manual construction of box&whisker plot
Dear useRs, how can I construct a box&whisker plot based on the vector "fivenum"? The challenge I face is as follow: I have a table such as x | fivenum --------------- ... | (.....) ... | (.....) and so forth.... For each observation x I have generated a vector containing the fivenum estimates. The first challenge is to group my fivenum vectors into groups based on a

Removing lower whisker in boxplot to see the effects of the high values
Good Afternoon- I was wanting to alter the boxplot to remove the lower whisker, both the whisker line and staple just on the lower end. Is there a way to do this? As my code is currently: boxplot(log_loads~ind,data=nfmaum, horizontal=TRUE, notch=T, outline=FALSE, whisker=0, main="Maumee River Near Future Climate Scenarios", ylab="Log Load",xlab="Climate Scenarios")

New to R - Errors in plotting
I am new to R and am running into trouble with the function plot. When I enter in the simple code: x<-1:4 y<-5:8 plot(x,y) I get a scatter plot with 4 points as expected. However, with my own data, A and B are both vectors of length ~85, each entry a decimal in [0,1]. Using the same plot(A,B) with this data, the plot function no longer gives me a simple plot with 85 points.

box and whisker (PR#13821)
In a Box and Whisker plot, I thought that when there are outliers both abov= e and below the whiskers, then the whiskers should both be the same length = (plus or minus 1.5 times the inter-quartile range). If you look at the plot for SilwoodWeather on p.155 of The R Book you will = see that for November (month =3D 11) the upper whisker is shorter than the = lower, while for other months with

changing parameters of the box and whisker plot
Hello: I am plotting some data using the box and whisker plot. However, I only want to plot the median, max and min, as I only have these values and not the quartile values. It seems R arbitrarily constructs the box margins to be halfway between the median and the max/min. How do I make the box and whisker plots without the box values? Completeley disabling SELinux?
Hi all, I've set SELinux to disabled using the security and firewall widget but I'm still getting a lot of messages in Logwatch.... NULL security context for user, but SELinux in permissive mode, continuing () So it looks like SELinux is still operating. Can anyone tell me how to turn it off completely? It's my development server under my desk so I reallly don't care

boxplot knowing Q1, Q3, median, upper and lower whisker value
Dear list, I am using a external program that outputs Q1, Q3, median, upper and lower whisker values for various datasets simultaneously in a tab delimited format. After importing this text file into R, I would like to plot a boxplot using these given values and not the original series of data points, i.e. not using something like boxplot(mydata). Is there an easy way for doing this? If I am not

box-and-whisker plots based on summary not data
Hi, Is it possible to produce box-and-whisker plots given that I have the median, interquartile and 5/95th centile values, but not the data from which they come? It seems that it ought to be possible to coerce bxp to do what I want, but I can't quite see how. custom graphing of box and whisker plots
Hi, I'm trying to graph some data in a boxplot-like style, but I want to set the box and whisker limits myself (rather than having R calculate them for me). I'd like the boxes to be shaded and the whiskers to be dotted lines. My data are set up is something like this: min.whisker max.whisker min.box max.box species 0 200 20 37

outlier and whisker in boxplot
Hi, Dear R-users: Sorry for bothering your guys again. I think I should rewrite my question. I know how to extend whisker by using range. The question is that I will set the range=1.5, and at the same time, I only want to show the extreme outlier, like 0.01% and 99.99% percentile, so what should I do? Thank you very much! about the whisker in boxplot
Hi, Dear R-users, I have a problem when I drawing a boxplot. I want to extend the whisker to the 5% and the 95% quantiles and only show the most extreme outlier, like 0.01% and 99.99% percentiles. What should I do? I saw something on boxplot.stat, but even I define the parameter in boxplot.stat, what I should do next? how to connect it to boxplot? Thank you very much! Catherine -- View

vertically stacked area plot?
Dear all, I would like to create a vertically stacked area chart in R. The data are presented in the attached text file. I would like to see the trend in values for the different groups with sediment depth (that's why I would like to create a vertically stacked chart; normally sed_depth should be = x, but I want it plotted on the y-axis). In the packages available to create stacked area

box plot and plot whiskers
Dear R users, I have question concerning box plot and it's whiskers. As I understood from the description of the boxplot() function, if the range value is positive the plot whiskers extend out from the box to the most extreme data points defined by the values of the IQR times range (default 1.5). It suggests that the upper and lower plot whiskers should be more less the same length. What

How to hide tick lines behind the "box-and-whisker" 's in a boxplot
Dear R people, I wonder how to hide tick lines behind other figures in a plot, e.g. in a boxplot. # Sample code: x<- c(rep(4,50),rep(5,20),rep(6,50),rnorm(20,5,1)) boxplot(x) axis(2,tck=1,col.ticks='grey',lty=5 ) # end of sample code The tick lines is put on top of the box-plot, but I would like to put these lines behind the box and whiskers.. can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Hi Ralph, Thank you for your reply! For context -- we consider reported CVEs as bugs even if it's in a third-party library we use (such as libvorbis). We first determine if the CVE is something that would impact our customer workflows. In this case because of our use of libvorbis for audio I/O, it does impact our customers so we need to resolve the CVE as soon as possible. In the

new 1.3.7 and fix for CVE-2018-10392 (issue 2335)?
Hi Ralph, Again, thanks so much for doing all this! Plus thanks to all the folks who contributed to the new release! Quick clarifying question -- Isn't CVE-2018-10392 (looks like it’s fixed in https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/vorbis/-/issues/2335) also included in new version 1.3.7? If so can you please add it to release notes? (I asked the same question in

can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Yes, the gitlab instance is the correct upstream development repository. We maintain a mirror at github for the convenience of developers there. can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Hi libvorbis developers! I'm wondering if you had a chance to see my request for releasing a new libvorvis version - this is to have an official libvorbis release containing the CVE fixes that appear to be fixed in the master branch. Is there anything we can do to help with getting a release out? We're happy to work with you on this. Please let us know if we can do anything to help
