confidence interval for the logit - predict.glm
Hello all, I've come across an online posting http://www.biostat.wustl.edu/archives/html/s-news/2001-10/msg00119.html that described how to get confidence intervals for predicted values from predict.glm. These instructions were meant for S-Plus. Yet, it generally seems to work with R too, but I am encountering some problems. I am explaining my procedure in the following and would be most

Callback Problem: Why to use self.var= instead of @var=
Hi, I''ve defined the following model: class Eintrag < ActiveRecord::Base before_validation :vali protected def vali # self.feld1.reverse! self.feld2 = self.feld1 end end Now I''m wondering why I have to write self.feld2=self.feld1 and why @feld2=@feld1 doesn''t work. I''ve found the thread

ID mapping with SFU not setting shell
Hi, I'm trying to use SFU to set user IDs, shells, etc. but I can't work out the right magic - it always seems to use default template shell and home directory (but the UID seems correct) The global section of my smb4.conf looks like so: # Global parameters [global] log level = all:2 netbios name = GATEWAY2 realm = BEGER.COM.AU server role = active

Log spam "Failed to bind to uuid ..."
Hi, I recently replaced an ageing server running Samba 4.5.10 with one running Samba 4.11.8. They both run FreeBSD / ZFS. The site is setup as an AD (I wrote https://wiki.freebsd.org/Samba4ZFS while doing it). My original plan was to join the new server to the domain, shut down the old one and rename it but renamedc complained the old name was still present so I just keep the name (gateway2).

R 2.0.0: namespaces, S4 classes & versioned package installation: failure to resolve correct pkg version
Hi, further down from the problem I asked about yesterday I encounter the following problem (please appologize for the lengthy mail - I have not found a brief example making the issue clear): - using R packages making use of namespaces & - S4 classes when using --with-package-versions in the install call: Pkgs install ok and the first pkg 'base' can be loaded in R

R Error/Warning Messages with library(MASS) using glm.
Hi there, I have been having trouble running negative binomial regression (glm.nb) using library MASS in R v2.15.0 on Mac OSX. I am running multiple models on the variables influencing the group size of damselfish in coral reefs (count data). For total group size and two of my species, glm.nb is working great to deal with overdispersion in my count data. For two of my species, I am getting a

ipred bagging segfault on 64 bit linux build
I wanted to report this issue here so others may not find themselves alone and as the author is apparently active on the list. I havent done an exhaustive test by any means, cause I dont have time. But here's a small example. Apparently the "ns" argument is the one that is killing it. I've gotten several different segfault messages, the only other one I remember said "out

G729 copy protection
Hi All, I have been trying to get the Solaris version of the G729 codec to work with asterisk 1.2.17 and 1.2.22. However, I come up against the very same error every time I try to install it. Has anyone out there seen this error, taken from the asterisk console straight from startup: [codec_g729a.so] => (Annex A/B (floating point) G.729 Codec (optimized for i386)) Jul 19 14:11:23
