Rsync and trying to mirror Linux user areas
As root, I am trying to mirror a Redhat 7.3 Linux user area onto another Redhat 7.3 Linux box using rsync. This is using the following type of command: rsync -a -v --stats --safe-links However, rsync cannot mirror most of the user area because of the default permissions for the user areas. e.g., opendir(user1): Permission denied opendir(user2): Permission denied drwx------ 3 user1

rsync: network "bind interfaces only" command for rsync?
Hi, Is there a network interface listen command for rsync so that for a system with multiple network cards and multiple IP addresses - rsync will only be visible on a defined interface and defined IPs? Like in samba?: e.g., bind interfaces only = True interfaces = eth0 193.xy.zz.aa 193.xy.zz.ab Can't seem to find such a thing in the documentation. Cheers, Lachlan.

Rsync and "ignore nonreadable" and timeout
Hi, Can anyone send me an example config file that makes use of ignore nonreadable timeout 600 When I try to put this in a module - rsync seems happy but it gets nasty logfile messages when a client connects to the server. Finding points with equal probability between normal distributions
Dear mailing list, For two normal distributions, e.g: r1 =rnorm(20,5.2,2.1) r2 =rnorm(20,4.2,1.1) plot(density(r2), col="blue") lines(density(r1), col="red") Is there a way in R to compute/estimate the point(s) x where the density of the two distributions cross (ie where x has equal probability of belonging to either of the two distributions)? Many Thanks Eleni

RSYNC: Any Idiots guides out there
There is a rather rambling tutorial at: http://www.ccp14.ac.uk/ccp14admin/rsync/ (this does not have ssh tunnelling in there) Though for the following - if the files are owned by root - root will be the only one able to rsync them across? Maybe creating a special account with some extra file privaledges but not 100% root could get the job done for you? Lachlan. > I need to set-up

Rsync Re: Trailing /
What should be the official behaviour here? I must admit some of my scripts probably have both trailing and non-trailing "/". But just played around until it was mirroring into the correct directory. Using predict.glm for classification
Dear R users, I'm trying to understand how to derive the actual predictions (in terms of class) using predict.glm. Consider this example: mydf=data.frame(A=sample(rnorm(1000), size=1000, replace=T), B=sample(rnorm(5), size=1000, replace=T), C=sample(rnorm(10), size=1000, replace=T), class=sample(c("a", "b"), size=1000, replace=T)) mydf.glm=glm(class ~ .^2, data=mydf,

for loops and counter interpolation
Hi I'm sorry about the triviality of my problem. I have a vector (v) of three columns (logA, logB, id). I want to compute (and plot) the correlation between logA and logB for different thresholds of id (e.g. >30, etc). So I tried: for(i in 1:100){ points(cor(v$logA[v$id>i], v$logB[v$id>i], use="complete.obs"), i)) } (i created a plot object already) but it comes with

Multiple imputation using mice with "mean"
Hi I am trying to impute missing values for my data.frame. As I intend to use the complete data for prediction I am currently measuring the success of an imputation method by its resulting classification error in my training data. I have tried several approaches to replace missing values: - mean/median substitution - substitution by a value selected from the observed values of a variable - MLE

Does Samba 3 work in a Windows 2008 R2 with NO WINS and NO NETBIOS
Hopefully a quick question. My Windows AD administrator is moving to Windows 2008R and is about to switch off the last Windows 2003 domain controller. He also wants to switch off the compatible WINS and NETBIOS off as well. Does samba 3 work in this environment or do I need to tell him to keep then working? Rsync: Re: patch to enable faster mirroring of large filesystems
Is there any chance this can be added into the distribution as it sounds really nifty. Another suggestion unless I have read the following - would it be useful to have a command option in rsync to generate the file list by doing the "find" and outputting into a standard format? (As this would make it less OS specific or kludgy?) Cheers, Lachlan. At 16:06 19/11/01 -0500, you wrote:

ggplot2: mixing colour and linetype in geom_line
Hi all, I try to represent a multiple curve graphic where the x-axis is the temperature and the different y-axes are the different X (X22,X43,X44...) some X corresponds to the same molecule (22 and 44 are for CO2 for instance) so I use the same colour for them. I wanna mix the linetype with the colour to be able to visually see the difference between X43 and X45 The best I have done up to now

Extreme AIC or BIC values in glm(), logistic regression
Dear R-users, I use glm() to do logistic regression and use stepAIC() to do stepwise model selection. The common AIC value comes out is about 100, a good fit is as low as around 70. But for some model, the AIC went to extreme values like 1000. When I check the P-values, All the independent variables (about 30 of them) included in the equation are very significant, which is impossible, because we

smbclient returns error when NetBIOS disabled on Windows Server
Hello, I have noticed that smbclient returns an error code when a windows server has disabled NetBIOS, but should it do this, if you know NetBIOS has been disabled. I think there should be a flag to indicate that you don't want to check port 139 (NetBIOS). For example the following command which tries to connect to a Windows server with NetBIOS disabled returns an ERROR! $ smbclient -L
