histbackback function
Hi, I'm trying to recreate a sensitivity-specificity graph using the histbackback function. The only problem is that these graphs are typically drawn with vertical rather than horizontal bar plots (and the histbackback function only seems to work with horiz=TRUE argument, using "horiz=FALSE" doesn't work). Does anyone know if: 1) there's a different graphing function that

SweaveListingUtils question
Hello, recently I read about the SweaveListingUtils package and now I want to try it out. However, I can not make it work... Below a minimal example. The problem seems to be the following line (generated by SweaveListingPreparations()?): \ifthenelse{\boolean{Sweave@gin}}{\setkeys{Gin}{width=0.6\textwidth}}{}% If I comment out this line, it works. What can I do about this? I am using the

Currency symbols in Xtick or Ytick labels
How do you label Xtick and Ytick marks with Currency symbols: $2000 instead of 2000? I would like to add dollar symbols to tickmarks on boxplots, histograms and back-to-back histograms. My Examples (requiring the lattice and Hmisc packages): data(case0102, package="Sleuth2") str(case0102) boxplot(Salary~Sex, case0102) histogram(~ Salary | Sex, data=case0102) require(Hmisc) #

Barchart in lattice package: controlling order of bars in plot and color of a selected bar
Hi, I'm using the lattice function 'barchart' to make a series of 4 histograms. Currently, the y-axis values are graphed in order of the y-axis variable. I'd like to have the y-axis values sorted in ascending order of the x-axis values so that the longest bar horizontally is on top of the graph (in it's seciton) and the shortest bar is on the bottom. I can do this in

histbackback function code needs a change with R 2.4.1 version (PR#9456)
Dear Author and Maintainer of Hmisc contributed package, Dear R developers, i noticed a problem with histbackback routine when i installed the last version of R (2.4.1) (With my previous version, 2.3.1, there was no such a problem) If, e.g., you simply edit the command > histbackback(rnorm(20), rnorm(30)) a warning message is printed on the console. Warning messages: 1: argument

Drawing lines in margins
Hi all, Quick question: What function can I use to draw a line in the margin of a plot? segments() and lines() both stop at the margin. In case the answer depends on exactly what I'm trying to do, see below. I'm using R v. 2.8.1 on Windows XP. Cheers, Alan I'm trying to make a horizontal barplot with a column of numbers on the right side. I'd like to put a line between the

avoid <<- in specific case
Hi all, I improved a function drawing horizontal histograms (code below) which uses barplot and works fine. It does, however, need to assign a function to the global environment to later find the actual location on the vertical axis, and not the number of bars used by barplot. Hopefully, running the examples below will illustrate that. As said, it works perfectly fine and does exactly what I

Histogram with two groups on the same graph (not on separate panels)
I have been trying to produce a histogram that has two groups (male and female snakes) on the same graph (either superimposed or each frequency bar appears side by side). I found a couple of functions for superimposed histogram written by other people. The below is the codes I used for my data containing a column of svl (body size; snout-vent length) and another column of sex (male or female).

Hmisc break points error
I am making frequency histograms using the histbackback function on my 2 datasets. However when I try to use the brks function: foo<-histbackback(log(fie11), log(fie86),ylim=c(0,9),probability=FALSE,axes=TRUE,ylab=("log10 Parcel Size"),brks=16) The graphic results in a 'NA' label for the y axis (no intervals are returned) Also when I use 'summary(foo)' the

complex plots using layout()
Dear r-help, I am trying to plot several scatter plots with marginal histograms on one page. Ideally, a page is equally divided into 4 figure regions. Within each figure region, a scatter plot with marginal histograms will be plotted. I followed Dr. Paul Murrell's code released online to successfully plot the scatter plot with marginal histograms. The code applies "layout()" to

color on barplot
Hello, On my barplot, I have on the axis y, the names of the rows of my matrix r_mat! is it possible to change the color of these names on my barplot? barplot2(t(r_mat),beside=TRUE,horiz=TRUE,plot.grid=TRUE,xlab="R",font.lab=4,las=2,xlim=c(0,1)) thanks, Sabine --------------------------------- [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Grouped AND stacked bar charts possible in R?
Good day all, My statisticians want an R procedure that will produce grouped stacked barplots. Barplot will stack or group, but not both. The ftable function can produce a table of the exact form they want, but the barplot doesn't show all the divisions we want. For an example, here's the sample from the help file for "ftable:" data(Titanic) ftable(Titanic, row.vars = 1:3)

Plotting 3 way Anova
Hi I'd really like to get a bar plot showing the means of my anova data. I have looked everywhere and can only seem to find instructions for 2 way anova's. I basically want to look at the mean condition of my subjects spilt by age, sex and year (as a factor rather than a continuous variable, hence Anova and not Ancova). and want to show it firstly as a bar graph with standard error. I

Barplot with grouping x axis and count data
Hello, I am trying to make a barplot with nested count data which is build like this: first there are several birds (n)laying 3 clutches composed of 2 eggs half of the second and third clutch received treatment and this treatment was tested to influence sex of offspring. I want a barplot showing counts for male and female for every egg of every clutch. can someone tell me what to do? I drew a

Superposed histograms
I woud like to plot cumulative histograms. Specifically, I have data like Sex M M F M F F M F Height 6 6.3 6.1 5.5 7.2 6.2 5.9 6.0 .... and I want to plot a histogram of the distribution of all heights, colouring the histogram bars according to sex, for example | o | oo o | o oo ** o o = observations of women | o o*o***o * = observations of

How to remove the vertical space between two graps
Hi, I have created a barplot using the following code. a<-c(11,23,15,34,42,31) m<-matrix(a,nrow=2) m[2,]<-(-1)*m[2,] par(mar=c(4,4,4,0)) barplot(m[2,],horiz=T) par(mar=c(4,0,4,2)) barplot(m[1,],horiz=T,col="black") and the plot obtained is shown in "plot1.tiff". I was not willing to see the gap (vertical space) between two graphs. How can I achieve it? Further
