[OT] Where do you find good designers for your RoR projects?
Hi, Nowadays, the design of an application is nearly as important as its functionality. But - most good programmers are not automatically skilled designers. Especially when it comes to the creation of fancy icons or small illustrations. So, where do you find good and affordable designers and illustrators for your commercial (rails) projects ? Programming with designers in mind
Gents, We''re hard at work on a new Rails app. We''re a small group of developers...not a web designer in the bunch. We know CSS enough to be dangerous, but we shy away from the "softer" skills (all the while envious of those with that capability). We intend to grow our application in terms of functionality, but I need to make sure we keep an eye towards

Are there any graphic designers on this list?
Hi I had asked for some help with the Asterisk Assistants http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+Assistants+for+MacOSX and many have offered assistance with translations which I am grateful for and like to say thank you again. However, there hasn't been a single response from a graphic designer to offer help with a custom icon. Are there any graphic designers on this list at

ggplot2 ------------------------------------------------------------ ggplot2 is a plotting system for R, based on the grammar of graphics, which tries to take the good parts of base and lattice graphics and avoid bad parts. It takes care of many of the fiddly details that make plotting a hassle (like drawing legends) as well as providing a powerful model of graphics that makes it easy to produce

Good RoR design example.
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could point me to a good (ideally simple) example of RoR design. I am rather new to this subject, and I am playing with https://rubyforge.org/projects/mystic/ as an simple example to understand how stuff works, but I am not entirely convinced that it has been properly written in terms of locating html code, javascript code, etc. (e.g. There is a fragment of html

Codifying our Brace rules-
Personally, I favor "always use braces" because it helps readability for me. The compiler may be good at flagging misleading indentation, but my visual processing system is terrible at it, especially since we use a measly two spaces for indentation. And we grant indentation exceptions for--among other things--case labels in switches. When some nested statements have braces and others

Designers?
I have a slew of rails and non-rails projects coming up. Some are small brochure type mini-sites for national clients, others are some web apps I''m working on more for fun. I''m a working developer with a day job, but I''m trying to get my freelance business going on the side. I''m in the NYC area and happen to have a lot of friends in the advertising industry

support for arbitrary comparisons
Mike Williams contributed a patch to support arbitrary comparisons. This is now in the trunk and will be part of the next release. So you will now be able to do this: result.should_be < 5 result.should_be >= 7 It also supports alternate syntax for should_be, should_match result.should == 3 result.should =~ /regex/ Personally, I prefer should_be and should_match in these cases, as I think

A collapse/expand tree list?
Does anyone have a working example of a simple collapse/expand tree list they can share? What I want to replicate is the standard open/ close node behavior, but I''m not sure how to make the parent node open and close correctly. Something like this: <ul> <li>Click me to open and close the sub list <ul> <li>One</li>
