confidence interval or error of x intercept of a linear regression
Hello all, This is something that I am sure has a really suave solution in R, but I can't quite figure out the best (or even a basic) way to do it. I have a simple linear regression that is fit with lm for which I would like to estimate the x intercept with some measure of error around it (confidence interval). In biology, there is the concept of a developmental zero - a temperature under

Standard error for the area under a smoothed ROC curve?
Hello, I am making some use of ROC curve analysis. I find much help on the mailing list, and I have used the Area Under the Curve (AUC) functions from the ROC function in the bioconductor project... http://www.bioconductor.org/repository/release1.5/package/Source/ ROC_1.0.13.tar.gz However, I read here... http://www.medcalc.be/manual/mpage06-13b.php "The 95% confidence interval for

Help with reshape/reshape2 needed
This does not use reshape/reshape2, but it is pretty straightforward. Assuming X is your example data: > Y <- split(X[, 2], X[, 1]) > vals <- sapply(Y, length) > pad <- max(vals) - vals > Y2 <- lapply(seq_along(Y), function(x) c(Y[[x]], rep(NA, pad[x]))) > names(Y2) <- names(Y) > X2 <- do.call(cbind, Y2) > X2[, 1:6] 1957 1958 1959

Help with reshape/reshape2 needed
The reason it doesn't work easily with reshape/reshape2 is that the order of the rows is not determined. Your answer could be 1957 1958 ... 1985 1986 0.8625000 0.7500000 ... 0.7307692 0.23750000 0.0733945 0.6435644 ... NA 0.05769231 0.5096154 NA ... NA 0.65137615 or 1957 1958 ... 1985 1986 0.0733945 0.6435644 ... NA

Help with reshape/reshape2 needed
Hi all: I'm struggling with getting my data re-formatted using functions in reshape/reshape2 to get from: 1957 0.862500000 1958 0.750000000 1959 0.300000000 1960 0.287500000 1963 0.675000000 1964 0.937500000 1965 0.025000000 1966 0.387500000 1969 0.087500000 1970 0.275000000 1973 0.500000000 1974 0.362500000 1976 0.925000000 1978 0.712500000 1979 0.337500000 1980 0.700000000 1981 0.425000000

Problems with Boxplot
Hello, I have been having difficulty getting boxplot to give the output I want - probably a result of the way I have been handling the data. The data is arranged in columns: each date has two sets of data. The number of data points varies with the date, so each column is of different length. I want to get a series of boxplots with the date along the x-axis, with alternating colors, so that it
