Multi-line plots with matrices in R
Hello all, I'm a new user of R, experienced with Octave/MATLAB and therefore struggling a bit with the new syntax. One of the easy things in Octave or MATLAB is to plot multiple lines or sets of points by using a matrix where either the columns or the rows contain the y-values to be plotted. Both packages automatically give each line/points their own unique colour, character etc. I'm

Critical Bug in type conversions: as.integer, trunc, ... (PR#8255)

ggplot2/aesthetic plotting advice
Consider the following situation: we have quantified algal concentrations for a variety of species using many samples at each of three years. It seems to make sense to generate a line plot (matplot-like), with each species plotted as a separate line, with the points connected to emphasize the temporal pattern. The problem: lots of overlapping error bars. The question: from both a

overlay two facet_grid
Hi all, Does anyone know how to overlay two facet_grids? I have two facet grids as following: ggplot(data=df,aes(x=TE,y=TR,color="orange"))+geom_point()+facet_grid(FS+TRJ~OR+INV,labeller=label_both)+xlim(0,200)+ylim(0,10000) ggplot(data=df,aes(x=TE,y=TR))+geom_point(aes(color=TST))+facet_grid(FS+TRJ~OR+INV,labeller=label_both)+xlim(0,200)+ylim(0,10000) Thanks for any help! Boxplot width
Hi there, assume that you have data with different sampling like d1 <- rnorm(100) d2 <- rnorm(150) now, I'd like to create two boxplots in one graph but each plot located at the sampling number at the x-axis. This, I can do with "at" l <- list(d1,d2) boxplot(l, at=c(length(d1), length(d2)), xlim=c(0,200) ) but both plots are very thin and I'd like to increase the

overlay two facet_grid

ylim for graphic
Dear list: I have some data for which I am generating a series of barplots for percentages. One issue that I am dealing with is that I am trying to get the legend to print in a fixed location for each chart generated by the data. Because these charts are being created in a loop, with different data, my code searches the data to identify the maximum value in the data and then print the data values

Break in the y-axis
Hello all, I have been having trouble getting a break in my y-axis. All of my data points are up around 100-200, but the graph has to start at zero, so i would like to remove all the white space using a break symbol. I have been able to get the break and labels to be correct, however, I can't seem to get the data to match the axis anymore. I must be using the axis.break() in plotrix

need tick marks by 10s or 20s up to 200 on x axis
Sorry, I have read other posts on tick marks but nothing is working. Here is my R code. I was able to turn off the x axis at one point (I removed that code), but never got the tick marks on by 20s. It always goes to the default of 50, 100, 150, 200. Thanks. R code: hist(OMY$FL, main = "2010 Oncorhynchus mykiss Fork Length Frequencies at Buck Creek Reach 1", include.lowest = TRUE,

How to vary the distance between the pairs of a side-by-side barplot?
Hello, for my project I wanted to create a side-by-side barplot. For each of 143 treatments there are always two measurement. This two measurements (a pair) are represented by a red resp. a yellow bar. I was able to write the code for the side-by-side barplot. Unfortunately however I am not able to vary the distance between the measurement pairs ( the distance from one red-yellow bar pair to the

performance on document.get_data()
I got some performance issue for document.get_data() and enquire.get_mset(). It costs 35 seconds for matches = enquire.get_mset(0,200), and 3 seconds for iterating all doc in matches to get_data. Is't normal? My index contains 30millions documents. I use python binding to operate xapian. Bellow it's my index structure # value: 0:date, 1:site # data: json message which contains: author,

xyplot help - colors and break in plot
Dear List, I am new to lattice plots, and am having problems with getting my plot to do what I want. Specifically: 1. I would like the legend to have the same symbols as the plot. I tried simpleKey but can't seem to get it to work with autoKey. Right now my plot has dots (pch=19) and my legend shows circles. 2. I have nine groups but xyplot seems to only be using seven colors, so two

plotting with an its object
Dear R People: I have an its object. The original its is the Dow Jones Industrial average from March 23, 1990 to March 23, 2000. I did the following; dj1 = original series >dj2 <- log(dj1) >ddj2 <- diff(dj2) > Ok so far. Now I would like to plot this series with a certain y limit: >min(ddj2) [1] -0.07454905 >max(ddj2) [1] 0.04860535 >plot(ddj2,ylim=c(-0.1,0.1)) Error

tiny typo in optim/N-M documentation (PR#1109)
In the optim() documentation, the control parameter "maxit" says "There is no other stopping criteria." That should be "are", or "criterion" ... While I'm at it -- poking at the code a little bit, it looks as if the initial simplex is set from the initial point by displacing each parameter value by max(0.1,0.1*pmax(fabs(Bvec))), where Bvec is the
