reading a matrix from a file
Hello everyone, I'm writting a little script that will read a matrix from a file i.e. 0,.11,.22,.4 .11,0,.5,.3 .22,.5,0,.7 anb so on and will then calculate some standard stats for nets (i.e. centralization, degree, etc). So far I have opened the file and read the contents, however I' m using readLines(filename) to read the file and it returns it as

clustering coefficient
Hi all, I've been looking for a function that calculates "clustering coefficient" either Newman's or Wattson's. I have found different functions to calculate different "cluster" but I haven't found yet anything for clustering coefficient, it might be under a different name. Any ideas? devd question
I'm trying to make devd run an stty command whenever a USB serial device is attached. Unfortunately, $device-name is ucom[0-9] and the device names are /dev/cuaU[0-9] - how do I get the correct name in the device action? I haven't found a way to extract the number by itself, so I'm stuck with specifying a separate rule for each number, like so: attach 100 { device-name

about centralization
Hi all, Is there anyone who ever used igraph to calculate the index of "centralization" ? I tried my best but can't find it in igraph. The brief introduction to "centralization" can be found here , and I think it's an important index for measuring the centrality on the aggregated level.(http://faculty.ucr.edu/~hanneman/nettext/C10_Centrality.html) Thank you for any

Interesting file-sharing idea
This may be unrealistic and useless, but I've been thinking about an interesting file-sharing solution. In my system, only Ogg Vorbis files may be shared, and they should all be directly ripped from a CD. Nothing that someone would convert from MP3, etc. While that cannot be enforceable, it should be made clear. Also, track listings should be not filenames, but the Artist and Title of the

Nothing particular, i was just thinking it's cool to have a centralised way of dealing with logs when i was writing the list of potential todo stuff. igraph 0.6 released
Dear All, we have released version 0.6 of the igraph package today. This is a major new version, with a lot of new features, and (sadly) it is not completely compatible with code that was written for the previous igraph versions. (See "Major new features" below for details.) I have included below a list of (bigger) changes. Please see the details in the release notes and the NEWS

Icecast 2: planned stuff.
Syslog is the proper way to do logging on a UNIX/Linux system. In a serious production environment, you tend to be automatically disqualified from consideration for doing anything different -- it's just too much of a headache to figure out all the quirks of non-standard applications. On the other hand, if ICECAST was only ever intended as a hobby, then it really doesn't matter.

How can wine be available for all users?
I'm using kubuntu 8.04 and I'm able to run three programs that I installed but another user can't. Is there any way to make .wine available for all users? I thought about copying .wine to wine in /usr/lib/wine or /usr/bin/wine.

Newbie: Am I looking at the right tool?
Hi, I''m absolutely new to centralized server management, sorry sorry in advance for any stupid remarks. Looking on the puppet documentation, I mainly find a lot of info about how to manage the config files, but nothing about centralized control. So I''m wandering if I''m looking a the right software package for my needs. I want to be able to do the following from a

[cfe-dev] RFC: Moving toward Discord and Discourse for LLVM's discussions
FWIW I'm a fan of using open-source stuff for open-source projects. Discourse looks open source, but Discord doesn't as far as I can tell (?). [cfe-dev] RFC: Moving toward Discord and Discourse for LLVM's discussions
There *are* open-source Discord clients, 3rd party tools and the like. The corporation behind Discord is just not authorising you legally to use any of those tools at hand. There are rarely any technical barriers or countermeasures, though. ''Considered Harmful'' Considered Harmful
Because here in Puppet-land we''re all about self-reference and recursion, and because I actually have to give a talk at RubyConf next weekend about abusing self-reference, and because parent nodes aren''t considered harmful in my own world, I give you: http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000982.html I think it manages to somehow be both on- and off-topic at the same
