can you recommend a good manual for R that starts with a data set and gives
demonstrations on what can be done using R? I downloadedR Langauage
definition and An introduction to R but haven't found them overly useful.
I'd really like to be able to follow some tutorials using a dataset or many
datasets. The datasets I have available on R are

Beginning R help?
Hi all,
I'm currently working through the "Beginner's Guide to R" (Zurr et al.) and
I'm wondering about the first exercise in chapter 3:
I imported the data from BirdFluCases.txt and executed the 'names' and 'str'
functions as follows:
Bird = read.table(file='C:\\rbook\\BirdFluCases2.txt', header=TRUE)
names(Bird)

OT: WAS: * found in Iraq!! NOW: Asterisk bus iness sightings
So I go into a new Apple store on Sat to buy some stuff for my Mini, and I
notice some Snom 360's on the sales counter. Venturing a question, I ask,
are they using Asterisk? Guys says yes. Cool! I said: What kind of box are
you using. He points to a Mini sitting on the counter! 2 X cool! He's using
a SIP-FX0 converter.

inconsistent output using 'round'
I am hoping for some advice regarding limiting decimal points to 3.
'Round' produces the desired results except for the 97.5% confidence interval.
Any advice as to how I modify the code to obtain output to 3 decimal
points for all ouput is appreciated,

fitted probabilities in multinomial logistic regression are identical for each level
I was hoping for some advice regarding possible explanations for the
fitted probability values I obtained for a multinomial logistic
regression. The analysis aims to predict whether Capgras delusions
(present/absent) are associated with group (ABH, SV, homicide; values
= 1,2,3,), controlling for previous violence. What has me puzzled is
that for each combination the fitted probabilities are

monty's branch test
Hello!
I tested some songs with the new code that Monty merged into the snapshot.
It works better than the previous code ;-), but I noticed some strange
noises made at high frequencies, even at very high bitrates : a continuous,
high-pitched noise is added over the medium voice, and it sounds like a
whistle. The previous code didn't do that. On the other hand, very low
bitrates sound much

It's OT but I thought it was funny enough to point out seeing this is a

cvs problem...
hello everyone!
i have a problem checking out the icecast cvs. the checkout stalls after
pulling timing/timing.h (no matter which module, they all seem to depend
on it). i have to kill it after a while.
am i doing anything wrong, or is your cvs botched ?
for now, i'm using a nightly snapshot, but i can't find ices2 in it, so
i tried to pull cvs. btw, the chroot feature is cool. i

Export restrictions on CentOS 5
What are the export restrictions on CentOS 5.x? Since it's a rebuild of
RHEL I'd suspect it has similar restrictions to what Red Hat has
outlined at the following page:
http://www.redhat.com/licenses/export/
Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

[LLVMdev] Validating LLVM

Sounds great. I'm not trying to push random testing on people who don't
want it, but I think it is useful to the LLVM project and it's not clear
that I have the resources to keep doing it myself indefinitely.
