I would like my axes to intersect at (0,0). I tried xaxs="i",yaxs="i" but it
does not change anything. I hope anybody can help me with this problem. Here
is my code.

image() with a vector
Hi,
I have a vectors x and z, for example,
x <- 0:20
z <- round(runif(20,1,7))
y <- 0.5
and I want to display z as an image. However if I then call image() with a vector
image(x,y,t(z),zlim=c(1,7),col=heat.colors(7),xlab="Year",ylab="Action",yaxt="n",xaxs="r",yaxs="r")
then I get the error

Dear R community,
I need to plot the results of some simulations I did using QTL
Cartographer. I am plotting LOD scores over three chromosomes. The three
plot have to be one next to the other.
The procedure I am using is:
par(mfrow=c(1,3))
plot(x$x, x$y, ylim=c(0,35), type="l", col="blue", las=1, xaxs="i",
yaxs="i", xlab="X Chromosome",

Intercept between two lines
Dear List,
I know this is not the first post on this topic, but I need basic help I
guess. Assuming the simple case of two lines with one intercept, how can I
make R calculate this intercept, NOT using locator().

plot( 1, bty="n" ,xlim=c(0,300) , ylim=c(0,300) , xlab="X", ylab="Y")

asp=1 and aspect ratio
Hi everyone
I want a square scatterplot with abline(0,1) going exactly through the
SW and NE corners. By "square" I mean that the plotting region is
exactly square, and that the axis limits are identical.
x <- 1:20
y <- x+rep(c(-1,1),10)
lims <- range(c(x,y))
None of the following do this:
plot(x,y) ; abline(0,1) #not square
plot(x,y,asp=1);abline(0,1) #diagonal

overlap cdf plots and add colors and etc
Hi r-users,
I would like to overlap 2 ecdf plots.
I tried this below and it gives me two plots of ecdf but just both just in
black.
par(mar=c(4,4,2,1.2),oma=c(0,0,0,0),xaxs="i", yaxs="i")
plot(ecdf(datobs))
lines(ecdf(gam_sum_gen))
Then I try to add colors etc and also the legend but fail.
par(mar=c(4,4,2,1.2),oma=c(0,0,0,0),xaxs="i", yaxs="i")

Margin question
I am trying to produce a postscript plot consisting of rectangles and text
labels in R. It is going very well, but I have been unable to get small
margins on the page. I read the documentation on the 'mar' and 'oma'
options, but they claim that the margins should default to being 0.25in
wide, in fact on my plot they are more like 1in each! Here is the
smallest R script that

no y-axis
HI @ all,
I'm looking for a simple solution to supress the y-axis - but only the drawn
scale - not the values.
Only the numbers should be displayed.
I tried yaxt="n" but there everything of the y-axis is supressed.
Thanks

Error in par(split.screens[[n]]) : parameter "i" in "mfg" is out of range
I'm working on my 'oce' package, trying split.screen() instead of par(mfrow).
My code is too long to post, and I hope it's ok that I ask this question
without doing so.
My code seems to work fine when I source() it, but when I do "R CMD check"
on my package, I get the error that I've put as the subject line, when it
runs examples.
If I comment out the plot()

How to do a pretty panel plot?
The pretty picture that I saw at:
http://chartsgraphs.wordpress.com/2009/02/09/r-panel-chart-beats-excel-chart/#more-1096
inspired me to try something similar. The code that I wrote is:

Space for X and Y axis labels
Hello all,
I'm having a bit of a problem with x and y axis labels. Two things:
first, if I want to create a plot with,
plot.new()
plot.window(.....)
axis(1)
axis(2)
lines(...)
points(...)
[etc.]
... where do I introduce the xlab=... and ylab=... commands? I
attempted this in plot.window() but no labels showed up.
Second, here's a bit of real code...

Can someone please explain why the last tick mark on this chart is not showing?
Hi all,
I'm trying to log chart but with natural looking tick marks. My
specifications are very specific -- it must indicate the lowest
number's tick as well as the maximum.
I've attached sample code and data for a particular case (and there
are a few more like this) where the bottom tickmarks on the chart are
not set to where I want them to be and yet they fit in the ylim range.

remove label from specific axis
Readers,
For a graph plot instruction:
plot(seq(10:50),type='h',yaxt='n',yaxs='i',lab=c(20,2,2),xlab='x axis
label',bty='l',main='graph title')
how to remove y-axis label and keep the x-axis label?

Alignment of axes intersection
All,
Very basic question I can't seem to find the answer to:
plot(0:10, 0:10)
The axes intersection is not aligned at (0,0) in the lower left.
How does one force this?
I searched for graphical parameters under par(graphics) but can't seem to
find it.
Thanks!

need help with axis ticks
hi,
i am using par(mrow=c(6,6)) function to get 6x6 plots on one screen. the
problem that i am having is that the axis tick labels are far away from the
ticks and going into previous plots (see attached figure). i need to know
how can i reduce the distance between the ticks and their values (y axis
values).the part of the code that i am using (after reading in the data) to
create the top row is:
