computation on a table
Hello,
I have a table (1) of the form
q1 q3 q4 q8 q9
A 5 2 0 1 3
B 2 0 2 4 4
I have another table (2):
q1 q2 q3 q4 q5 q6 q7 q8 q9
C 10 7 4 2 6 9 3 1 2
I would like to divide the numbers in table (1) by the number of the
appropriate column in table (2):
q1 q3 q4 q8 q9
A 5/10 2/4 0/2 1/1 3/2
B 2/10 0/4 2/2 4/1 4/2

Games-Howell, Gabriel, Hochberg
Hello,
I read a book about statistics in psychology. The authors use SPSS. They
talk about post hoc tests after ANOVA finds significant effects:
- Gabriel's procedure (for equal or slightly different sample sizes)
- Hochberg's GT2 (for different sample sizes)
- Games-Howell procedure (for populations with unequal variances)
I could not find them in R. Do they not exist in R

[EuroLLVM] Program available! Hacker's Lab topics wanted!
We are happy to announce that the list of accepted sessions is available
online [0].
The hacker's lab will be organized similar to the one at the US 2016
meeting [1]. To this end, we rely on you to send us topics via mail:

We will then look for knowledgeable volunteers and have a selection
process to determine which are most interesting for the

effect sizes for Wilcoxon tests
Hello,
I use t.test for normal distributed and wilcox.test for non-normal
distributed samples.
It is easy to write a function for t.test that calculates the effect
size, because all parts of the formula are available from the t.test
result: r = sqrt(t*t / (t*t + df))
However, for Wilcoxon tests, the formula for effect sizes is:
r = Z / sqrt(N)
I wonder how I can calculate the Z-score in R for

Crop white border for PDF output
Hi,
I produce a series of diagrams with R in order to include them in my
documents (LaTeX). However, there is a white border around the diagrams.
For some that do not have anything written at the very bottom, the white
border is relatively large. The rather big space between figure and
caption at the final document looks not nice.
It would be best not to have any white border. I played with

Hi,
I just came across this annoncement, which is particularly interesting as
it is only 25 min away from my place... :-) Anyway, I guess the core of
this is targeted at developers mainly.
Cheers, Philipp

reduce levels
Hi all:
I have an example that shows my problem:
> test <- data.frame(c("a", "b", "c"))
> colnames(test) <- "mm"
> sub <- subset(test, mm=="b")
> sub$mm
[1] b
Levels: a b c
> levels(sub$mm)

How can I reduce the levels to exclusively those which

Samba freezes server when writing 50MB MS Word document (sometimes)
Hi list
for a couple of days we have the problem that our samba pdc server (ubuntu
8.04
LTS [kernel 2.6.24-24] with 3.0.28a samba package) freezes sometimes when
someone saves a specific word document (about 50MB) from MS Word. It's not
always the same person. Saving the document - as nearly any huge MS Office
document - takes some time, about one minute (guessed).
First the server gets

sort matrix by sum of columns
Hi all,
I would like to know how can I sort the cols of a matrix by the sum of
their elements.
a <- matrix(as.integer(rnorm(25,4,2)),10,5)
colnames(a) = c("alfa","bravo","charlie","delta","echo")
I guess I should use colSums, and then rearrange the matrix somehow
according to the result.
My idea is to display a "sorted" barplot:

ANOVA of a sort
Dear R Help,
I have a general question - I know this is the R list, but I hope
someone can help me out a little as I've always found the help here to
be absolutely fantastic.
I have run a psychological study where participants are given multiple
stimuli and their responses to those stimuli are measured on the same
numerical scale, i.e., the data is something like

Excel (off-topic, sort of)
Except for the ability to perform circular recalculation, I believe that the closest programming analogy to a spreadsheet is a functional programming language. Check out Haskell (or LISP or Erlang) to do what you describe.

[PATCH virtio 0/4] pds_vdpa: mac, reset, and irq updates
v2 for internal review
- heavily reworked NET_F_MAC patch, matches recent PR-68875
- reordered to put "clean and reset vqs" before "alloc-irq"
to make them slightly simpler patches
- other minor cleanups for simpler patches
These are some fixes for device providing a MAC address, for allocating
irq resources later to support vhost use, and for properly cleaning

[PATCH V2 1/5] vDPA/ifcvf: virt queue ops take immediate actions
In this commit, virtqueue operations including:
set_vq_num(), set_vq_address(), set_vq_ready()
and get_vq_ready() access PCI registers directly
to take immediate actions.

[PATCH 0/5] vDPA/ifcvf: implement immediate initialization mechanism
Formerly, ifcvf driver has implemented a lazy-initialization mechanism
for the virtqueues and other config space contents,
it would store all configurations that passed down from the userspace,
then load them to the device config space upon DRIVER_OK.
This can not serve live migration, so this series implement an
immediate initialization mechanism, which means rather than the
former store-load

[PATCH v1 0/2] block: virtio-blk: support multi vq per virtio-blk
Hi,
These patches try to support multi virtual queues(multi-vq) in one
virtio-blk device, and maps each virtual queue(vq) to blk-mq's
hardware queue.
With this approach, both scalability and performance on virtio-blk
device can get improved.
For verifying the improvement, I implements virtio-blk multi-vq over
qemu's dataplane feature, and both handling host notification
from each vq and
