combining matrices
Heja, I hope someone is still there to help me: How can I somehow merge/combine matrices to get such a result: Matrix A A B x1 1 0 x2 1 1 Matrix B C D x3 1 0 x4 0 1 Resulting Matrix? A B C D x1 1 0 0 0 x2 1 1 0 0 x3 0 0 1 0 x4 0 0 0 1 Does anyone see this probably obvious solution with R how to do this? Sorry if this question is silly...it's too hot here to think properly ;O)

stack or dissolve matrix without double entries
Heja, I've some bigger distance-matrices like this: num [1:3231, 1:3231] 0.000 0.176 0.176 0.176 0.176 ... - attr(*, "dimnames")=List of 2 ..$ : chr [1:3231] "A" "B" "C" "D" ... ..$ : chr [1:3231] A" "B" "C" "D" . I actually want to convert them into a 2 column dataframe like this: data.frame':

RODBC problems
Hello, I successfully used RODBC very frequently, but after having updatetd to R 6.0.2, the current RODBC-Version gives me some problems. After connecting to my Oracle-Database via odbcConnect("") (or the necessary information) I receive a much longer output than usual: RODB Connection 0 Details: case=nochange DRIVER={Oracle in OraHome90} ... with all the details. dll problem with C++ function
Dear fellow R-users, I have the problem of being unable to repeatedly use a C++-function within R unless by dyn.unloading/dyn.loading it after each .C call. The C++-code (too large to attach) compiles without problem using R CMD SHLIB. It loads (using dyn.load("myfun.so")) and executes (via .C(myfun, ...) ) properly. The function returns no object, only reads files from disk,

Transport endpoint is not connected
Hi, I want to share a partition of an external disk between 3 machines. It is located on a Sun StoreTek 3510 and bound (via multipathing) to all 3 machines. One machine (say mach1) is the node I used to create the filesystem and setup /etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf. I copied the file to the other 2 machines. All use the same /etc/multipath.conf[1], too. All start /etc/init.d/ocfs2 at boot, all are

increase symbol size in expression - axis label of a plot
Heja, It took me a while to find a way of implementing normal text as subscripted text in a expression followed by another expression and more subscripted text :O) It looks now as this: ylab=expression(Delta^"+"~""[paste("my subscripted text")]~">"~Delta^"+"~""[paste("my subscripted text")]) I use several par commands

[parallel] fixes load balancing of parLapplyLB
Dear R-Devel List, **TL;DR:** The function **parLapplyLB** of the parallel package has [reportedly][1] (see also attached RRD output) not been doing its job, i.e. not actually balancing the load. My colleague Dirk Sarpe and I found the cause of the problem and we also have a patch to fix it (attached). A similar fix has also been provided [here][2]. [1]:

[parallel] fixes load balancing of parLapplyLB
Dear Christian and Henrik, thank you for spotting the problem and suggestions for a fix. We'll probably add a chunk.size argument to parLapplyLB and parLapply to follow OpenMP terminology, which has already been an inspiration for the present code (parLapply already implements static scheduling via internal function staticClusterApply, yet with a fixed chunk size; parLapplyLB already

R-Help
Hi, my name is Gastón. I just read a question, made by Walter Durka, about a nonparametric discriminant analysis. It wasn´t any answer, and I was wondering if at this moment there is one. I have the same problem as W. Durka. I´m trying to classify and to cross-validate samples of three tunicates species based on morphometric data and to identify the variables that best discriminate between

[parallel] fixes load balancing of parLapplyLB
Hi, I'm trying to understand the rationale for your proposed amount of splitting and more precisely why that one is THE one. If I put labels on your example numbers in one of your previous post: nbrOfElements <- 97 nbrOfWorkers <- 5 With these, there are two extremes in how you can split up the processing in chunks such that all workers are utilized: (A) Each worker, called

[parallel] fixes load balancing of parLapplyLB
Dear Tomas, Thanks for your commitment to fix this issue and also to add the chunk size as an argument. If you want our input, let us know ;) Best Regards On 02/26/2018 04:01 PM, Tomas Kalibera wrote: > Dear Christian and Henrik, > > thank you for spotting the problem and suggestions for a fix. [parallel-package] feature request: set default cluster type via environment variable
Dear all, I?m working as an administrator of a High-Performance Computing (HPC) Cluster which runs on Linux. A lot of people are using R on this Linux cluster and, of course, the *parallel* package to speed up their computations. It has been our collective experience, that using |makeForkCluster| yields an overall better experience /on Linux/ than the |makePSOCKcluster|, for whatever definition

Kruskal-Wallis-test: Posthoc-test?
Hello. We have some questions concerning the statistical analysis of a dataset. We aim to compare the sample means of more than 2 independent samples; the sample sizes are unbalanced. The requirements of normality distribution and variance homogeneity were not met even after transforming the data. Thus we applied a nonparametric test: the Kruskal-Wallis-test (H-Test). The null hypothesis was

Interaction contrasts or posthoc test for glm (MASS) with ANOVA design
Dear R experts I am running a negative-binomial GLM (glm.nb) to test the null hypotheses that species 1 and 2 are equally abundant between site 1 and site2, and between each other. So, I have a 2x2 factorial design with factors Site (1,2) and Taxon (1,2). Since the Site:Taxon interaction is significant, I need to do the equivalent to a "post-hoc test" for ANOVA, however, the same tests

Letters group Games-Howell post hoc in R
Hello everybody, I use the sweetpotato database included in R package: data(sweetpotato) This dataset contains two variables: yield(continous variable) and virus(factor variable). Due to Levene test is significant I cannot assume homogeneity of variances and I apply Welch test in R instead of one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey posthoc. Nevertheless, the problems come from when I apply posthoc

lme posthoc comparisons in R
Hi there, I was hoping to post this message. Im hoping I;ve got the right spot?! Hi there, sorry for basic question but im very new to R. Im trying to run a lme model with two categorical variables, each having 6 (for the explanatory variable C.f) and 5 levels (for expl. variable D.f) respectively. The lme runs fine, summary and anova commands are ok. But now i've tried running posthoc
