I created an account on the Forums this morning, but I got an error saying they were having a problem sending e-mail. I sent a message to the webmaster and no response either. So I can't post to the forum until my account is activated. Are the forums new? By the amount of traffic on the list, this must be where most people resolved their problems. I am thinkgng about installing CentOS 4 on my

www.centos.org and the wildcard dns
hi guys, At the moment there is a www.centos.org site. There is also a wildcard dns setup that directs anything.centos.org to www.centos.org's content This has a couple of 'issues' with SEO and google sepcifically. The reason we have such low page rank is that google marks all of this as duplicate content. I am sure there are other search engines that do as well ( Bing has a

Samba wins eWeek and PC Magazine "Innovation in Infrastructure" (i3) award for best Enterprise Software !
Hi all, I was in Las Vegas yesterday accepting an award from eWeek and PC Magazine on behalf of Samba for the Innovation in Infrastructure Award in the "Enterprise Software" catagory ! The award was sepcifically for Samba 2.2.2, and we beat out Sun Microsystems Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Version 1.4 and Bea Systems WebLogic Server 7.0 for the award, so I'm stunned that we

Vncserver not serving up my gnome desktop, just a fancy terminal!
I have the vncserver running on CentOS 4, but when I log in using vncviewer from another box, I don't see my gnome desktop, just a fancy terminal. I suspect I need to edit the ~/.vnc "xstartup file, but what do I add to fix this. On all other distros I have tried, the vncserver serves up my gnome desktop by default. -- Lee Parmeter Emperor, linXos - The Flying Penguin

panel.abline and xyplot
Dear All, I am wondering on how to use the abline.xyplot with xyplot such that I will have different vertical lines for each panel. More sepcifically, suppose that the xyplot generates 4 panels defined by the combination of two binary variables: X_1 and X_2. i.e. xyplot(Y ~ Z | X_1*X_2, data = df) I want something like: abline(v = 5) if X_1=0 and X_2 = 0 abline(v =

Loading Dataset into R continual issue
Hi, this is related to academic research I am trying to conduct. Please pardon my lack of socialization for this forum. For my project, I had to combine two different datasets, Democracy dataset from Pippa Norris and World Bank Patents dataset. My issue arrises from just loading the file into R. My colleagues proficient in R have been stumped as well. Often times the file would seem to load

changing cex pointwise in lattice
Dear R-users, I have tried, and I imagine it should be somewhere in the lines of passing extra arguments to the panel function, but does anyone know how to change the character expansion factor that is affecting an individual point in each of the panels of a lattice plot? I have tried to pass an overall cex argument containing the desired size for each point, but then the sizes are reused for the

A Head Check
Hello, I have been retained by a Building Management Company to install a combined Voice/Data solution for a Tennated Office Space. This space will rent offices, with telephone and internet service to inviduals or small groups of individuals. As fate would have it, the service will be provided in a building where we have a major Pop, with a DS-3 worth of ISDN PRI circuits, 345 megs of

Fax from Widows
Hey Guys We've been using the respond program with SMB fax services and it's worked pretty good. But I have one need which is not addressed by this software, which I'm hoping maybe I can pay someone to hack into the windows code. I need Respond to send a cover letter prior to being sent out, independent of the program queueing the print job in windows. I was thinking I might be

[LLVMdev] wrong guessed OS platform
Hi, http://llvm.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=clang thinks that I am running on a PC with OS of "all". My user agent string on my browser is: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_5; en-us) AppleWebKit/ 526.11 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0dp1 Safari/526.11.2 Isn't that enough to know that this is Mac OS X running version 10.5.5 ? :-) Thanks, Dan -- Dan

creating a new variable.
Hello, all. The following is for my own research. I have attached the relevant data in pdf from Transparency International. I am only interested in the "CPI 2010 scores" column. I am interested in creating a variable for several of these countries. The idea is, they will become a country level aggregate IV "corruption". I am running models on about 10 countries,

Swiss IP10S using SIP
Has anyone had success getting the Swiss IP10S and the SIP ( IP10 SP v0.0.1 (Build 4)) firmware working with Asterisk? If so do you have copies of what worked in sip.conf and phone configuration files? I can't seem to get the phone to register, it tries but is denied with a Forbidden (which I am guessing is authentication). I tried without a secret, but the phone seems to use swissvoice

origination providers
hi folks, Has anyone found a good (and, ideally, cheap -- we don't really want any per-minute charges) origination provider which can handle a moderate number of simultaneous incoming calls (to the same, single DID)? Many of the providers I've tried contacting either won't call me back, or want me to sign an NDA just to get a rate quote, or some other bullshit. Most of the

GAM model with interactions between continuous variables and factors
Hi all, I am not sure how to handle interactions with categorical predictors in the GAM models. For example what is the different between these bellow two models. Tests are indicating that they are different but their predictions are essentially the same. Thanks a bunch, > gam.1 <- gam(mortality.under.2~ maternal_age_c+ I(maternal_age_c^2)+ + s(birth_year,by=wealth) + +
