samba and openldap authentication issues!
Alight, I've been working on this for too many hours straight. Any
help would be much appreciated!
(I posted this online to linux questions, it could be easier to read
on there... http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-server-73/samba-and-openldap-authentication-issues-637647/)
The problem is users created in smbldap-useradd can not login, unless
they also are a local user. for

Writing UTF8 on Windows
Recent functionality in jsonlite allows for streaming json to a user
supplied connection object, such as a file, pipe or socket. RFC7159
prescribes json must be encoded as unicode; ISO-8859 (including
latin1) is invalid. Hence I would like R to write strings as utf8,
irrespective of the type of connection, platform or locale.
Implementing this turns out to be unsurprisingly difficult on windows.

How can I export a paired t-test output table to an excel file?
Hi R users,
Could anyone let me know how to export a paired t-test output table (see

Using multicore with an open pdf device results in corrupt pdf (PR#14186)
The attached code produces corrupted pdfs (test2.pdf, test4.pdf and
test5.pdf). The resulting pdf depends on how many cores are available on
the machine.
I don't see why there should be any difference between the pdfs (exept for
the timestamp). Doing many operations involving mclapply can increase the
size of the resulting pdf by ten times!
Thank you for checking this.

Problems with quota dict in 1.1.alpha4
Hello,
there are problems with quota dict when multiple dovecot deliver processes are
launched in parallel. It can be reproduced by sending a mail with multiple
different recipients - the mail is delivered OK to all recipients, but the
quota are not updated correctly in sql. I looked at the code and it seems
that the problem is somewhere in dict cache.
If I configure in Postfix max number of

how to add a 'label' column
Hello R users,
I'd like to ask a question about how to add a new column. So, below is my
situation.
In order to perform the repeated ANOVA, I first imported the following

Finding LD50 from an interaction Generalised Linear model
Hi,
I have recently been attempting to find the LD50 from two predicted fits
(For male and females) in a Generalised linear model which models the effect
of both sex + logdose (and sex*logdose interaction) on proportion survival
(formula = y ~ ldose * sex, family = "binomial", data = dat (y is the
survival data)). I can obtain the LD50 for females using the dose.p()
command in the MASS

doveadm sync issues (revised)
Hi,
I'm experiencing serious issues using doveadm sync; mails are not
replicating and/or mails are duplicating. I wanted to use this for
migrating external mailboxes to my server (in order to overcome the time
when some servers/clients still use the old server and some already my
server, as described on <https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Tools/Doveadm/Sync>).
Finally I was able to reproduce

oldClass vs. class
Hi,When I read the source of str,i find these code
-----
## Show further classes // Assume that they do NOT have an own Method --
## not quite perfect ! (.Class = 'remaining classes', starting with current)
cl <- oldClass(object); cl <- cl[cl != "data.frame"] #- not THIS class

so I use ?oldClass to try to learn more about oldClass.But after I have reading

binary form of is() contradicts its unary form
Hi,
The unary forms of is() and extends() report that data.frame
extends list, oldClass, and vector:
> is(data.frame())
[1] "data.frame" "list" "oldClass" "vector"
> extends("data.frame")
[1] "data.frame" "list" "oldClass" "vector"
However, the binary form of is()

is() and S3 classes
The is() function begins with the following code:
cl <- class(object)
if (length(cl) > 1) {
if (is.na(match(cl[[1]], names(getClass("oldClass")@subclasses))))
return(class2 %in% cl)
As one can see, it uses S3 inheritance if the first element of the class
attribute is an "oldClass". In R prior to 2.7, is() would check S4
inheritance if any

'mgcv' package, problem with predicting binomial (logit) data
Dear R-help list,
I?m using the mgcv package to plot predictions based on the gam function.
I predict the chance of being a (frequent) participant at theater plays vs.
not being a participant by age.
Because my outcome variable is dichotomous, I use the binomial family with
logit link function.
Dataset in attachment, code to read it in R:
data <- read.spss("pas_r.sav")

Flexible rbind
Dear All,
I am trying to create a empty structure that I want to fill gradually
through the code.
I want to use something like rbind to create the basic structure first.
I am looking for a possibility to do an rbind where the columns names
dont match fully (but the missing columns can be defaulted to either
zero or n/a) (my actual data has a lot of columns).
Please see the data frames below

workgroups not recognized in virtual server conf files
Hi,
The documentation I've read indicates that I should be able to get Samba to
honor the value of the 'workgroup' variable as set from within an included
virtual server configuration file.
Given the configuration files below, if I comment out the
"workgroup = testwg"
line from the main configuration file (smb.conf), then a query of
