wavelet toolbox
Is there a wavelet toolbox in R available that can be compared to the Matlab toolbox for wavelets. Does this toolbox offer the possibility to calculated approximations with different wavelets such as Daubechies 2, Daubechies 3, etc, Symmlet 3, Symmlets 5, etc, Coiflets and so on. I have tried to proceed in this way but I was only able to use one sort of wavelets with a pre-fixed order (i.e.

wavelet compression references
Hi everyody, ince some of you asked for references, here some links: A good book is 'Data Compression' from David Salomon, ISBN 0-387-98280-9. Papers available on the web: A nice introduction to wavelets is http://cm.bell-labs.com/who/wim/papers/athome/ A somewhat theoretical paper about integer wavelet transform http://cm.bell-labs.com/who/wim/papers/integer.ps.gz Since Peter

2d wavelet transforms
I've been reading up on wavelet transforms the past week, and I plan to start on some video compression stuff next week, if it's any good (small chance :)) for Tarkin. So far I think I know what's happening, however there's one small thing I don't quite understand yet. If I understand correctly, you can do a 2d wavelet transform (I'm assuming a Haar transform here for

package "wavelets" does nor recognize filter "d2"
I take the liberty of pasting the on-line documentation for package "wavelets", functions "dwt" and "wt.filter", pertinent to the wavelet/filter choice. While I apologize for my verbose messages with huge attachments, I encourage whoever loads packages to CRAN to take some minutes to reread the attached documentation. Usage dwt(X, filter="la8", n.levels,

R: Fortran 90 etc.
I have tried to compile the working Fortran-90 routines (see attachment) to interface them with R. The compiler automatically caled by R CMD command line prints a bunch of error messages (as follows). I think I'm better off translating the Fortran implementation into R ... which is what I hoped I could avoid. Maura host705:Desktop mauede$ R CMD SHLIB ford.f90 gfortran -arch i386

Lifting Wavelet Transform
Hi R users   Thanks in advance   Is lifting wavelet transform implemented in R? If so, which package or codes  can be used for performing that?    assaedi76@yahoo.com   Thanks     [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Passing dhcp-options
Hi, I'm running some Windows clients inside KVM virtual maschines managed by libvirt. These clients are managed by a Samba 3 PDC. Therefore the DHCP needs so supply corresponding WINS server (dhcp option 44) not only IP address and DNS server. Is it possible to make dnsmasq driven by libvirt to supply custom dhcp options? I would appreciate something like this in the network.xml: [...]

Cannot create macvlan devices on this platform
Hi, libvirt (0.9.11) refuses to start KVM based virtual machines on my system when changing the network connection from "host bridge" to "direct" (macvtap/macvlan), neither in "bridge" nor in "vepa" mode: "Cannot create macvlan devices on this platform" That's astonishing because I can easily setup working macvlan devices using the

Wavelet recunstruction
Hi There, I tried to find a function in {waveslim} or {wavethresh} in order to recunstruct the decomposed signals. As far as I found there is no function in {waveslim} to recunstruct decomposed data. The function wr{wavethresh} recunstructs the results of wd function. Apart from its limitations ( for example the length of vector must be power of 2 ) it apparently doesn't work with the

Fwd: Re: Wavelet reconstruction
I realized that I may not have answered the question you were asking and that no one else has responded. I can across a similar problem and may have an answer to your question now. If you have both the wavelet coefficients and the scaling coefficients then create a fake sequence of the same length as the original and decompose that sequence using wd form wavethersh with the same wavelet family

Wavelet Bootstrap Size Simulation
I have written a short script to estimate the size of a test of non-constant mean in an AR(1) time series. When I run the simulation on my PC (R version 2.7.1), I get the expected result: an empirical size much larger than the nominal size. On the Red Hat machine (R version 2.7.2) in my department, however, I get p-values > .45 for every simulated test. Below is my simulation code (uses

glmer, Error: Downdated X'X is not positive definite,49
Dear list, I am new to this list and I am new to the world of R. Additionally I am not very firm in statistics either but have to deal. So here is my problem: I have a dataset (which I attach at the end of the post) with a binomial response variable (alive or not) and three fixed factors (trapping, treat, sex). I do have repeated measures and would like to include one (enclosure) random factor. I
