Lattice key title color
Dear R users, is there a way to define the color of the title for the legend in lattice? The help page on xyplot has a lot of details on key options just as the new book, but no mentioning of a color attribute for the title. Should I use ltext or is there any other way? Best wishes, Erik [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

changing settings on a barchart (lattice)
Hello! I apologize - I never used lattice before, so my question is probably very basic - but I just can't find the answer in the archive nor in the documentation: I have a named numeric vector p of 6 numbers (of the type 6 numbers with people's names to whom those numbers belong). I want a simple bar chart. I am doing: library(lattice) trellis.par.set(fontsize=list(text=12)) #

lattice grayscale "theme"
Hi, is there a grayscale setting for lattice plots? I like the default color settings. I also like the settings that are available for setting black and white with something like this: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- ltheme <- canonical.theme(color = FALSE) ## in-built B&W theme ltheme$strip.background$col <- "transparent" ##

superpose.polygon, panel.polygon and their colors
Dear R-helpers, the problem I'm facing today is to convince lattice to paint some areas in gray. The areas I would like to have in gray, are confidence bands I've googled around in the mailing list archives and eventually find some clues. This link is my starting point http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e2/help/07/04/15595.html I'm reproducing here the code for your convenience est

two issues (black and white trellis graphics)
On the first issue, there's a recent post you can find in the archives. It's from Deepayan Sarkar on January 2 this year. It would probably pop up on a search for "black white lattice" or something similar. The key part of his answer: I'd do something like this as part of the initialization: <<...>> library(lattice) ltheme <- canonical.theme(color = FALSE)

Unnecesary code?
Dear R-ers, While browsing the R sources, I found the following piece of code in src\main\memory.c: static void reset_pp_stack(void *data) { R_size_t *poldpps = data; R_PPStackSize = *poldpps; } To me, it looks like the poldpps pointer is a nuissance; can't you just cast the data pointer and derefer it at once? Say, static void reset_pp_stack(void *data) { R_PPStackSize = *

par(mfcol=2, mfrow=3) equivalent for trellis
Dear friends of lattice, I know how to position trellis plots with print(...,split,more=T) or (...position). Sometimes I wish I had something like the old "par(mfcol=2, mfrow=3)" mechanism, where the next free viewport is automatically chosen. I tried fiddling with grid-viewports, but could not find an easy solution. Did I miss something? Dieter Menne

Getting SING errors
Hello! I'm getting SING errors from the log() function. Here is the code inside the vbr_analysis() function. if (ener<60000) { if (vbr->consec_noise>2) qual-=0.5*(log(3.0 + vbr->consec_noise)-log(3)); if (ener<10000&&vbr->consec_noise>2) qual-=0.5*(log(3.0 + vbr->consec_noise)-log(3)); if (qual<0) qual=0;

Grayscale figures in odfWeave?
Dear list, I am sorry if this is a FAQ, but I have just started using odfWeave for report construction and it seems not to behave exactly like Sweave. I want to get my figures in grayscale, but the tip given in the FAQ of Sweave http://www.stat.uni-muenchen.de/~leisch/Sweave/FAQ.html#x1-10000A.8 only produces gray scale images in the screen output, not in the odf document. This is my init code:

Black and white graphics and transparent strip panels with lattice under Sweave
What is the most elegant way to specify that strip panels are to have transparent backgrounds and graphs are to be in black and white when lattice is being used with Sweave? I would prefer a global option that stays in effect for multiple plots. If this is best done with a theme, does anyone have a lattice theme like col.whitebg but that is for black and white? I'm using the following

Stangle and annotate
How exactly should I go about turning off annotation when running Stangle (Rtangle) with "R CMD Stangle myfile.Rnw"? Ideally I would like to be able to turn annotation off and on for individual code chunks, or maybe better, to annotate only named chunks. Are either of these things easily done? Is there some way to figure out this sort of thing without reading through the source code

Trellis stacked bar legend
Dear R-Listers, (well... called Depayan) The standard example barchart(yield ~ variety | site, data = barley, groups = year, layout = c(1,6), stack = TRUE, auto.key = list(points = FALSE, rectangles = TRUE, space = "right"), ylab = "Barley Yield (bushels/acre)", scales = list(x = list(rot = 45))) shows the problem: legend colors are inverted compared to

How to make two side-by side trellis plots same size
Dear Latticers, I want to position two trellis plots of different forms side-by-side. The plot types are slightly different, aspect=1 required, but panels should look the same in both plots. Current workaround uses a guessed factor. Any way to improve this? Dieter library(lattice) n1 = 20 # I cannot rbind df1 and df2, because the x-dimensions are # different and must be scaled individually

uniform and clumped point plots
I am trying to generate two dimensional random coordinates. For randomly distributed data I have simply used >xy<-cbind(runif(100),runif(100)) However I also want to generate coordinates that are more uniformly distributed, and coordinates that are more contagiously distributed than the above. Can anyone make any suggestions Thanks. Dr Terry Beutel Rangeland Scientist Animal

R CMD check for the R code from vignettes
Hi, Recently I saw a couple of cases in which the package vignettes were somewhat complicated so that Stangle() (or knitr::purl() or other tangling functions) can fail to produce the exact R code that is executed by the weaving function Sweave() (or knitr::knit(), ...). For example, this is a valid document that can pass the weaving process but cannot generate a valid R script to be source()d:

Latex and Stangle()
Hi, I'm using the Sweave and I would like include codes of the R in my LaTeX file. I extracts the R code with Stangle (), whose name is Relatorio.R but I can't include it in the Latex file as an appendix. Suggests?
