Apache mod_cache/mod_disk_cache...?
Is anybody using mod_cache/mod_disk_cache with Puppet? I found a post talking about it here (http://paperairoplane.net/?p=380) and I tried to implement it .. but I found that nothing was being cached. Near as I can tell, Apache refuses to cache any URL that has a query-string attached to it: (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/caching.html) > • If the URL included a query string (e.g. from a

Apache 2.2 itk - 404 not found
Hi all, Freshly installed apache 2.2 with httpd-itk (from epel). When I try to access apache's document root from a browser on local network, it always serve me the Apache welcome page, even if I have a index.html and a phpinfo.php file in the /var/www/html folder. If point the browser specifically to http://server/index.html, I get a '404 Not found error'. I'm running CentOS

I ran an experiment: cd /tmp/ rails app1 rails app2 cd app1 script/server rails put a copy of lighttpd.conf in /tmp/app1/config/ and then started lighttpd http://localhost:3000 gave me the splash page. I shutdown the server I added something to /tmp/app1/config/lighttpd.conf server.modules = (

Output Compression in Mongrel?
I''d like to implement output compression in Mongrel (ala Apache''s mod_deflate). I have found a Rails plugin that, with minor modification, works. Is there even an advantage to moving the output compression from the Rails app to a Mongrel handler? Unless, of course, someone knows how to configure mod_proxy_balancer with mod_deflate... == Will Green Web Developer & IT

GzipFilter gemplugin now available
This GemPlugin will gzip your HTTP responses from mongrel if the client says that it supports it (eg, most modern browsers). I''ve tested it in IE6, Firefox 1.5 and Firefox 2.0RC3 Install: gem install gzip_filter --source http://edenli.com Configure (assuming rails): cd RAILS_ROOT echo ''uri "/", :handler => plugin("/handlers/gzipfilter")''

Using puppet with Apache mod_disk_cache and passenger over SSL
I have tried to setup Apache with passenger to host the puppetmaster but I also want to cache. I have no problems running puppet within Passenger with httpd. I also enabled mod_disk_cache within Apache. However, I still see my puppet client htting the puppetmaster and the puppetmaster compiles the manifest every time. In /var/cache/mod_cache, I can see that the data was properly cached.

autocompletion: hooking ''afterUpdateElement'' in Rails
Hi everyone, I need to trigger a Rails action after the autocompletion is completed (when the user has selected an option). From the scriptaculous doc, I figured out ''afterUpdateElement'' is the place to be but I wonder if/how and where I can hook my javascript code to this event in Rails code (I''d like to keep using the helper, if possible)? I tried passing many

caching rails generated images
Hello, I use Ruby on Rails to generate images, which are delivered via mod_fastcgi to apache2. These images should be cached using mod_cache and mod_disk_cache. But it does not work. In Rails I set my http headers like this: expires_in 30.hours, :private => false @response.headers[''Last-Modified''] = im.serie.received

Integrating script.aculo.us into existing javascript codebase
Hi, I''m new to this mailing list, so first off, a big THANK YOU for the script.aculo.us and prototype.js libraries. I''m trying to integrate script.aculo.us into an existing pretty large Javascript codebase (see http://openrecord.org). I''m running into a problem with prototype.js and the existing codebase''s use of for/in loops over an Array.

Content-Enconding
Hi, With Apache one may use "mod_deflate" in order to reduce bandwidth by using e.g. gzip to compress the http traffic. I would like to use something similar for email traffic between mail clients to dovecote and postfix. My questions are: a) Is this established well enough in most mail clients? b) Can you recomment a good tutorial for this? Thank you very much

LiteSpeed Web Server 2.2 with Ruby Rails integration....
Fellow Rail users and developers, Right now the easiest way to run Rails is in combination with Mongrel. However, it may not be a good idea to expose Mongrel directly to the outside world in a high-load production environment. In-addition, Mongrel_cluster + proxy + load balancer have to be used even for a single server deployment making the unified setup more complicated than needs be.

Mongrel/Apache and static content
I''m looking for an easy way to have mongrel only serve dynamic railscontent, while letting Apache serve non-Rails content. Unfortunately,it seems that you have to segregate the static content in its ownfolder. That was also the case with the SCGI runner. I used thetrick outlined athttp://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.ruby.rails/23347 to managethis. I was curious if a similar

Hi Guys, I hope someone can help me out. I am trying to configure two applications to run on lighttpd and each app will have its own domain. My machine is running on Fedora. When I run my lighttpd with the following conf file, I get no error but when I check out my app, it dishes out a 404 error- the 404 being served isn''t the 404 inside the railsapp/public folder. Do hope someone

fcgi to run cgi scripts
Dear experts, I have rail site that is running lighttpd and fcgi. I want the default domain to serve the rails application, and I also want to have a virtualhost (bugs.mysite) to resolve to a bugzilla instance. Bugzilla is basically Perl application called through CGI. I tried to find pointers on how to set fcgi to run both rails dispatcher and other cgi scripts in a different virtualhost, and
