akima interp results to zero with less than 10 values
The akima package has a problematic license (it doesn't allow commercial use), so it's been recommended that people use the interp package instead. When I use interp::interp instead of akima::interp, I get reasonable output from your example. So that's another reason to drop akima... Hello
Hello, I am facing a problem in drawing heat map using R. I have a 70X3 matrix and I want to draw a heat map with 1 coloumn on X axis another on Y axis and want to show the value of 3rd coloumn using heat colours. Could you please help me with this . Thank you . Regards, Sumit [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

akima interp results to zero with less than 10 values
Dear all I have this table > dput(mat) mat <- structure(c(2, 16, 9, 2, 16, 1, 1, 4, 7, 7, 44.52, 42.8, 43.54, 40.26, 40.09), dim = c(5L, 3L)) And I want to calculate result for contour or image plots as I did few years ago. However interp does not compute the z values and gives me zeros in z matrix. library(akima) > interp(mat[,1], mat[,2], mat[, 3], nx=5, ny=5) $x [1] 2.0 5.5

"attach" in R corr. to Spus one
Hi, I am a newbie to R, just trying to switch from Splus. I am wondering to know if there is any such command in R as "attach" in Splus which can be used to attach the full directory. Also, any idea/referrence about, how to load c functions in R would be highly appreciated. Thanks, Utsav

image() plot with z not in matrix format
Hello R cracks The image() function requires strictly increasing x and y values and z as a matrix. Actually, I don't have equally spaced variables, but anyway want to plot an colored image() (with z-information). An example of my problem is here: a<-data.frame(rnorm(100), rnorm(100), runif(100)*100) How can I plot this data as an image (x=a[,1], y=a[,2] and z=a[,3])-> according to

persp graphs
Hi, I am doing my way on R, with much experimenting. So, I am trying to plot a 3d graphic ussing "persp" and entering a data set (attached) of UTM coordinates as x,y and a pH values as z. However when I try an error message comes out telling that increasing x and y values are expected. Jus ordering the first vector does not help, and, of course, order the first two independently

question on image() function?
Dear friends, My dataset is like the following: x y mcpvalue 0.4603578 0.6247629 1.001 0.4603715 0.6247788 1.001 0.4603852 0.6247948 1.001 0.4110561 0.5664841 0.995 The x and y variables are unsorted. I use the function image(x,y,mcpvalue) to generate a plot, but the error is that "increasing 'x' and

Contour plot for arbitrary (x,y,z)
Hello. Is there an easy-to-use contour plot function analogous to scatterplot3d that can draw handle a dataset of arbitrary (x,y,z) triplets? That is, say x, y, and z are each measured quanties, and exhibit neither order nor regularity. I looked at the lattice package function "contourplot" but it seems complicated, and it's not clear from the documentation whether it can

Plotting 3d data?
Hi all! I'm very new to R, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to go from a file of points that I have to a 3d surface plot of the data. I typically have something like this: X Y Z 0.005 0.023 34.45 0.0035 0.63 28.48 . I've tried looking at the persp and wireframe packages, and the rgl package, but I can't seem to figure out how to

Deploying My Rails App
I have just finished my first Rails application following the lynda.com tutorial, but I am not sure how to get my application on the internet. I have an ftp account through the applemachine server, but from what I have read, I''m afraid I will not be able to host my application there. What I am looking for is step by step directions on how to get from a working Ruby on Rails application

persp/ scatterplot3d
Dear WizaRds, I would like to create a 3d-plot with persp(). I sampled 17 points with xyz-coordinates (real-life example!), representing the peaks of the whole plane with "zero coordinates" x=3,y=3,z=3. My intention is to show which entries are above or below the "zero" level with persp() on a nicely created grid. I also tried scatterplot3d(), but, alas, I am unable

[Mailman] question: contour plot for discrete data
Question: I have matrix (n x3) that represents discrete data. Each row of matrix is 3-D point (x,y,z). I would like to get contour map (z value) at two dimension (x,y). How can I use related contour function to do this job? I am not sure if I clarify this question. For example, we can get point (x,y) at 2 dimension according to first two columns of matrix. Then I want to connect same value

how to know when a system is compromised
How do you know when a Linux system has been compromised?? Every day I watch our systems with all the typical tools, ps, top, who, I watch firewall / IPS logs, I have logwatch setup and mailing daily summaries to me and I dive deeper into logs if something looks suspicious. What am I missing or not looking at that you security gurus are looking at? I subscribe to the centos and SANS

How to Import Data
Hello, I am a very new user of R. I've spent several hours trying to import data, so I feel okay asking the list for help. I had an Excel file, then I turned it into a "csv" file, as instructed by directions. My filename is "x111.csv." I then used the following commands to read this (fairly small) dataset in. x111 <-read.table(file='x111.csv',

newie help needed
hi, I am a system admin who has just set up R-2.3.1 in suse 9.1 (opteron) for a previous windows user. Please forgive any obvious stupid questions :) We are struggling with a number of things. 1. is there a gui interface ? How do we use it ? R --gui just gets us to the command line. 2. how do we do unix commands like cd ? 3. can we define default directories - eg for data files ? 4.
