Asymmetrical ANOVA / contrasts
Dear all,
I have problems to code contrasts for performing an asymmetrical anova
with aov(). I am using aov() because I want to get the Mean Squares for
further analyses. I didn't find any solution to my problem in the help
files of functions aov(), contrasts(), C(), etc.
Let's say I have three locations, one with treatment P, and two with
treatment C:

Comparing spatial point patterns - Syrjala test

At several stations distributed regularly in space[1], we sampled
repeatedly (4 times) the abundance of organisms and measured
environmental parameters. I now want to compare the spatial
distribution of various species (and test wether they differ or not),
or to compare the distribution of a particular organism with the

R 2.6.0 & RMySQL
Dear list members --
I have problems in loading the pre-compiled library RMySQL_0.5-7 taken
here (http://stat.bell-labs.com/RS-DBI/download/index.html) or
RMySQL_0.6-0 taken here
(http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/RWin/bin/windows/contrib/2.5/) on R 2.6.0
under Windows XP. I am using the MySQL features of EasyPHP1-8 (but the
problem is not (for the moment) in connecting with a database but just

aggregate.zoo
I have been using aggregate function to determine the annual minimum in
a daily time series. However, I was also hoping to determine the date of
occurrence without having to loop through each year to identify the date
of each minimum returned from aggregate(). Is there a more convenient
way of doing so?

Several factors same levels
This is probably very simple but I'm new to R so apologies for being stupid.
I have some data with No coded as 0 and yes coded as 1.
e.g.
id sex alcohol smoker
1 M 0 1
2 F 1 0
3 M 0 0
I realise I can covert the numerical variable back to a factor by
falcohol<-factor(alcohol,levels=0:1)

read columns of quoted numbers as factors
Suppose I have a data file (possibly with a huge number of columns), where the
columns with factors are coded as "1", "2", "3", etc ... The default behavior of
read.table is to convert these columns to integer vectors.
Is there a way to get read.table to recognize that columns of quoted numbers
represent factors (while unquoted numbers are interpreted as

X using ATI ES1000: Failed to create write
I verified with my vendor that indeed we are using an ATI ES1000 Video
Card, not an Nvidia as previously thought.

removeing only rows/columns with "na" value from square ( symmetrical ) matrix.
I have some square matrices with na values in corresponding rows and
columns.

Dragable element
Hey all
Im having a problem... Ok, this is the situation...
I have a small product image, on which ive floated a div over it, and
defined it as draggable. Now, this works, and i can drag it around no
problem. great. but then, what i want to do is, based on the location of
that dragable element from the top and the left, to move (using the
Effect.MoveBy method) a larger image - so effective

I have got tdbsam as backend in smb.conf
passdb backend = tdbsam
When user change password from windows XP file passdb.tdb schould change
date because was updated, but I have still the same date IX 18 10:30.

Merging Matrices
I have two symmetric matrices, but of different dimensions. The entries are
identified by specific labels some of which are shared by both matrices. I
would like to sum the two matrices, but retain the union of the two. In
other words, I want the result to be the same size as the larger of the two
matrices, but with the entries that they share added together.
cbind() and rbind() don't
