass"
Dear R-List member, I have installed the new version of R on my PC (see system details below). I can start the RGui with http_proxy succesfully. However, I do encounter two problems: 1) After starting the Rgui the following error message is displayed (vertical dots represent omissions of output): R : Copyright 2003, The R Development Core Team Version 1.7.0 (2003-04-16) . . . . Stop packages and datasets to be loaded on startup.
Hi. I would like to know how to start an embedded R session, and avoid datasets and the standard library packages to be loaded on startup. I've been looking at littler's code (so this is partly a question to Dirk Eddelbuettel...): > /* We don't require() default packages upon startup; rather, we > * set up delayedAssign's instead. see autoloads(). >

Rscript fails with some packages (for example, h5)
Hi Dirk, Thanks for the solution. Now I know the work-arounds, but still don't quite get it. Why does R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES has anything to do with library(methods)? If library(h5) works, it should just work, not depend on an environment variable. Rscript is not consistent with R, that's my confusion. R Commander options
I realize this is basic, but I can't figure out the syntax for setting options for R Commander. I'm running Linux Mint and want to increase the R Commander font sizes. I see that there are (apparently command line) options to do so. I have a desktop launcher with the following command line: sh -c 'R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES="$R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES Rcmdr" R "$@"' Can

example fails during R CMD CHECK but works interactively?
Thank you Dan but it isn't my tests that are failing (all of them pass without problem) but one of the examples from the inst/examples directory. I did try, however, to start R with the environmental variables as you suggest but it had no effect on my tests. Customization options with .Renviron, R_LIBS, .Rprofile etc
Hi, I am interested in customizing the installation of R. I have gone through the ?R Installation and Administration? manual. But some of the stuff is not clear to me and I would like to get clarifications on the following points (for a Windows installation with R_HOME=C:\\R\\R-2.9.1 ) : 1. I understand that I need to create a file, .Renviron with the following path : R_HOME\\etc\\.Renviron where

Crash when embedding R X11 windows
Dear R developers, I've been experimenting with embedding R X11 windows into another application using KDE's QXEmbed on linux. Attempting to do so will crash R (with R 2.4.0, trunk, and I know the bug has been around in prior versions). I used to think this was related to bug #848, but I'm not sure, if / how the solution suggested there still applies to current versions of R.
