RODBC and NULL values
Dear All, Writing sooner than I thought I'd need to. I'm using R 2.4 on Mac OS X, with RODBC, PostgreSQL 8.1 and Actual's ODBC driver. I have all my data in Filemaker 8.5, but it is automatically exported into PostgreSQL for analysis as Filemaker's ODBC and JDBC access is awful, slow and has a tendency to crash. I have disability data where for each patient there is a survival

R: Query an Access database based on a date attribute
It seems that Access needs that you surround the dates with a # symbol. You probably need something like. res <- sqlQuery(channel, "select * from test_table where market = 'atl-bos' and competitor = 'delta' and dd = #2007-11-20#") Hope this helps, Stefano -----Messaggio originale----- Da: r-help-bounces at r-project.org [mailto:r-help-bounces at r-project.org]Per

RODBC sqlQuery insert slow
Large for loops are slow. Try to avoid them using apply, sapply, etc. I've made the paste statements a lot shorter by using collapse. See ?paste for more info. Append.SQL <- function(x, channel){ sql="INSERT INTO logger (time, v1, v2, v3, v4, v5, v6, v7, v8, v9, v10) VALUES("d1=strptime(x[2],"%d/%m/%y %H:%M:%S %p '", d1, "' ,", paste(x[3:12],

RODBC
Hello, I am fairly new to R and its connectivity to MS-Access. I just installed RODBC and it seems to be working well except when I use the date to condition the query. For example the query below sqlQuery(channel, "select date from tblUScpi where (date > d2) order by date") returns the following error [1] "[RODBC] ERROR: Could not SQLExecDirect"

Query an Access database based on a date attribute
Dear useRs, I would like to query an Access database through R based on a date attribute but, unfortunately, I fail to do so. For example, the table test_table of the test.mdb looks like: ID cd market competitor dd price 1 1 2007-11-20 atl-bos delta 2007-11-20 210 2 2 2007-11-20 atl-bos delta 2007-11-21 190 3 3 2007-11-20 atl-bos delta 2007-11-22

Avoiding multiple outputs using RODBC package
I am using R as a data manipulation tool for a SQL database. So in some of my R scripts I use the RODBC package to retreive data, then run analysis, and use the sqlSave function in the RODBC package to store the results in a database. There are two problems I want to avoid, and they are highly related: (1) having R rerun analysis which has already been done and saved into output database table,

Interpolating variables within (RODBC library) SQL statements for MySQL
Hi everyone, I am desperately looking for a method to interpolate strings within an SQL statement as follows: I get a lot of rows out of a database (in my example POSITION_to_ZIPCODE Database with holds records for German ZIP Code <--> Gauss-Krueger Coordinate System ) and want this to be selected and computed individually row by row as follows: library(RODBC) channel <-

R and otherwise. My dataframes for merging or subsetting are about 300k to 900k records. I've had errors such as vector size too large.

RODBC, sqlQuery with NA:s
Hi R-users, I'm trying to retrieve data from MS SQL database with RODBC's sqlQuery-function: temp <- sqlQuery(channel,"select *, (select text from table1 where koodi='paa' and koodi2=paa) as tempor from table2") str(temp) … $ var0 : num NA NA 1.6 NA NA 1.4 NA 1 NA NA ... $ var1 : Factor w/ 45 levels "

"na.strings" and the like; suspending interpretation of "NA"
Can someone point me to the proper place in the documentation or on the Wiki where I can learn how to get R to stop interpreting the string "NA" as something special? I have a table in a database which contains (among other things) country codes and continent codes. The standard set of two-letter codes includes "NA" to denote "North America". I learned of the

Testing if a variable is specified within a function & adding TRUE/FALSE options to functions
I have 2 related questions about functions. 1. I am writing a function to plot data from a time series with the form myplot<-function(data, d1,d2) { } Where d1 and d2 are two dates in a time series. The idea being that if no values for d1 and d2 are entered then the function defaults to plotting the whole time series, else it plots the data for the interval specified by d1 and d2. I am

RODBC to query an Oracle table
Hello all, I am having trouble running a count function in R using RODBC to query a table I created in Oracle. It may very well be that my SQL coding is incorrect; I just started learning it. But if someone could point me in the right direction or tell me if I am going about this the correct way that would be greatly appreciated! The script I have right now is: >require(RODBC)

non-SQL sqlQuery error
Dear all, I've encountered a curious problem. I am trying to run an SQL query using sqlQuery() function in RODBC. The query works fine when run in a stand-alone SQL browser (Microsoft Query Analyzer, in particular). However, when I use the exact same thing from sqlQuery() function, I get the following error: Error in "[.data.frame"(data, , ) : not all specified columns exist

RODBC and Date/Time variables
This is really a query about MySQL which I am trying to use to set up a database which I will then access with RODBC. I have my data in a .csv file, and some of the fields are date/time fields. I tried to create a table using mysql with the definition of the date/time field given by CallDate DATETIME, but I got an error saying that the first row has 28/07/2006 0:00 in that field. What I

using "eval(parse(text)) " , gsub(pattern, replacement, x) , to process "code" within a loop/custom function
R-help users, Thanks in advance for any assistance ... I truly appreciate your expertise. I searched help and could not figure this out, and think you can probably offer some helpful tips. I apologize if I missed something, which I'm sure I probably did. I have data for many "samples". (e.g. 1950, 1951, 1952, etc.) For each "sample", I have many data-frames.
