F values for glm with binomial distribution
Hi Rneters,
I'm running a GLM model with a full factorial design in blocks and binomial
error distribution. I would like to have the F values for this model but I
got a message that "using F test with a binomial family is inappropriate in:
anova.glm(model, test = "F")". Should I not report F statistics on this kind
of analysis? I would appreciate any comment on this.

GLM with binomial distribution: a bug?
I?m trying to run a factorial model with binomial error distribution on R
program but I had some problems. I'm quite sure it is a bug and would like to
know if it was alread corrected. The output don?t gives me the effects of
factors, it mix the names of factors with the names of factor?s levels. For
instances: specieserythroxylum ('species? is the name of the factor

Structural equation models with R
Hello useRs,
I`m running structural equation models with R, but for one of my models the
below error message apears. I`m trying to change startvalues but without
success. The manual for sem package did not help me. Does anyone knows how to
change startvalues for iteration in sem package? Or it can be another problem
with the model?
Error in startvalues(S, ram, debug = debug, tol = start.tol)

POSIXct bug for conversion of specific combinations of date and time
Hello everyone,
I'm having a big trouble with which seems to be a bug in as.POSIXct()
date-time conversion. I have massive GPS datasets in which each location
has it's own date and time attribute. As I convert them to POSIXct format,
1300 cases (of about half a million locations) simply return NA values.
I picked up a small sample of failed cases and normal cases to demonstrate

Analysis and graphics by groups
Hello,
This is my first post in this e-mail list and I hope it's enough to justify
calling for help. In case it's not, sorry.
I'm trying to do analysis and graphics using a factor as a criteria to split
data and do the analysis/graphics for each subset of data.
Right now what I'm trying to do is to fit and plot the following logistic
model, according to a third variable named

naive "collinear" weighted linear regression
Hi there
Sorry for what may be a naive or dumb question.
I have the following data:
> x <- c(1,2,3,4) # predictor vector
> y <- c(2,4,6,8) # response vector. Notice that it is an exact,
perfect straight line through the origin and slope equal to 2
> error <- c(0.3,0.3,0.3,0.3) # I have (equal) ``errors'', for
instance, in the measured responses
Of course the

data in form of a date
Dear all,
I often use dates and times in analyses. I just can't figure out how to
format my date or time column in R. So, apparently R sees the date as
something other than date (character). Let's say I am opening a CSV
file, one of the columns of which is a date or time. How do I specify
that when opening the file?
Thanks for the help,
Jim

I have some confusion with the use of if - else. Let's say I have a

SEM with dichotomous indicators
Hello,
I'd like to know if there is a way to fit a Structural equation model with
dichotomous indicators (ex: problem with a phone solved/ or not) having
effects on a ordinal variable.
How I do that using R?
Do you have an example with the code in R that you can send to me?
Thanks a lot!

big data file versus ram memory
Hi there
I am new to R and would like to ask some questions which might not make
perfect sense. Anyhow, here they are:
1) I would like very much to use R for processing some big data files
(around 1.7 or more GB) for spatial analysis, wavelets, and power
spectra estimation; is this possible with R? Within IDL, such a big data
set seems to be tractable...
2) I have heard/read that R

generic question ==>> mapping Longhurst biogeochemical ocean provinces in R
*Hello all
**
I am a newbie to R plotting maps. I am trying to plot over a world map a
layer of Biogeochemical provinces (BGCP) by A.R. Longhurst. Each ocean
region unfortunately are quite irregular in shape (not perfect squares). In
GIS this layer of ocean provinces would be a layer of polygons, which I am
assuming it cannot be plotted with R.
I was wondering If anybody has encounter this

parameter yaxs / function hist (graphics)
Dear R users,
The parameters xaxs and yaxs (function par, package graphics)
seem not to work with the function hist (package graphics),
even when the parameters xlim and ylim are defined.
Is there any way to make yaxs="i" and xaxs="i" work properly
with the function hist, mainly to produce histograms that
"touch" the horizontal axis? The R documentation and the

metafor/ meta-regression
Hi I have tryed to do the meta-regression in metafor package, but I
would like to get the standardized coefficients for each variable, however in
command:
Ø res<-rma.uni (yi, vi,
method="REML", mods=~cota+DL+uso+gadiente+idade, data= turbidez)
I just have the coefficients no standardized (estimate) of the multiple
regression.
What I need to do?
Thanks

Mixed model question
Hi,
I am new to this list as a poster, but a reader for some time.
I've using R for several weeks now, and I have a lot of questions about
certain procedures. Here I go:
I want to test if there are differences in the time spent by pollinators
visiting flowers of a given plant species, according to a number of
experimental manipulations made on those flowers. All experimental
