maximizing available memory under windows XP
I have always been using ebitbin to set the 3GB switch in the windows binary, but version 2.2.1 has this set as default (which I verified using dumpbin). However, when I generate junk data to fill up my memory and read the memory usage using gc(), it seems that I am not getting as good results with 2.2.1 patched as I was with 2.2.0 after I edited the header. Under R 2.2.0 I was able to use over

Channel bleedover?
Occassionally on calls we get what sounds like low volume channel bleedover. Not clear enough to make out words, but not echo of either side of the main coversation. We're using a Digium card with 11 channels connected to PSTN lines. Any ideas on what the problem is or how to go about troubleshooting? Thanks! Paul

occassionally : no domain controller available
I'm using samba 2.2.3a as fileserver and domaincontroller for 12 NT4-clients (sp6a) and occassionally - when a user tries to logon - there comes the following messages on the nt-client: - No Windows NT Domain Controller is available for domain XXXX. There are currently no logonservers available to service the logonrequest. - and - server-side profile not available. The OS tries to log you on

dovecot-uidlist locking
Hi all, I've a dovecot server setup and occassionally clients cannot get mails from their inbox. When I inspect the maildir for that user, there is stale dovecot-uidlist.lock file, and imap process keeps waiting for release of the lock. Is there any other method to perform locking on dovecot-uidlist instead of using dotlock mechanism? It is creating maintenance problems if I need to remove

Optimizing linux for the routing of realtime video
I''m currently trying to optimize a linux machine which acts as a Layer 3 router of RTP H.263 video. Occassionally I''ll get delays related to layer 2 wireless retries, thus rendering the video on the recieving end stale/useless. Is there way to optimize a linux machine to route realtime video? In my case, losing a few frames of H.263 is better than having the video delayed

Losing CDR(accountcode)
Hi, I`m occassionally seeing CDR(accountcode)'s value empty at a place in my diaplan where it was filled with some value a few lines before, with nothing else having changed it. It`s giving me headaches (as I rely on it for MySQL queries). Anything I can do? Mick -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

VoIP bad voice quality
Hi, We have Asterisk, running on a P4 box running Suse 9.1, making calls using IAX through SimpleTelecom and Nufone. What we are looking for is toll quality voice. The problem is that voice over calls routed through SimpleTelecom and nNufone occassionally breaks. We also have a digium card and the calls over the digium card using the Zaptel Interface have a very good quality. We

Polling Asterisk for Life
Hi, Occassionally Asterisk will go down and I have to restart it.. not often.. but sometimes. When it does the manager interface stops working, as does the CLI. My thoughts was to poll the manager interface once every 5 minutes for a value. If I don't get the value back then alert me that the server is possibly down. Does anyone know what a good value to poll for might be? I was thinking

TE405P PRI B-channel resets
I understand from the archives that * does this occassionally, but I'm trying to figure out why. * didn't do this at all for two days, and then it's gone and done it 3 times in the past hour. It does not seem to be affecting calls, I'm just curious as to the reasoning behind the B channel resets and why they are so erratic. Regards, Andrew

Intermittent SIP 404 Not Found response?
I have several SIP devices (Sipuras) that are working fine with *, except for one annoying little problem. Occassionally, after being registered for some period of time, the Sipura returns a 404 Not Found to (I assume) an INVITE request. Of course, this makes the extension appear busy. When this happens, I check the Sipura and it is thinks it is still registered and I check * and it shows

Sometimes calls are silent
I'm setting up an asterisk server, used as a gateway to regular phone lines. I've got a TDM400P card with FXO modules, but I'm only using one to test. When I make outgoing calls, occassionally it seems like the incoming audio is switched off. It will work fine for several calls, and then for several more calls the incoming audio will be silent. The other party can still hear

Analogue phone w/ TDM400
Hi, I'm running * 1.2.7.1 on Red Hay 9.0 w/ a TDM 400 2 x FXS, 1 x FXO. I'm using a VTech cordless that makes three short beeps when someone another extension is picked up, presumably this lets you know if someone is trying to listen in.. Everything works, except the VTech now makes the three beeps everytime you try to use it, even if another extension is in use. It seems as though the

Job Logs errorrs
We are running SAP on a HPUX 11 DB server, with 6 x NT Apps servers Occassionally we get a number of failures on batch jobs - across any number of servers, sometimes with the job terminating immediately on start up, or other times after several hours of processing. The jobs terminate but we are unable to view the job logs, and the error messages we are getting from samba logs are in the format:

bug in arima? (PR#9404)
I don't think arima works exactly the way one would expect when there is differencing. What I think should happen is that by default the mean of the differenced series is estimated and if include.mean=F, then it is not. This is not what happens. Instead when there is differencing the include.mean argument is ignored. Now I guess, someone could argue that the mean of the original series
