Problem with Samba PDC, W2k SP4 + rollup clients, user accounts
Hi!
I've one big problem.
In my work we have a mixed network: one Debian Sarge with samba 3.0.14
acting as PDC and some w2k sp4 and windows xp sp2 pro/home with all
updates (including w2k sp4 update rollup) . Samba uses OpenLDAP as backend
using smbldap-tools 0.9.1 to manage users and computers. This setup has
worked perfectly since december (the LDAP is used by other services as

create separate plots by factors
Hello,
I am attempting to create several plots based on "site" (~300 total)
and am having trouble with the code. I simply want to create a plot
using the code, plot(year, peak), for the following dataset. I would
like for each site to be plotted on a separate page and the plots
saved in a directory. Would a "foreach" loop work? I tried a "by"
statement, but

Using syslinux to boot xen without initrd
Hello all,
I have a Linux kernel image with Xen compiled for an embedded system. It
doesn't need an initrd as everything required for it to boot is already in
the final kernel image, and it works perfectly. But I'm having problems to
boot the Xen image without an initrd. I'm following this guideline
http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/Xen for my syslinux configuration
file, but

A simple stand-alone scenario but "public" share doesn´t work
Dear list,
For a simple home-network i recently installed Debian Etch on an extra
machine to act as server. It stores my mail, it acts as
webserver, firewall, dns-, dhcp- and database-server. All of these
services are running like a charm. The only thing left is
to get samba running. Well, it is running, but to get it running how i
want it to is a different matter i suppose, for i am

FILLED CONTOUR
Hi,
My name is Ingrid, in this moment I try to make a plot with filled.contour. Initially, I can to obtain the graphic but the xaxis was not fine, because the intervals were not coherent (Attach file 1: Plot_age_ML_contamana_final.pdf)
I changed the parameters of the each axis, but when I try to run the code appear two errors:

graphics ignore tabs in text
Dear R-help,
I seem to recall that I can use "\t" to get tab in a string on a
graphics device, but it doesn't seem to work. Try:
lab <- "a\tb\tc"
cat(lab, "\n") # works in the console output
plot(1:5, main=lab) # no tabs in the title
text(3, 3, lab) # no tabs in the text
I get the same result both in the windows() and pdf() devices. Any
ideas?

Receiving faxes and then sending them on
Hi,
I'm trying to setup a system where incoming faxes are received using
SpanDSP and then send on to another (remote) fax machine. The SpanDSP
part is working excellently, however I dont seem to be able to get
the forwarding part to work. Heres what I put into my extensions.conf:

Closing R fails

This seems to have started after I used the R.utils package. If I load
the R.utils package I can close R successfully. But I do not want to
have to do this every time I run R.
Is there any way I can switch off /reverse this behaviour? (I have had a

Problem with integrating ISDN PBX using NT mode
Hi,
I'm just in the process of replacing a crappy Siemens PBX with a new and
shiny Asterisk system. To connect Legacy equipment I hooked up a small
ISDN PBX (DeTeWe OpenCom 36) to one port on a Junghanns.net quadBRI
card. That port is configured for NT Point to Multipoint
(Mehrgeraeteanschluss) mode. Now I can place calls from the ISDN PBX to
the other Asterisk extensions but the other way

Corruption issue found in e2fsprogs 1.41.5
Hi,
A critical regression has been discovered in e2fsck. The problem was
introduced in upstream 1.41.5 and is causing updates to block group
descriptors to be lost after journal replay. Our 1.41.5.sun2 (.sun1 too)
e2fsprogs version also suffers from this problem.
We are working on rebasing our e2fsprogs package on 1.41.6 (see bug
19852).
Until the new rpm is available (should be very soon), we

Hello,
with samba-3.0.x an "smbcontrol smbd ping" was answered by all running

Using package "exams" and xtable
Hello,
I am trying to use the package "exams" to construct problem sets.
I have constructed an exercise which generates a list of integers and asks
the student to compute the median.
rx is the vector of n numbers
>str(rx)
num [1:16] 21 9 8 18 4 12 17 2 9 7 ...
I want to print out the entire vector as part of the problem.
When I use \Sexpr(rx) only the first value (in this case

Conflict between xtable and Hmisc when using Sweave?
Dear R users,
The Sweave code below runs fine, as it is. However, an error occurs when
the line 'library(xtable)' is uncommented:
Error: chunk 1
Error in "label<-"(`*tmp*`, value = "month") :
no applicable method for "label<-"
Is anybody aware of this and knows a workaround?
Thanks,
Sander.

xtable with psych objects
Hello:
I s there a way to use xtable with objects from the psych package, particularly principal()?
Is there a difference between princomp and principal? xtable seems to play better with princomp.
Thank you.
Yours, Simon Kiss
