Where are the ticks on grid.xaxis?
Hi R list, I like the default ticks that are set up using grid.xaxis() or grid.yaxis() with no arguments. Finding good values for the 'at' argument is usually not a trivial task; the default behavior of these functions seems to work well. The problem with this strategy is that I cannot figure out how to "recover" the positions of these ticks when you do NOT specify the

Not to draw the xaxis ticks in ggplot2
>library(ggplot2) >(p<- qplot(mpg, wt, data=mtcars)) What I am doing is to set color of the ticks to hide them. >grid.gedit(gPath("xaxis", "ticks"), gp=gpar(col="white")) It should be a better way to achieve the purpose. Thanks.

log scale y axis ticks control?
Hello R Users! I'm using lattice to produce some graphs with logaritmic y-scales. I use the command xyplot(hits ~ c(1:1024), data=eichData, type="S", scales=list(y = list(log=10))) to create the plot. This is fine, except for the automatically choosen tick marks. I'd like to have a major tick at the 10^n location and minor ticks in between which correspond with the native

log scale y axis ticks control on boxplots
Hey R Users I like to control the ticks and labels in a boxplot as described for a xyplot below (thread in maillinglist in may 2003). Does anybody knows how it works? Customize axis labels in xyplot
Hello, I'm plotting an xyplot where a continuous var recorded every min is plotted on y, and time expressed as HH:MM:SS on x, as follows : xaxis=list(tick.number=12,rot=90) lst=list(x=xaxis) xyplot(upt$LOAD_1 ~ upt$TIME, data=upt, type=c('g','p', 'r'), scales=lst) On the x-axis, every time label is drawn and the label quickly become unreadable as they overlap on each

changing the magnification of axis annotation
Hi all, how do I change the magnification of xaxis annotation? I need a smaller axis text size in some of my plots. I tried cex.axix=0.5 in plot(), but this doesn't work. Help on direction of axis in R needed
Hi! I'd like to plot things with axes going from the highest to the lowest value, so that e.g. high values on the xaxis are plotted to the left and low values to the right. Could anyone tell me how this is done? I couldn't find anything in the documentation. Thanks a lot! Silli

lattice contourplot background covers inward-facing ticks
I wish to have inward-pointing ticks on my contourplot graph, but the colored background produced by the "region=TRUE" statement covers the ticks up, is there any way around this? Sample code below. --Seth library(lattice) model <- function(a,b,c,d,e, f, X1,X2) # provide model function for contour plot {J <- a + (b*X1) + (c*X2) + (d*X1*X2) + e*(X1^2) + f*(X2^2) pp

Can levelplot colorkeys display a logarithmic scale evenly?
I'm using the {lattice} "levelplot" function to make a (more or less) 2-d histogram, and for the most part it's working fine with my data. However, I can't get the color key to do what I need. I can give it labels and custom cutoffs, but my cutoff lines (and hence my labels) aren't evenly spaced, instead they're more-or-less logarithmic, starting at

childNames for xaxis grob (grid package)

adjusting grid on Xaxis ticks
Hello, I have been trying to plot correctly a graph for 2 month now, with no success.I want to put a grid, adjusted on the X axis tickers. Here is the way I build my X-Axis and my grid: grid(11, NULL, col="grey40") axis(2) # build the tickers on the beginning of each monthticks.at <- seq(ISOdatetime(lastYear, 01, 01, hour=0, min=0, sec=0, tz="GMT"),

Changing x-axis when dealing with time
Hi, I am plotting data in which the x values are a timestamp. I am trying to change the x-ticks so they will be in specified hours of the day, but it always start from hour 4 of the day. And I need it to start from the beginning of the axis (at x=0) and then each tick be on the interval I specify. Here is my plotting script: *##-- ROOF COMPARISON - SOUTH-- win.graph()

how to turn axis labels for trellis/dotplot
hi, it occurs quite naturally that groupnames have so many characters that they overlap as horizontally printed labels for the xaxis in a dotplot. is it possible to turn ('par(las=1)') the (x)axis-labels in a dotplot? in general, is it possible to add new customization themes to trellis.get()? any solution is very welcome! tomy -- no signature

switching only axis off in plot
Hi R, In the following code my x-axis is formatted in month format. Which Im happy with. The y-axis is what I want to re-format with something else. My question is, is it possible just to switch off the xaxis in plot function (see below). If not how do you get the months to show up as FEB-YYYY, MAR-YYYY and so on, so I could fit a label on x-axis. Thanks, Sachin p.s. sorry about corporate

grid lines aligned on each ticks with a log scale
Hi all, for publication purpose I must provide a graph with grid lines aligned with each tick mark. Thing is that the graph has a log scale on the x-axis. I looked at the grid() and par() documentation but still don't figure out how to get it done. simple example plot(seq(1,9), log="x", panel.first=grid()) how to get lines at x = 2 and 5 on the graph? Of course the option
