Changing text in a tkentry widget
I searched the web and the list archives for a solution to this, but
didn't see anything, so here goes. I'm new to tcltk. I'm trying to
change the contents of a tkentry widget when a button is pressed. Once I
get that working, the widget will be read only to the user. Here is some
toy code:

require(tcltk)

Building tkentry dynamicly
Dear R-users,
I would like to build N "tkentry" compounds in the same window, with
default text for each. As N is variable I need to construct them in an
iterative way :
library(tcltk)
main<-tktoplevel()
tktitle(main)<-"My Tool"
filenames<-c("toto","tata","titi")
N<-length(filenames)
for (i in 1: N) {

autofill for a tkentry field
Hello all,
I'm experimenting with tlk/tk and I find it very useful. I would like to
have the text of a tkentry be automatically filled when the user starts
typing, according to a predetermined list. I've found a solution on the
tcl wiki pages, but I don't quite know how to translate it in R... Here is
the tcl code: http://wiki.tcl.tk/13267
And here is my code that does not work.

tkentry that exits after RETURN?
I can set up an entry widget (thanks to an old
post by Barry Rowlingson) that gets a password and
exits when the user clicks on the "OK" button.
Anyone have any clever ideas for returning/
destroying the window when the user types a carriage
return/ENTER in the text window? I've messed around
a little with validate, validatecommand, but don't
see any obvious way to do it ...

set tkscale by tkentry
Hi, I am working under Windows and I am using R2.11
I want to use tkscale in my GUI. As the interval is quite big, I can't set
the scale to a certain specific value. Therefore I want to add tkentry to
allow the user to set tkscale to a certain value.
Here is the code
library(tcltk)
tt<-tktoplevel()
tkpack(m1<-tkscale(tt,from=306870.00, to=3026741, label="alpha",

Hi again, trying more tests, I give some more info:
In MEMBER machine, when I run winbind in a terminal window (WINDOW1) not

winbindd -FSi
and call wbinfo -a in another terminal window (WINDOW2), in WINDOW1 I see
two lines with this error:

is.integer() (PR#6984)
Hello!
I'm not sure if is it a BUG or not...
I'm using R 1.9.0, and I used the command below:
> is.integer(9)
[1] FALSE
R manual contains this words about the is.integer() function:
"is.integer returns TRUE or FALSE depending on whether its argument is of
integer type or not."
What's the problem? Am I wrong about the BUG report?
Thank you very much.

Differential Equations
Hello!
I would like to know if R can solve Differential Equations...
I don't think so because, in my point, I see R like a Statistical System, not a
Math System. Am I wrong?
Thank you very much.

BATCH and tcltk
Hi R-hackers
I try to write a batch (in Windows, i have to use!) with
Rcmd BATCH D:\Test.R D:\Test.Rout and
Rterm.exe --no-restore --no-save < D:\Test.R > D:\Test.Rout.
In my file Test.R are any tk-codelines (like: Window1 <- tktoplevel(); ... tkbutton...).
It works not interactifly, what is written in Rcmd BATCH --help.
Exist there a way to do it all the same?
Please help...

stuck tcltk scrollbars under Windows XP
Dear R-devel list members,
I've encountered a problem with my Rcmdr package under Windows XP and could
use some advice:
The Rcmdr package uses the tcltk package to create menus and dialog boxes.
My standard procedure when a dialog is created is to grab the focus -- e.g., by
tkfocus(top)
tkgrab(top)
(Here, top is a top-level window -- say, containing one or more
scrollbars.)

Using tcltk language with R system
Hello, Does anybody know how can i call a R function in a tcltk file? I made
a tcltk file, but I need call functions in R. i.e: in R I can put .Tcl("tcltk

I want to make a R Gui using tcltk language, do you recommend use a tcltk or

Thanks for your attention.
