AS_NUMERIC and as.numeric - Could someone explain?
Dear List, I stepped into a strange effect which I can't explain to myself (probably due to lack of knowledge on R internals). I have four vectors a,b,c and z of size 10000 each. With these vectors I call .Call("hyp2f1forrey", a, b, b, z, PACKAGE = "hyp2f1") to access SEXP hyp2f1forrey(SEXP a, SEXP b, SEXP c, SEXP x) { int i,n; double *xa, *xb, *xc, *xx,

be careful: using attach in R functions
Hi there, I have just found that the ``attach'' function can get you into trouble when called many times. For example, you have a simulation routine called ``f()'', in which you used ``attach'' and no corresponding ``detach''. Then you call this function many times. You will find that the system performance get slower and slower, because you are making the R

A question about GRAMMAR calculations in the FAM_MDR algorithm
Dear R developers: I am a PHD candidate student in the school of public health of Peking University and my major is genetic epidemiology. I am learning the FAM-MDR algorithm, which is used to detect the gene-gene and gene-environment interactions in the data of pedigree. The codes were written by Tom Cattaert of the University of Liege. The algorithms and the sample datasets are available at

Puppet bootstrap: via cdist
Good morning puppets, as stated for reallife, "one always meets more than one time", this is true for puppet and me: Although I''m migrating away from puppet [0] to cdist [1], a customer requests a new puppet installation. This brings me again to the question on how to bootstrap a new puppet infrastructure, which we did with a shell script or a Debian package and then running

[LLVMdev] 64bit MRV problem: { float, float, float} -> { double, float }
Hey Duncan, hey everybody else, I just stumbled upon a problem in the latest llvm-gcc trunk which is related to my previous problem with the 64bit ABI and structs: Given the following code: struct float3 { float x, y, z; }; extern "C" void __attribute__((noinline)) test(float3 a, float3* res) { res->y = a.y; } int main(void) { float3 a; float3 res; test(a,

Incompatible types error
I'm trying to write a loop for a series of nested functions. and I get an incompatible types error when trying to run it. It's supposed to be a simulation (1000 iterations) with a random value for "rand" being chosen each time. After each rand value is chosen, the rest of the functions are evaluated with this given rand value and their "Fitness" sum value is saved and

calculation of U and V matrix of SVD decomposition (according to LINPACK, X = UDV')
Hello, Like QR decomposition, I am looking for decomposition to get U and V matrix of SVD decomposition (according to LINPACK, X = UDV'). Do you know if there is a function which could calculate this decomposition? Look forward to your reply, Haleh

General means of matching a color specification to an official R color name
Hello List Dwellers: I?ve looked around quite a bit, but don?t quite see an answer that I understand. I?m looking for a way to take any kind of color specification (rgb, hsv, hcl, hex) and match it to the n-nearest R official color names. Clearly it is easy to interconvert different specification schemes and color spaces, but matching to the name seems a bit trickier. Seems like if one has a

Doubt regarding priority of classes with HTB
Hi, I''m a bit confused with the priority of different classes with HTB. How it will be? Will the class with lowest no: have maximum priority? Any help is most appreciated, Thanks in advance, Sanjeev -- ______________________________________________ Check out the latest SMS services @ http://www.linuxmail.org This allows you to send and receive SMS through your mailbox. One interface forwarding (wireless ad-hoc mode)?
Hi, I''m wondering if there''s any simple solution. This problem looks very simple, so maybe there''s a simple solution that I''m missing, but I couldn''t do it yet. I''m configuring an wireless ad-hoc network with three laptops; A ---- B ---- C where A and C can only talk to B, and B can talk to both A and C. A and C cannot talk to each

La.svd of a symmetric matrix
Dear R list users, the singluar value decomposition of a symmetric matrix M is UDV^(T), where U = V. La.svd(M) gives as output three elements: the diagonal of D and the two orthogonal matrices u and vt (which is already the transpose of v). I noticed that the transpose of vt is not exactly u. Why is that? thank you for your attention and your help Stefano AVVISO IMPORTANTE: Questo messaggio di

How can i send the same traffic to 2 different interface
Hi! I am making some tests here, and i wanna miror all the traffic going to a ip from one interface to another ip. example: all packets going to 64.223.167.100 should be transmitted by ppp0 to internet and by eth2 to the adress 192.168.1.100. Someone know how can i do it using iptables or ip route/ip rule? Tks in advance! Fernando Favero _______________________________________________ LARTC
