change plotting symbol for groups in trellis graph
Hi, how can I change the plotting symbol for the groups in a trellis panel dotplot. My graph is similar to: library(trellis) dotplot(variety ~ yield | site, data = barley, groups = year, key = simpleKey(levels(barley$year), space = "right"), xlab = "Barley Yield (bushels/acre) ", aspect=0.5, layout = c(1,6), ylab=NULL) I'd like to

ggplot facet: change layout of panels
Hi, is there anyway to adjust how ggplot(facet=) displays the layout of panels? I have a dataset with many 25 groups and gplot(y,x,facet= .~group) displays all 25 y~x plots next to each other so overall the plot is too wide. if i do the same plot in lattice xyploy(y~x|group) the y~x plots are arranged nicely 5 in each row to overall the plots is a nice 5 by 5 rectangular grid. Is there any way

... and the mailing list is picky about attachments... whatever you attached did not conform to the stringent requirements mentioned in the Posting Guide. Pasting the code right into the email is usually safest, though you DO have to post using plain text (as the Posting Guide indicates) or your code may get mangled by the automatic html format removal. Unless there is good reason not to, always cc the list -- there are lots of smarter folks than I on it who can help. I may or may not have time to look at this. Hopefully someone else will. -- Bert Bert Gunter "The trouble with having an open mind is that people keep coming along and sticking things into it." -- Opus (aka Berkeley Breathed in his "Bloom County" comic strip

OK, Let's try this again! Here is the reproducible script; it is long because I had to copy the panel dataset here. My question is related to systemfit; I don't know how to get the result for the entire panel. #Reproducible script Empdata<- read.csv("/Users/ngwinuiazenui/Documents/UPLOADemp.csv") View(Empdata) install.packages("systemfit")

Sadly you failed to set your email program to send plain text and the data is corrupted at my end. I also think you need to reduce the size of the data set... the intent here is to increase your understanding, not debug your particular analysis. I will say that I am having a very challenging time understanding what you are trying to accomplish though. What are the equations that you think need

Transforming sequence data into numeric values.
Hi I am analysing from a behavioural experiment comparing left and right turns of snails. Basically I end up with a list of twenty values like this: R R R L R L L L L R R R R L L L R L R L I want to analyse runs of turns but would like to automate how this is processed and end up with a table that displays the frequency of the sequences (L, LL, LLL, R, RR, RRR etc). Is it possible to construct

Samba and Window 2003
I am trying to find a good how-to on setting up samba to use Windows 2003 for authentication, if anyone knows of a good link let me know. I am using RedHat ES 3 and our Windows is running in native mode with NT style authentication allowed. I cant use ADS and Kerberos because the current version of Kerberos on my RH server is 1.2.7 and from what I have read I need 1.3+ in order for it to work

Voicemail/Directory, one person, one box, two last names
So one of my employees just got married and is taking her husband's last name. As soon as her business cards run out she will be using the new last name for business as well. So for example is there a way to make it so that if someone goes to the directory to find her extension and they dial DOE it matches her or if they type SMI it matches her. Alternatively, can I make a new voicemail

cbind, data.frame | numeric to string?
Complete newbie to R -- struggling with something which should be pretty basic. Trying to create a simple data set (which I gather R refers to as a data.frame). So > a <- c(1,2,3,4,5); > b <- c(0.3,0.4,0.5,0,6,0.7); Stick the two together into a data frame (call test) using cbind > test <- data.frame(cbind(a,b)) Seems to do the trick: > test a b 1 1 0.3 2 2 0.4 3 3

Fwd: Bug report: cbind with numeric and raw gives incorrect result
Thanks Brodie, that's some nice detective work. If someone wanted to grant me access to Bugzilla, I'll be happy to post the bug and patch there (with your permission Brodie?) and help this bug get fixed. Mike. Installing plugins without svn:// access
Hi, I''m trying to get up and running with rspec on a new project. I''d like to install the rspec and rspec_on_rails plugins (per http://rspec.rubyforge.org/documentation/rails/install.html), but my corporate firewall blocks port 3690 so I can''t access the repository via svn:// I searched the docs and the mailing-list archive to figure out how to install the plugins

Openldap + Samba 3 PDC
I'm trying to get Samba up but I can't seem to get the LDAP connection working correctly. I can run a search from ldapsearch, but samba is complaining that it can't connect. Fwd: Bug report: cbind with numeric and raw gives incorrect result
Hi there, using cbind with a numeric and raw argument produces an incorrect result. I've posted some details below, kind regards, Mike. e.g. > cbind(0, as.raw(0)) [,1] [,2] [1,] 0 6.950136e-310 A longer example shows that the result is not a rounding error, is not consistent, and repeated applications get different results. > cbind(0, as.raw(1:10))

Problem over VPN
Hi all, Samba 3.0.14, Debian Sarge. I've asked on IRC but didn't get a response. I am having problems dragging files to my Samba share in Windows XP, over an IPSEC VPN. The file in question is a simple small text file. I have no problem directly creating and editing a file on the share. Here's the log: [2005/09/18 21:51:05, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_socket_with_timeout(321)

2 Node cluster crashing
Hi, We have a two node cluster running SLES 9 SP2 connecting directly to an EMC CX300 for storage. We are using OCFS(OCFS2 DLM 0.99.15-SLES) for the voting disk etc, and ASM for data files. The system has been running until last Friday when the whole cluster went down with the following error messages in the /var/log/messages files : rac1: Jul 7 14:56:23 rac1 kernel:

ARMA(1,1) for panel data
Dear List, I am new to TS-Modeling in R. I would like to fit an ARMA(1,1) model for a balanced panel, running Y on a full set of unit and year dummies using an arma(1,1) for the disturbance: y_it=unit.dummies+yeardummies+e_it where: e_it=d*e_it-1+u_it+q*u_it-1 How can I fit this model in R? arma() does not seem to take covariates (or I don't understand how to specify the function so that

Fwd: Bug report: cbind with numeric and raw gives incorrect result
For what it's worth the following patch fixes that particular problem on my system.? I have not checked very carefully to make sure this does not cause other problems, but at a high level it seems to make sense.? In this particular part of the code I believe `mode` is taken to be the highest type of "column" encountered by `ctype` and based on conditionals it can (I think) be up to

Joining a domain with a non-administrator account
I'm trying to set it up so I can join the domain with a regular user that is part of the domain admin group. I have a user dsonenberg that is in the domain admin group(512), but I can't join the domain with that account. For the record I can login with that account and Administrator can join the domain. transforming factor back to numbers
Hi I generate a new dataframe by doing: npl.agg <- aggregate(npl$DensPlants, list(year=npl$year, sim=npl$sim), mean, na.rm=TRUE ) Now I want to plot it by using coplot(npl.agg$x ~ npl.agg$year | npl.agg$sim, type="l") but, as npl.agg$year is seen as a factor, the order of the points on the x-axis (time axis) does not follow the numerical sorting 1...100, but rather the text
