axis placement with stacked barplots and the asp=1 parameter
Hi, I'm currently using barplot to generate vertically stacked bar charts. I'd like to be able to use the "asp=1" parameter with barplot(), but doing this causes the y axis to be placed on the far left as shown in the attachment demo.pdf. I could get around this by using the negative values for the line parameter of the axis() function. I'd rather not do this and imagine

How to plot doubles series with different location using plotCI
Dear list members, I would like to create two series of plotted mean values and error bars, yet with different locations along the x-axis. Plotting of first series using plotCI with the standard arguments goes without any problem. However I do not succeed to add the second series in the same plot, which should be horizontally shifted from the first series along the x-axis. The “add=TRUE”

lm( y ~ A/x ) ... how do I extract the coefficients by factor?
When regressing by month, how do I get the coefficients out into a new data set? I'm looking for [ month, a, b, c ] from the Pastor-Stambaugh model I'm using which is: r[i+1] = a + b * r[i] + c * v[i] + e the model I'm using wants to create a new dataseries based on the coefficient in each month. I'm doing a simple linear regression on DataSet, and >

differing behaviour between xts (0.6-7) and zoo (1.5-8)
Folks, I have some weekly dataseries that I convert to monthly xts (with yearmon indices), and obtain the two following extracts: > str(sig) An 'xts' object from Apr 1998 to Sep 1998 containing: Data: num [1:6, 1] 0.0083 0.2799 -0.2524 -0.0119 0.18 ... - attr(*, "dimnames")=List of 2 ..$ : NULL ..$ : chr "e1" Indexed by objects of class: [yearmon] TZ:

Ext3 problems possibly plauging me
Hello. My box has been running flawlessly for months now, but in the last 2 days hasn't stayed up for more than 5 minutes. All this seemed to have started after I did a very very bad thing...... I ran the EXT2 to EXT3 conversion on my root filesystem. I used the "tune2fs -j /dev/sda1" to do the deed. After it completed the machine ran fine (the machine was up and serving when I

Multiple xyplots
Hi everyone, I'm hoping you can give me some pointers. I have a requirement to draw multiple (103) xy line plots onto one output device. Ideally the plots should be displayed in a hexagonal grid (example at www.maladmin.com/example.jpg). I can calculate the locations for each waveform but am wondering how to create multiple plotting areas. I have come accross references to a package grid

looking for one-liner for strsplit and regex
Hi, I have a line such as: myline <- " 0.100000 1.5000 0.6000 538 0.369404" and I would like to put the numbers into a vector. Some combination of tabs and spaces occur between the numbers. I tried: try1 <- strsplit(myline,"[[:blank:]]+") > try1 [[1]] [1] "" "0.100000" "1.5000"

strsplit (PR#424)
In R.99, when you strsplit with a space (split=" ") as separator and the string contains two consecutive spaces, "" is returned. strsplit(" "," ") returns [[1]] [1] "" "" whereas it used to return character(0) Is this really useful like this?? It certainly messes all my code up. Jim

strsplit(perl=TRUE), gregexpr(perl=TRUE) very slow for long strings
While doing some speed testing I noticed that in R-3.2.3 the perl=TRUE variants of strsplit() and gregexpr() took time proportional to the square of the number of pattern matches in their input strings. E.g., the attached test function times gsub, strsplit, and gregexpr, with perl TRUE (PCRE) and FALSE (TRE), when the input string contains 'n' matches to the given pattern. Notice the
