Has anyone developed a function to generate a forest plot, the one used a lot in meta-analysis? Joseph F. Problems with na.rm=T
Suddenly (e.g. yesterday) all my functions that have "na.rm=" as a parameter (e.g., mean(), sd(), range(), etc.) have been reporting warnings with "na.rm=T". The message is "Warning message: the condition has length > 1 and only the first element will be used in: if (na.rm) x <- x[!is.na(x)] ". This has never happened before. I don't recall having done

How to compare linear models with intercept and those without intercept using minimizing adjs R^2 strategy
Dear R-list, I apologize for my many emails but I think I know how to desctribe my problem differently and more clearly. My question is how to compare linear models with intercept and those without intercept using maximizing adjusted R^2 strategy. Now I do it like the following: > library(leaps) > n=20 > x=matrix(rnorm(n*3),ncol=3) > b=c(1,2,0) > intercept=1 >

features boxplot
Hallo, I just made a boxplot with the following command: boxplot(vsnrg$M~col(vsnrg$M)) When I now look at the plot. On the x-axis I just find numbers 1-6 because I have 6 datasets plotted. Now I want to add there the corresponding names which can be found in colnames(qrg). How can I realize this the online help does not help me. Thanks Corinna

normality tests [Broadcast]
The normality of the residuals is important in the inference procedures for the classical linear regression model, and normality is very important in correlation analysis (second moment)... Looking for a quick way to combine rows in a matrix
I'm working with genotype data in a frequency table: > a=matrix(1:16, nrow=4) > rownames(a)=c("AA","AT","TA","TT") > a [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] AA 1 5 9 13 AT 2 6 10 14 TA 3 7 11 15 TT 4 8 12 16 'AT' and 'TA' are essentially the same, and I'd like to combine (add) the rows to reflect

Interacting with dendrogram plots, locator() or click()
I would like to explore dendrogam plots interactively. For example, click on a node and return information about all of the children of that node. Is there a high level wrapper for locator() or click() that will return the nearest dendrogram node on a plot? If not, is there a way to obtain the [x,y] coordinates of all the nodes on a plot? Thanks, David David J. States, M.D., Ph.D. Professor

Potential minor GUI bug
Is this an interface bug? Using RGUI for windows I run into a "Not Responding" process (I "smartly" coded an infinite loop, yaiks!), I hit esc and the interpreter was stopped and I recovered the console functionality but the caption on the R icon in my windows taskbar (the individual icon shown for every software currently running in the session) was not updated so the

best choice of user database file to work with postfix?
I'm setting up a Postfix and Dovecot combination. What I want to do is have a user database that (1) is not running from some engine (so not LDAP or SQL or such) ... and (2) is completely disassociated from system users (e.g. most email users are not in /etc/passwd and most /etc/passwd users are not email users). Ideal would be a one-file solution, which can be managed by text editing or

Delete files from R
Hi, I have a file: d:\foo.txt and want to delete this. I tried: system("del d:/foo.txt") works not system("notepad d:/foo.txt") works Is it possible that I can't delete files or do I have misunderstood something? (del is a DOS-command. The "string works" under DOS "\") Thanks a lot Thomas ----- Windows XP R 1.6.2 (update!, I know)

Hi R-hackers I try to write a batch (in Windows, i have to use!) with Rcmd BATCH D:\Test.R D:\Test.Rout and Rterm.exe --no-restore --no-save < D:\Test.R > D:\Test.Rout. In my file Test.R are any tk-codelines (like: Window1 <- tktoplevel(); ... tkbutton...). It works not interactifly, what is written in Rcmd BATCH --help. Exist there a way to do it all the same? Please help...

bigglm() results different from glm()
Dear all, I am using the bigglm package to fit a few GLM's to a large dataset (3 million rows, 6 columns). While trying to fit a Poisson GLM I noticed that the coefficient estimates were very different from what I obtained when estimating the model on a smaller dataset using glm(), I wrote a very basic toy example to compare the results of bigglm() against a glm() call. Consider the

conditional value assignment
Dear R-Help, I am trying to compute a new variable, let's call it "target cannon orientation (tco)" based conditionally on old variables, "TargetColor," "CannonOriB," and "CannonOriR." For every case in the data set, if TargetColor is "B" then I want tco to equal the value for that case of CannonOirB, else CannonOriR. I've tried writing
