Subsetting to unique values
I want to take the first row of each unique ID value from a data frame. For instance > ddTable <- data.frame(Id=c(1,1,2,2),name=c("Paul","Joe","Bob","Larry")) I want a dataset that is Id Name 1 Paul 2 Bob > unique(ddTable) Will give me all 4 rows, and > unique(ddTable$Id) Will give me c(1,2), but not accompanied by the name column.

Hi Does anyone know how I might pick out diagonal elements of a matrix using a vector? If I create a matrix a: a <- matrix(c(1:16), 4, byrow=TRUE) and I want to pick out the elements (1,1),(2,2),(3,3), or another arbitrary diagonal (upper or lower), is there any way I can use a vector to do this? Test for Random Points on a Sphere
Dear All, I implemented an algorithm for (uniform) random rotations. In order to test it, I can apply it to a unit vector (0,0,1) in Cartesian coordinates. measure smoothness
I have 3 sets of Cartesian data, one is 'original' data and the other 2 are "smoothed"data.
