hi netters:
I have a series of discrete variables which form a network and I want to
learn the network structure from some training data. I could have used
packages like deal but there are two problems.
First of all, I have 10000 variables. So the possible network structure is
awfully huge, I don't know how long it will take my PC to find the
highest-scoring network..........maybe a

Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
Absolutely!! That was one thing that I was missing and would have like
to have included.
You can either send me the data or let us know the link. If you wouldn't
mind adding to this HOWTO and I will post a link to your page so that
people would know where I got the original files.
Sounds good.

Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
Howdy. I just posted an unofficial HOWTO on configuring icecast2 on a
Linux or other UNIX machine. It's just a draft in DocBook format, but I
was hoping it might help someone. I've worked enough with icecast over
the past few years that I thought it time to share what I've learned.
The URL is as follows: http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
So basically, I download and install ices 0.3, fire it up as well and
then using the currently running icecast server, just set a new
mountpoint. Instead of /ksl.ogg I would make a /ksl.mp3 mountpoint. This
would be configured in the configuration file included with ices 0.3?
I am only doing live streaming, feeding a raw audio feed into the box,
and then encoding it on the fly.
Thanks much.

Moving clients and JOrbis
One solution might be to make a named pipe (mkfifo live), add that item
to your playlist, and pipe data into that pipe. It works fine for local
files (cat music.ogg > live), but when I try with for example "wget
http://icecast2.ksl.com:8000/ksl.ogg -O live" ices keeps giving:

Simplest script to backup many Linux servers
Okay, I've been lurking on this list for several weeks and have finally
gotten rsync to work well when transferring files from one box to
another. It is really great for passing lots of files from one machine
to another, i.e. ripped MP3 to my home Linux machine, as one example.
Now I am ready to take the next big step.
I have a large 1.5 terabyte server from Raidzone that I have NFS mounted

streaming ogg and mp3 on the same machine
I have been able to successfully stream ogg vorbis as both a playlist
and as a live stream off my icecast2 server here using port 8000. Works
great.
I can also stream MP3 live audio using darkice and icecast2 off the same
box using port 8001.
But I have been unable to create a situation where I can stream *both"
ogg and mp3 off the same machine. I have even created a new icecast
directory to

relaying using latest builds
Does anyone have a working configuration of relaying using icecast-2.0.0
and ices-2.0-Beta4? Also, anyone using multiple streams from the master
server to the slave?
I had relaying and multiple streams working great using a CVS download
sometime ago and tried setting it up with the latest builds and it is
appears to work, but no sound is coming from the slave box. Also, some
of the syntax has

parsing icecast 1 and icecast2 logs in GUI web format
I know this was mentioned some time back, but I am curious if anyone has
had any further success with this. My radio station is looking for a
nice clean comprehensive overview of all connections to our icecast 1
and 2 servers. Someone had tweaked the webalizer program to render all
the stats in a nice GUI format. However, there were still a couple items
missing.
Just wondering what everyone else

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
I've gotten a request from another broadcasting partner to set up yet
another streaming audio server. They would like to stream in both ogg
and mp3 formats from off a single icecast machine. I have been searching
through the archives and I have seen this mentioned as being possible,
but no real configurations.
I would of course place LAME on the box and use that for streaming just
as I would

subscription services on icecast2
I just got a query from a user regarding icecast2 and thought I'd throw
it out to the mailing list. Is it possible to set up some sort of
subscription to an icecast2 audio feed?
A student at the University of Cincinnati wants to create a subscription
service to an indie radio station and have users sign up, and then get a
login to the stream. They would have an unique username and password.

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
darkice is an execellent bit of software, very well written. and the
author of the darkice software, akos, is very active on the darkice ML.

example config for icecast2 relaying
Is anyone doing pull relaying under icecast2? I think I've got my
configuration file more or less correct but I wanted to check it against
someone else's working config. Would anyone be willing to post an
example here?
I have a machine labelled X in a local DMZ where audio is being fed in
directly. I am encoding this audio and then streaming it out. I have a
machine labelled Y that sits at

icecast/ices
Marco,
I have some preliminary HowTos and software available at
http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/
It's not as nice as http://www.6809.org.uk/kja3/ices2-howto.shtml, but
I'm working to make it better as I become more familiar. Hope it helps.
The ices2 program is designed for .ogg streaming while icecast-1.3.12
and related streamers, MuSE, liveice and DarkIce will still stream .mp3
quite nicely.

jointprior in deal package
Dear all,
I recently started using the deal package for learning Bayesian
networks. When using the jointprior function on a particular dataset, I
get the following message:
>tor.prior<-jointprior(tor.nw)
Error in array(1, Dim) : 'dim' specifies too large an array
What is the problem? How can I resolve it?
Thanks,
Tim

icecast2 and static files
If you check this unofficial howto at http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/ then you
will find an example xml config file for ices which allows you to server
static music files. However, you will need to remove the 'encoding' section of
the file as on my system it would reencode on the fly as long as that section
existed.

Upss cannot install
Hey, had the same problem. Check my notes via the link I sent earlier
today, http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/
Look for the section with your same problem. apt-get works well in
getting this fixed.
Hope that helps. This is a easily fixable problem.

icecast1 and compilation on RH9
I know that icecast-1.3.12 is deprecated and for a good reason. I wanted
to test it out on my Red Hat 9 box today. I found that it would not
compile. Has anyone else seen this?
What I wanted to try was testing streaming MP3 audio and relaying
encoded icecast audio from one machine to another again. Is there an
easy way to accomplish relaying from one machine to another using
icecast2.
I have
