Could not load 'SOUND.DLL' required by 'sierrawh', error=2
Hello list, I'm trying to get some old windows Win95/98 games to run without too much luck. This example is a Sierra Hoyle Classic Games CD from 1998, which should be enough to keep my wife happy without having to reboot my computer back into windows...if I can get it to work. The installer itself runs fine, and even plays a sample sound clip to test the sound before installing. After

Connecting to PostgreSQL/PostGIS from R (rgdal?)
Hello, I've been trying every now and then to find a cross operating system solution that would let me access PostgreSQL (and PostGIS) from R, or to access R from PostgreSQL. I know of pl/r, which accomplishes the latter, but has yet to be successfully ported to Windows. Similarly, I've tried to use Rdbi and DBI, but I haven't had luck with those on Windows either for connecting to

Decimals in R/SQL
Hello, When I am writing in sqldf or RSQLite I lose the decimals in my matrix. The only way I can get decimals is by multiplying by 1.00000, etc. I have tried manipulating the options, but it is only effective once I multiply by 1.0000. I appreciate any suggestions! Thanks! Example: z <- sqldf ("select ST, SUM(AGEP*PWGTP)*1.000000000/SUM(PWGTP)*1.00000000000000 as wgtage from ss09

round function seems to produce maximum 2 decimals
I am trying to use round()to force R to display a specific number of decimals, but it seems to display <=2 decimals no matter what I specify in the digits argument. As an alternative I tried signif(), but it also produces unexpected results. See example code and results below. Format() works, but then the result no longer is numeric. Am I missing something simple? I am using R 2.9.0 on Windows

Question about converting from square roots to decimals and back
Hi, I apologize if there is a simple answer to this question that I've missed. I did search the mailing list but I might not have used the right keywords. Why does sum(A3^2) give the result of 1, but sum(A3^2)==1 give the result of FALSE? > A3<-matrix(nrow=3,c(1/(2^.5),1/(2^.5),0)) > A3 [,1] [1,] 0.7071068 [2,] 0.7071068 [3,] 0.0000000 > sum(A3^2) [1] 1 >

bug when subtracting decimals?
Try this: 0.7-0.3==0.4 (We get FALSE) 0.7-0.3<0.4 (We get TRUE) but 0.8-0.3==0.5 (TRUE) 0.8-0.3<0.5 (FALSE) Funny, he? There is a way around: round(0.7-0.3,1)==0.4 (TRUE) Obviously there is a problem with some combinations of decimal subtractions, that - we have the feeling - shouldt be solved. How to menage decimals in order to obtain accurate estimates
Hi, I'm trying to calculate some functions loop, unfortunately my data are decimal numbers that not allow me to get an accurate estimate. I do not want to use neither "round "nor "signif" but I would prefer to have all the information available, (the function loop is generic so you should adapt to all data, not just those in particular). The approximation error is

Change DB data type and limited decimals
Rails3.1.3 I have db type, startp:integer I need to change it to float. More specifically, 1.2, 45.1, 143.8 ... I have two questions: 1. Is removing and adding the field through migration the only way? in other words, is there a single command to change the type? 2. Is there anyway to limit the decimal place to only one? 56.3, 34.2... are acceptable, but 23.112, 77.34, ... are

number of decimal
Hi everybody, I'm trying to set the number of decimals (i.e. the number of digits after the "."). I looked into options but I can only set the total number of digits, with options(digits=6). But since I have different variables with different order of magnitude, I would like that they're all displayed with the same number of decimals. I searched for it and found the format()

read.csv and Decimal places
Hi, Novice UsR here. I have a csv file that contains 13 columns of numeric data that have decimal places (for the most part). After reading in the file RevFCast = read.csv("RevAnalysisNov2016_April2018.csv", header=TRUE, dec = ".", stringsAsFactors=FALSE) and viewing the data View(RevFCast) Some of the fields came in with the correct decimals and some not? Compiling PL/R against R.dll in Win32/MinGW
Hello list, I've been trying to get the PostgreSQL PL/R library to compile on windows (http://www.joeconway.com/plr/). The author of this library says the problem is likely because the distributed R.dll isn't compiled as a shared dll. Is this the case? If so, is there any way to compile it such that it is shared? If that's not the case, than maybe someone on this list has a better
