Solution of Rcmdr Problem in Quantian OS, Thanks...
As you know, i have problem about Rcmdr in the 2.4.0 version of R, it can't
be run properly in Quantian due to that Tcl/Tk does not support it. But,
now, with helps from Dirk Eddelbuettel, problem was solved. The solution is
just that reinstallation of R from debian packages not by compiling of
2.4.0 version source code. During the process, i noticed a srange thing,
that is, if i start R in

EBimage package for materials science
Dear R users,
In last R News, a new package was appeared. EBimage image processing package
seems so powerful. But in R News, it is used for the images of cells under
microscope. So, i wonder whether there is anyone who use this package for
materials science applications such as determination of mean diameter of
particles, fibers or pores, estimation of porosity or covering factor.
Sincerely...

New Quantian releases with almost all of CRAN / BioC
[ I hope this is not considered off-topic for the list:
A new Quantian release was just announced, and it contains even more R.
As before, we have R (now 2.2.1), ESS, Ggobi, Rpy, several BioInfo tools
-- but now we also have RSPerl, JGR, rJava and more. A full sync to CRAN
and BioC as of Feb 25, 2006 now yields dim(installed.packages())[1]
of 877. Feedback welcome, but

Quantian 0.6.9.2 with over 500 CRAN / BioC packages
I posted the following a little earlier on the quantian-announce list -- but
it may be of interest here as well as this version contains all (but three,
see below) packages from CRAN, and all of BioConductor.
Quantian strives to provide the easiest way to set up a very complete
scientific computing environment with a wide variety of tools -- including
R, ESS, Ggobi, almost all of CRAN, all of

Quantian 0.5.9.3 with over 400 CRAN and BioConductor packages
[ Apologies for the cross-post, and I hope this is seen as sufficiently

rkward on Ubuntu heron with R2.8.0
I am running R on Ubuntu Heron.
I recently updated to R 2.8.0 from the default (2.6) in the Ubuntu heron
repository by adding
deb http://cran.stat.sfu.ca/bin/linux/ubuntu hardy/
I updated all packages installed in /usr/lib/R/site-library and those in
my home directory /home/duncan/R/i486-pc-linux-gnu-library/2.6
without obvious issues. I installed adehabitat and gpclib, which should

Update RKWard to> = 0.7.0
Hi Griera,
thanks for your report - I do not use rkward, so I did not notice that for
some reason my backporting script failed to download the latest rkward
version. I need to do apt-get source -t unstable instead of just apt-get
source to get the current rkward source package from unstable.
rkward 0.7 packages for i386 and amd64 are uploaded and will be synchronized
to CRAN within a day or
