R-2.0.1 Gentoo g77 problem
Hello, I use Gentoo and I can't get R 2.0.1 to compile. I used the portage system, Gentoo's source package sytem, and after it uncompresses the source to R, it says that I don't have a fortran compiler. It told me to use f77 flag and re-emerge gcc, which I did with the f77 and fortran flags, but it still won't compile. Does anyone have any ideas? I suspect that gcc has changed

R on Mandriva 2006
Hello anyone, I'm trying to install R on Mandriva 2006 distribution via rpm file with the line urpmi R-2.0.0-1mdk.i586.rpm but I got an error message saying that the file is not accessible due to some info problem. I also tried with a source code in R-2.1.1.tar but I think that there is some problem concerning the new version of gcc (4.x), so I downgraded it to gcc 3.4.5 but it does

R is a virus, spyware or malware (gasp!)
After a search session in Google, I found this page: http://www.prevx.com/filenames/X1993788672854780728-0/RGUI.EXE.html which classifies Rgui.exe (clearly stated as "R for Windows GUI front-end") in a database of virus, spyware and malware! No comments! Philippe Grosjean

JASP vs R
Colleagues, Many of my colleagues come to me for a recommendation for statistical software. Since I am an R user, that's my typical answer. Some colleagues of mine refuse to use it because of its steep learning curve and lack of a GUI. They wanted a statistical software that's free and that had a GUI. I recently learned about JASP. See https://jasp-stats.org/ for more details This may be

Visual stimulus presentation using R?
Dear all! Although the Psycho-Toolbox for Matlab is free software, Matlab isn't. I'm planning to do an experiment where it's essentail to travel to the subjects, not let the subjects come to where the Matlab licences are :-( So I need to use a free software for my experiment if I don't want to by an extra Matlab licence (which I don't want to). Did anyone ever try to do

possible bug R CMD check: No space(s) allowed after \VignetteDepends{}
R CMD check gives an error when a vignette entry %\VignetteDepends{} has any extra space at the end. Maybe this is by design, but I found it confusing. Changing the function "vignetteMetaRE" in tools package could solve the problem. I.e. vignetteMetaRE <- function(tag) paste("[[:space:]]*%+[[:space:]]*\\\\Vignette", tag,"\\{([^}]*)\\}", sep = "")

Hi, I'm using Sweave to prepare a descriptive report. Changing default paper size to A4 on CentOS 5 (Kyocera FS1920 printer)
Hello, I have a Kyocera FS1920 network printer, and I run an up-to-date CentOS 5.6 x86_64 workstation. When I try to print with evince or Firefox the default paper size is always set to US Letter whereas the printer use A4. I have searched and other people seem to have the problem, but the only recommendations that I have found boil down to setting the default paper size to A4 in the CUPS

Changing ComputerModern in postscript(...): A first attempt at contributing....
Hi First off, thanks to all the various R developers, your package is very impressive. I'm not sure what the protocols are for contributing, and I've not done this before, so please excuse nay obvious errors or oversights... Also I'm by no means an R,TeX/LaTeX, or typesetting expert, I have largely stumbled my way to this point. Objective: I'd like to get R postscript(...) to

sweave: graphics not at the expected location in the pdf
Hi I use sweave for excellent pdf output (thank you- Friedrich Leisch). I have just one problem. Quite often it happens, that the graphics are not at the place where I expect them, but (often on a separate page) later on in the pdf. How can I fix this, means how can I define, that I want a graphic exactly here and now in the document? Many thanks and best regards Christoph -- Christoph

[PATCH 00/12] TV-out modesetting kernel patches.
This patch series adds TV-out modesetting support to the KMS implementation. I've tried to test it on all the hardware I've got at hand (that is nv11, nv17, nv34, nv35, nv40, nv4b) with every possible output combination; I believe it has reached a mergeable state, however it depends on some commits from drm-next that haven't got into Linus' tree yet, if you agree to merge this

Sweave - problems with underscores in variable names...
Hi all, I've just started using the Friedrich Leisch's Sweave package to generate LaTeX reports with results of my analyses embedded as required. I've encountered a bit of a problem though in the processing of the resulting *.tex file that is as far as I can tell, down to the fact that my variable names have underscores ('_') in their names.
