Wishlist: Writing R Extensions suggestions RE: [R] vague errors on R CMD check for very minimal S4-style package (PR#8944)
Ah yes. There they are right on page 4 of "Writing R Extensions". The "LazyLoad: yes" was sufficient to avoid the check errors, but I'll add the "Depends: methods" as well. For the manual-impaired like me, it _may_ be worth reiterating these two requirements in section 1.6.6 "Name spaces with formal classes and methods" - right where the .onLoad

R CMD check failure on minimal code
I have a peculiar problem that I'm sure is a simple one, but I can't figure out what my mistake is. Can someone enlighten me? I have a simple file, class.R: ## setClass("abc",representation(a = "character", b = "ANY")) I have a package directory ExpressCGH1 made with package.skeleton. The package happily builds and installs, but R CMD check fails with

R CMD check, NAMESPACE, import: bad error?
I'm seeing errors with R CMD check that I don't understand when checking a package that uses a NAMESPACE file with an import directive. The imported package is listed in the DESCRIPTION file in the Imports field. DESCRIPTION contains: Imports: arules NAMESPACE contains: import(arules) The package builds without warnings and installs and loads just fine. But check has this to

Problem with C code under R2.2 only.
Dear R developers, Running a R CMD check under R2.2 gives me the error messages (appended to this e-mail) while the with R2.1 the check on the same package directory runs fine. To my knowledge the configuration of R2.2 and R2.1 on my machine are identical. * checking S3 generic/method consistency ... WARNING Error: .First.lib failed for 'SBMLodeSolveR' Call sequence: 2:

mac osx, g95 package port problem
Hi all, I have a working package for linux, including fortran 95 code compiled with g95, that I need to port to OS X. The package works on Linux and seems to load on the Mac, but when I try to run a function that calls C or Fortran I'm told that the symbol is not loaded. I'm developing via a shell account on an OS X system, I don't have access to a desktop. The set up is: R

Relationship between dyn.load and library.dynam
I am a little confused about the relationship between library.dynam and dyn.load >From the documentation: library.dynam(chname, Load the specified file of compiled code if it has not been loaded already, or unloads it. Where chname is a character string naming a shared library to load. and dyn.load(x, local = TRUE, now = TRUE) Load or unload shared libraries, and test whether a C function

optparse::parse_args, using equals sign or not
Hi We've found that when using parse_args(..., positional_arguments=FALSE), it is permissible to invoke our script with either "--myfoo=bar" or "--myfoo bar"; that is, whether or not the equals sign is present makes no difference, and in fact both usage forms are demonstrated in the optparse vignette. However, we've found that when using parse_args(...,

call a function with explicitly not setting an argument
Is there a way to call a function, and explicitly set an argument to 'not specified'? My situation is the following. I have a function which passes on most of its arguments to another function. The second function, myfun2, serializes all arguments and is out of my control. myfun <- function(...){ return(myfun2(...)); } now, the value for arguments of myfun are stored in variables.

[LLVMdev] LLVM-GCC & GV zeroinitializers, 2.5 vs 2.6.
Hello folks, I have a small piece of C code written like this: typedef struct { char a; int b; int c; } foo; foo myFoo[5] = {{0}}; With llvm-gcc 2.5, I get the following IR: %struct.foo = type { i8, i32, i32 } @myFoo = global [5 x %struct.foo] zeroinitializer, align 32 With the current 2.6, I get this: %0 = type { i8, [11 x i8] }

[LLVMdev] LLVM-GCC & GV zeroinitializers, 2.5 vs 2.6.
Hello Julien, I think the reason for the change was because there is processor context information stored in the type in 2.6. The reason it's there is to support multicore JIT architecture. --Sam ----- Original Message ---- > From: Julien Lerouge <jlerouge at apple.com> > To: LLVM Developers Mailing List <llvmdev at cs.uiuc.edu> > Sent: Thursday, September 10, 2009

Is it possible to define a function's arguments via a wildcard in 'substitute()'?
Dear List, just out of pure curiosity: is it possible to define a function via 'substitute()' such that the function's formal arguments are specified by a "wildcard" that is substituted when the expression is evaluated? Simple example: x.args <- formals("data.frame") x.body <- expression( out <- myArg + 100, return(out) ) expr <-

S4 class slot type S4 class
All, I am considering creating an S4 class whose slots (2) are both S4 classes. ?Since an S4 slot can be an S3 class I figure this can be done. ?However, the correct syntax of which I am unsure. ?Reviewing the docs I have come to the following conclusion: SetClass('myfoo', ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? slots = (foo1, foo2)) Without a type I believe each slot is .Data. ?A get method on the above

"couldn't find function" error message in R 2.1.1
Dear R-help, I have a home-made package works perfectly under R 1.9.1. Now I'm trying to port it to R > 2.0. So I rebuild the package under R 2.1.1. It installs and loads OK. But when I try to call some functions "myfoo" in this package, it returns error message: "Couldn't find function myfoo". I checked all available manuals, and didn't find any specific

Length of a string
Hi, Suppose I have created something like this in R: foo <- "myfoo" and I want to find out the number of character in foo (in other words, R should return 5 since "myfoo" has 5 charactors. How can I do it? I tried: length(foo) but it returned 1. Cheers, Kevin ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ko-Kang Kevin Wang
