I have been looking at the LoginGenerator gem. Looks great and can be easily modified. However in my app I have two places where people can login, one is for in my case "employees" the other is for "users". They are seperate tables in my database and have many different fields. I have an admin area located at ./sysadmin/ where only "employees" can login, they

Subdomains - redirect to different actions?
Hey, I''m trying to figure out what the most elegant way to do this - I''ve only got a small amount of different subdomains corresponding to categories - and I''ve been using fragment caching. In particular, I was wondering what the best way to call these actions is - I''m thinking redirect and render_component aren''t really very nice

Help... Ajax scaffold problems
Hi all, Any help is appreciated. I used the ajax scaffold generator to make 3 scaffoldings. Then I put them together as components in a combined layout and created a master controller, which happens to be named "dataentry''. That works fine. Within each of the components, I was able to set up links that paginate and update the div (for the component) with correctly paginated

LoginEngine vs. LoginGenerator?
I just saw a mention here of LoginEngine, which I hadn''t heard of before. Last week when I was digging for user-account sample code for my web-app, I instead found the LoginGenerator and started using that: http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/LoginGenerator Is one of these preferred over the other? From skimming the API docs, it does seem that LoginEngine has more features,

Re: Re stful_authentication, Internet Explorer, and unwanted http basic dialog
I''m glad I found your post Joshua - it saved me quite a bit of time! To get this to work for me however (IE6), I had to ditch the ||= and do straight assignment: request.format = :html if request.env[''HTTP_USER_AGENT''] =~ /msie/i Joshua Doss wrote: > > > Alter access_denied to add this line (right below "def access_denied"): > >

validate unless, LoginGenerator difficulty
I apologize if this is a very simple question; I''ve searched the forums, wiki, Google, and Agile Web Development with Rails to no avail. Is there a way to put conditional validation in the model? For instance, if I want to limit items a user can add unless the user is an admin? My current code is: validates_uniqueness_of :user_id, :scope => ''event_id'',

I''m using Shoulda and restful_authentication on Rails3 and whenever I run my tests a before filter for login_required is always triggered, despite my filter being set up as: before_filter :login_required, :only => [:update, :edit, :suspend, :unsuspend, :destroy, :purge] My test is this: context ''A guest to the site'' do context ''on GET to
