skipping rows in trellis key
Hi,
I would like to add a key to my trellis plot using draw.key. Here is what I
want:
3 x 6 key where the first row is a header.
row 1: empty, "S-R Mapping", "R^2"
row 2: pch=17, "Color", 0.951
row 2: pch=17, "Shape", 0.934
ect...
The problem is that I would like the cell in the upper left corner to be
empty (a placeholder) with the remaining

key position in trellis plotting area
Hi,
I want to do the following:
1) create a trellis plot with 1 x 1 layout
2) add a key in the upper right hand corner of the plotting region (i.e.,
the panel), but after the initial call to trellis
3) resize the resulting device graphics device without changing the relative
position of the key
For instance, the code below draws the key relative to the device
window--not the plotting area.

xyplot (lattice), strip.default
Dear r-help,
I've got data of the following structure
1979 93.428747 0
1979 87.298608 20
1979 78.506340 40
...
1979 45.567890 340
1980 60.815289 0
1980 49.630904 20
1980 24.981362 40
...
The first column is year and the last one is the longitude.
I need a set of graphs showing the dependence of the middle value on
the longitude, for each year, situated one blow the other.

specify lattice black-and-white theme
Is there a simple way to specify a theme or trellis (lattice) parameters so
that, in a multipanel (conditioned) plot, there is no color and in the
strips there is no shading? This is the effect achieved on page 124 of
Deepayan Sarkar's "Lattice" (figure 7.2).
I managed to trick lattice into making a grayscale plot on my interactive
display as follows:

lattice : using both strip and strip.left
Dear all,
I'm routinely using lattice and ggplot2, I wish to create a lattice
theme that looks not too dissimilar to ggplot's defaults so I can
include both graphs in a document with a consistent look.
To illustrate my questions, consider the following example:
> library(ggplot2)
> library(lattice)
>
> # example data
> x <- seq(0, 10, len = 100)
> y1 <-

trellis.focus with postscript device
Hello.
First: R 2.3.1 on Windows XP.
I am trying to add information (sample size) to the Trellis strips which
I am successful using the trellis.focus function with the default
Windows device. However, I typically use the postscript device as I use
LaTeX and \includegraphic for incorporating graphs into stat reviews.
Here's some example code (apologies for the lack of creativity and

organising the display in Trellis plots
Hallo,
I would like to organise at my pleasure the layout of a trellis plot.
Currently I have a 3x3 matrix display and 7 plots. Is it possible to
choose which specific panels will stay empty?
I tried index.perm to arrange the order. Then there is perm.cond which I
could not understand if it can serve for my purpose since I cant really
find which kind of data it accepts.
Thank you for the help.

y-axis of lattice panels not printing to paper
Greetings,
I am printing lattice plots from the R-interface to a printer, and although the y-axes of the left-most panels are visable on the screen, they are not present on the paper when there are multiple panels (ie, >1).
For example:
trellis.device(bg='white')
histogram(~dbh, data=diameter.df)
###print to a printer from the R-interface by clicking the print button on the

change axis format for different panels in xyplot in lattice
Dear R users,
My apologies for a simple question for which I suspect there
is a simple answer that I have yet to find. I'd like to plot
panels in lattice with different graphical parameters for the
axes. For example, the code
x<-rnorm(100)
y<-rnorm(100)
z<-c(rep(1,50), rep(2,50))
library(lattice)
xyplot(y~x|z)
plots two panels with the default black axes. Running the

Trellis Plot Labels
Hello everyone,
I am ploting a groupeddata object with formula:
formula(mydatausegroup)
BF ~ HO | ID/Infar/Day
Using this command:
plot(na.omit(mydatausegroup), displayLevel=2,layout=c(10,2),aspect=2)
This trellis plot does almost what I want and produces a 10x2 trellis plot, each panel is labeled
as ID/Infar where infarct is either 1 or 0. And in each panel, it plots BF vs HO for each Day.

panel.abline() and trellis.focus() on multipage plots
Hi,
I'm recently working on a multipage bwplot() using the lattice package. In
this context I was trying to use the panel.abline() function individually on
certain panels but not all. After some research I found the trellis.focus()
and trellis.unfocus() functions which enabled me to do something like:
trellis.focus("panel", 1, 3)
do.call("panel.abline", list

Changing strip widths in lattice plots
Hello R users,
I'm using xyplot (lattice) to plot some data. Unfortunately, the text that goes
into each strip is often too big to fit. For instance, one of the factors may
be labelled "Satisfaction with waiting time" which is too wide to fit. If I use
split.string() to wrap it onto two lines it is then too high to fit in the
strip. I'd prefer to apply split.string on the

How to write a new "top-level" Trellis/lattice function?
Hello,
I am trying to write a new "top level" Trellis/lattice function.
By "top-level", I mean a function like 'xyplot', 'histogram',
'bwplot', etc.
These functions all call 'trellis.skeleton', which I am unable to
call;
an attempt to invoke the function that does so yields the error

Lattice plot questions
Win2k, R1.7.1:
I am currently working with some growth curve data from a
biotoxicology experiment. Each of 12 subjects had their blood
drawn at 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks. For the purposes of the
project, it would be helpful if I were able to do the following:
a. Produce 12 panels, each displaying the *same* data, with
the "strip" at the top of a particular panel showing

positioning of separate y-axis labels in xyplot
I like the functionality provided by outer=TRUE, but when it comes time
to place separate xlabs or ylabs, I always end up 'eyeballing' it on a
case-by-case basis. For example,
##begin example
require(lattice)
cars.lo <- loess(dist ~ speed, cars)
print(xyplot(cars.lo$residuals+cars.lo$fitted~cars.lo$x,
strip=FALSE,
outer=TRUE,

Controlling text and strip arrangement in xyplot
I've searched the archives and read the xyplot help but can't figure
out the 2 lattice questions below?
Consider:

DF <- data.frame(x=rnorm(20), y=rnorm(20), g1=rep(letters[1:2], 10),
g2=rep(LETTERS[1:2], each=10),
g3=rep(rep(letters[3:4],each=5),2))
xyplot(y ~ x | g1 + g2, groups=g3, data=DF)

FW: Aligning different trellis plots
All --
I am trying to combine trellis plots and having a couple of small problems.
I'm trying to combine two trellis plots that display data of different
kinds. Each has a single row of plots, and I'd like to display them over
one another. So I use
print(plot1, split = c(1,1,2,1), more = TRUE)
print(plot2, split = c(1,2,1,2))
I end up with two minor issues. First, I'd like to
