a question about a simply figure
I think there is a question in R. I donot know the reason.
This is my data about comulative percentage figure. The result is not right.
The first point (no=1,leiji=26.94350) in the plot figure was showen in a
lower location. Why?
Thanks !

delete rows
Hello. I came across your response in an R forum and could use your help. I have a data set with 472 rows. I want to delete rows 416 through 472. The name of my data set is MERGE.
I am an extreme R novice. How do I write a script to accomplish this?
Thank you.

Rai and Van Ryzin Model
R-users,
Has anyone implemented (coded) the Rai and Van Ryzin dose-response model from
their 1985 Biometrics paper. I'm trying to avoid re-inventing the wheel. If not
any hints on coding this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Generating series of distributions with the same skewness and different kurtosis or with same kurtosis and different skewness?
Dear R users,
I hope to explain the concepts of skewness and kurtosis by generating
series of distributions with same skewness and different kurtosis or with
same kurtosis and different skewness, but it seems that i cannot find the
right functions.
I have searched the mailing list, but no answers were found.
Is it possible to do that in R? Which function could be used?
Thanks a lot.

e1071::skewness and psych::skew return NaN
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know what would cause the skewness() function (from
e1071), as well as skew() from psych, to return a value of NaN?
I have a vector of positively-skewed data
(https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6-m45Jvl3ZmYzlHRVRHRURzbVk/edit?usp=sharing)
which these functions return a value for like normal:

but when I instead give those

How to plot the grid figure using R?
Now I have the forest plot data with x, y locations, and I measured the DBH for every indivicuals.
The data looks like that:

y=runif(100,0,100)
dbh=runif(100,1,100)
rdata=data.frame(x,y,dbh)

Optimized Likelihoods
R-Users,
I'm in the process of developing some notes on optimizing likelihoods
for a class I'm teaching next term. Can anyone offer examples showing
the optimization of a complex likelihood function that they wouldn't
mind sharing using optim(). I've adapted some of the S-plus likelihood
examplesfrom the ``Guide to Statistics" and the Zip example from ``Statistical

Skewness test
Hi,
is there a test for the H0 skewness=0 (or with skewness as test
statistic and normality as H0) implemented in R?
Thank you,
Christian

Samba LDAP caching when LDAP server unavailable - possible?
I've been using Samba with OpenLDAP with great success on normal servers.
Recently however, it appeared to us that for remote locations it is more
economically viable to replace Samba servers with Samba running on
little routers like ASUS WL-500g with openwrt firmware/software.
It has a broadcom/mipsel CPU, and thanks to openwrt
(http://openwrt.org), it is possible to run lots of software

Skewness and Kurtosis
Hi,
in which R-package I could find skewness and kurtosis
measures for a distribution?
I built some functions:
gamma1<-function(x)
{
m=mean(x)
n=length(x)
s=sqrt(var(x))
m3=sum((x-m)^3)/n
g1=m3/(s^3)
return(g1)
}
skewness<-function(x)
{
m=mean(x)
me=median(x)
s=sqrt(var(x))
sk=(m-me)/s
return(sk)
}
bowley<-function(x)
{
q<-as.vector(quantile(x,prob=c(.25,.50,.75)))

stumped on how to reorder factors
I am trying to reorder a factor data type so that when I plot stats
associated with the factor, the ordering makes sense.
For instance, if I have a factor entered as follows ...
A = as.factor(c("1", "10", "3", "3", "10", "10"))
levels(A)
... the ordering does not really make sense (assuming I want the factor
ordered by integer

moments, skewness, kurtosis
I checked the help and the mailing list archives, but I can
find no mention of a routine that calculates higher
moments like skewness and kurtosis. Of course, these
are easy enough to write myself, but I was thinking
that they MUST be in here. Am I wrong?
Thanks.

Coefficient of skewness
Hi,
Is there a function in R to calculate the coefficient of skewness of
some data? I had expected there to be one, but can find no information
about it.
Thanks for any pointers.

alternative option in skewness and kurtosis tests?
I have a question about the D'Agostino skewness test and the Anscombe-Glynn
kurtosis test.
agostino.test(x, alternative = c("two.sided", "less", "greater"))
anscombe.test(x, alternative = c("two.sided", "less", "greater"))
The option "alternative" in those two functions seems to be the null
hypothesis. In the output, the

skewness and kurtosis in e1071 correct?
I wonder whether the functions for skewness and kurtosis in the e1071
package are based on correct formulas.
The functions in the package e1071 are:

skewness <- function (x, na.rm = FALSE)
{
if (na.rm)
x <- x[!is.na(x)]
sum((x - mean(x))^3)/(length(x) * sd(x)^3)

Generate rand. data with zero skewness and some kurtosis
Dear all,
Right now, I'm doing research about outlier in statistical data
(univariate and multivariate) and I want to simulate its behavior. My
problem is :
How to generate random data from distribution with zero skewness and
some kurtosis values in R ?
