PAN: Need Help for Multiple Imputation Package
Hello all. I am trying to run PAN, multilevel
multiple imputation program, in R to impute missing
data in a longitudinal dataset. I could successfully
run the multiple imputation when I only imputed one
variable. However, when I tried to impute a
time-varying covariate as well as a response variable,
I received an error message, “Error: subscript out of
bounds.” Can anyone tell if my commands

Imputation using Pan in R
Hi,
I've tried to run the multiple imputation for longitudinal data using Pan in
R.
The trimmed data consist 10 individuals across 4 time points.
Following the example in panex.R, I imputated the model with one y variable
and only random intercept.
It worked well.
The next step for me is to imputate a model with one y variable and both
random intercept and slope.
The program ran well, but

R crash when using pan for multiple imputation
Dear R-List,
I apologize for not posting a reproducible example - the reason is that I
actually do not succeed in reproducing my specific problem with
generated data.
Let me still describe the problem:
I want to impute missing data using the "pan" package.
a) It works, when I use a fraction of my data (e.g. 200 out of 44000 cases)
b) It works, when I generate a dataset of equal

longitudinal imputation with PAN
Hello all,
I am working on a longitudinal study of children in the UK and trying the PAN package for imputation of missing data, since it fulfils the critical criteria of taking into account individual subject trend over time as well as population trend over time. In order to validate the procedure I have started by deleting some known values ?we have 6 annual measures of height on 300 children

bubble plots
Dear all,
I'm used to draw bubble plots (gstat) to get a first view of my spatial
marked data, but I can't find a way to label legend with marks after having
replaced them by a numeric scale.
I have a data frame with numeric coords and factors:

Backend implementation for an architecture with only majority operation instruction
Hey Sean,
So the processor does in-memory computing, it reads instructions and
operands from the memory array, performs the majority operations within the
memory array itself.
It does instructions using resistive majority which is AB'+B'C+AC
Like it does AND operation as
1: 0, 1, @C; //C=0
2: 0, 1, @Binv; //Binv=0
3: 1, @B, @Binv; //Binv=B
4: @A, @Binv, @C; //C=A.B
where each operation is

LD50 and SE in GLMM (lmer)
Hi All!
I am desperately needing some help figuring out how to calculate LD50 with a GLMM (probit link) or, more importantly, the standard error of the LD50.
I conducted a cold temperature experiment and am trying to assess after how long 50% of the insects had died (I had 3 different instars (non significant fixed effect) and several different blocks (I did 4 replicates at a time)=

Savitzky-Golay smoothing -- an R implementation
As the request for the Savitzky-Golay Algorithm in R has come up several
times, I here include my implementation based on code written for Matlab.
Savitzky-Golay uses the pseudo-inverse pinv() of a matrix. There is an
'generalized inverse' ginv() in the MASS package, but I use a simpler form
because I didn't want to 'require' MASS any time I apply Savitzky-Golay.

internet proxy settings (win)
I cannot access internet through R.
My IT-guys told me that I should set the proxy and the port and then
everything will be fine. Where can I set them?
I use R 2.6.2 under Windows 2000 and these settings are those of the
Internet Explorer (no password).
I read http://cran.at.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/rw-FAQ.html#The-Internet-download-functions-fail_002e

How to alter circle size
Hello all,
I'm trying to create a heatmap using 2 matrices I have: z and v. Both
matrices represent different correlations for the same independent
variables. The problem I have is that I wish to have the values from matrix
z to be represented by color intensity while having the values from matrix v
to be represented by circle size. I currently have the following in front of

Overimposing one map in ssplot onto another
Hello!
I have 2 maps - both created in ssplot and both identical in terms of
outline. Is there any way to superimpose Map1 (which has black borders
between Canadian provinces) onto Map2 (which is also a map of Canada)?
Thanks a lot for your hints!

incorrect number of subscriptions error in user-written function
I have written a function which returns an "incorrect number of
subscriptions error" and am unable to identify why this should happen.
Any help would be gratefully received.
The problem:
I would like to generate combinations/permutations across different
selections - for example all the combinations of "3 chosen from 6"

colour palettes in biplot
biplot could benefit from allowing colour palettes,
eg. allowing col=list(xcol= xxpal, ycol= yypal) where xxpal and yypal
are palettes.
For an example, see the robust pricipal components in the principal
componetent section of
<http://www.statlab.uni-heidelberg.de/data/olive/olive10.pdf>
The required change is to replace
col[1L] resp. col[2L] by col[1L]] reep. col[[2L]] for example in

validate (package Design): error message "subscript out of bounds"
Dear R users
I use Windows XP, R2.5.1 (I have read the posting guide, I have
contacted the package maintainer first, it is not homework).
In a research project on renal cell carcinoma we want to compute
Harrell's c index, with optimism correction, for a multivariate
Cox regression and also for some univariate Cox models.
For some of these univariate models I have encountered an error

[R] proposal: lattice/levelplot: panel.catlevelplot
I suggest to add a panel function to levelplot (or perhaps
to an other 3d lattice function) which is able to translate
the z values into the size of the rectangles.
It could be used to display categorical data.
I append the proposed code and two examples:
- panel.catlevelplot()
- example1.catlevelplot.esoph()
- example2.catlevelplot.esoph()

quantreg::rq.fit.hogg crashing at random
Dear all,
I am using the "rq.fit.hogg" function from the "quantreg" package. I have
two problems with it.
First (less importantly), it gives an error at its default values with
error message "Error in if (n2 != length(r)) stop("R and r of incompatible
dimension") : argument is of length zero". I solve this by commenting four
lines in the code. I.e. I

do not plot polygon boundaries with spplot {sp}
Hi,
Is there a simple way to suppress the plotting of polygon boundaries with
spplot() ?
# simple list of 12 colors
cols <- brewer.pal(12, "Paired")
# plot pile of polygons, with 12 classes:
spplot(x, zcol='class2', col.regions=cols, scales=list(draw=T), xlab="Easting
(m)", ylab="Northing (m)")
... seems to work well. However the polygon boundaries

tessellation from biological data in spatstat
Hi,
I'm new to this mailing list so apologies if this is too basic. I have
confocal images 512x512 from which I have extracted x,y positions of the
coordiates of labelled cells exported from ImageJ as a.csv file. I also
have images that define an underlying pattern in the tissue defined as
areas of different pixel values 0 or 255 (also 512x512) I've exported
these images as .txt
