Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
Thanks Jeff,
I attached a file with the program to my earlier email because the posting guide seemed to imply that non-binary attachments would work. But I see that the file was stripped off.
I installed the program file on a web site, but when I downloaded it, the line breaks were stripped out. So I've included the program below:

xyplot tick marks and line thickness
Hello,
A made a xyplot using the lattice library in R (latest version).
The publisher of our paper has requested:
1. all tick marks should point inwards instead of outwards.
2. All lines should be thicker (lines, axes, boxes, etc. Everything). Lines is easy...I used: lwd=1.5 but what about the lines of the axes, and the lines that build up the plot itself?....?

Rotated, Right-Justified Labels for Shortened Tick Marks
Hello R-help,
I'm trying to make a fairly simple plot axis that goes something like
this:
plot(-10:10,-10:10, yaxt='n')
axis(side=2, las=1, hadj=1, tck=-.01, cex.axis=.6)
...but as you can see, the labels are not close enough to the y-axis
(where I want them... to save space for publication).
Can anybody help me figure out how to move these labels over the the
right a bit?

xyplot: tick marks inside panel
Hello all,
Working with a typical xyplot figure (for example the first from example(lattice) )
I would like to place the tick marks inside the panels instead of outside.
I believe working with the axis argument might be the way to do it, but do not see how?
Could anyone help me out in doing this?
In advance thank you.

How to generate 'minor' ticks in lattice (qqmath)
Dear group,
I tried to generate labels for every second tick in lattice (qqmath).
Version: 0.14-16
Date: 2006/12/01
R version 2.4.1 (2006-12-18)
An example:
library(lattice)
numy=100
y=runif(numy,min=0,max=1)
sig=0.05
numsig=length(which(y<sig))
tck.no=11 # number of ticks
tcks=1:tck.no
labl=as.character(0.1*tcks-0.1) # label for all ticks
labl[seq(2,tck.no-1,2)]="" # delete

Tick marks in xyplot
Dear R group
I am making multiple xyplot, and would like to have tick marks on bottom and left in EACH panel, but only tick labels at the bottom and left of the whole graph.
I have browsed the internet, as well as the help page without success.
If anyone could help me find the path to the solution I would appreciate.
Here is an example, this is the best I could do:
lset(col.whitebg())

Tick marks that correspond with bars on barplot
Hello all,
I have created a barplot that shows change in hardwood/softwood density from 1965 to 2005 in 5 year periods (1965,1970, etc). I would like to have an X-axis where the labels for the years line up after every two bars in the plot (there is one bar for hardwood, and another for softwood). Below is my script:
density<-read.table("F:\\Megan\\Vtest.csv", header=TRUE,

Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
Per the Posting Guide, why didn't you post the reproducible R code example?

Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
I'm drawing a paneled histogram using the lattice package. I've succeeded in
adding minor tick marks to the vertical axis, but I can't get the desired
number of minor tick marks between the major tick marks.
I've attached a self-contained program to illustrate the problem.
Thanks for your help,
Don Macnaughton

[lattice] Increase distance between tick labels and ticks in wireframe plot ("pad")
Hello,
I try to increase the distance between tick labels and ticks in a lattice wireframe plot. Here's a minimal example:
## Minimal example
x <- y <- z <- c(1,2,3)
df <- data.frame(x, y, z)
wireframe(z ~ x*y, df, scales = list(arrows = FALSE, col = "black", font = 1, tck=0.6))
I tried the axis.components option

Changing Tick Mark Values for lattice / wireframe
How can I change the tick mark values in lattice, specifically wireframe?
I have a 11*46 matrix of values that I am plotting using wireframe.
Unfortunely, the values range from 0.1-1.1 and 0.5-5. Using the code
below the tick marks have are (2,4,6,8,10) and (10,20,30,40).
Thanks in advance.

scales = list(arrows = FALSE,
cex=.6,

No subject
Dear Friends,
Yesterday I posed a question to the list concerning the possibility of doing
animation examples in R. Here is an example S-Plus (4.5 for Windows ) that
I wrote to illustrate my problem. If I try this in R (comment out the
graphsheet and guilocator calls) I don't see my results until after the
function has iterated through the 100 trials. I would like to plot each
iteration.

minor tick marks for plots (PR#13616)
Hello,
I think I found a bug:

> hdata[1:3,1] <- c(1,10,15)
> hdata[1:3,2] <- c(2,1,4)

> minor.tick(nx=2, ny=1,tick.ratio=1)
the minor tick marks appear between the tick marks which would have been
drawn without the option

[ggplot] controlling axis and major/minor tick marks
Hello there!
I'm starting with ggplot and was wondering how I could control the axis
of a plot. I would like the axis of the plot to be drawn black which I
thought to acheive with the option axis.colour="black". However, this
had no real effect on the plot. Then I found grid.colour which I changed
to black as well. Now I got my axis as I wanted them, but ggplot now
draws the grid

minor tick marks
Hi !
I need a plot for data extending over several orders of magnitude on the y axis.
The following command generates a nice looking semi-log plot for my data:
plot(x,y,log="y",type="l",lty=3, ylim=c(0.01,2),yaxp=c(0.01,1,1),las=1)
I would appreciate having also minor tick marks in-between the 3 major ticks obtained with the above command. The "minor.tick" function

Axes Labels on the Right side of lattice panel
Hello,
My plot has two curves on different scales. To create the scale on
the extreme right hand side of a panel
I followed the example in panel.axis (in this example, the tick marks
are at the same location and labels are the same too)
axis=function(side, ... )
{
ylim <- current.panel.limits()$ylim
if(side=="left"){

Lattice: don't draw unlabled tick marks
If I only want axis labels on the left and bottom I can set
alternating=F like in the following example:
Depth <- equal.count(quakes$depth, number=8, overlap=.1)
xyplot(lat ~ long | Depth, data = quakes, scales=list(alternating=F)
I also would like to get rid of the unlabeled tick marks (top and
right). How can I do that?
