newbie question: p.values in a column
Hello, I have a vector (v) with 6 columns and 2000 rows. I am trying to do one sample t.test for each row (I know this sounds crazy) and put the p.values into the 7th column. I know I can access the p.value via t.test(v[i,])[3]$p.value; I know I can do t.test on the row by apply(v, 1, t.test), but I just couldn't figure out how to fit them together. I'd very appreciate your help!!

R: Including R plots in a Microsoft Word document
Greetings List, I am conducting some large simulations using R. As a result, I get many plots but I'm having some trouble with including some of them in a Microsoft Word document. Can any one tell me the easiest method of having copies of the R-graphs in the Word documents? Best regards Mahmoud [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Including graphics files in MS office / open office
Hi all, I'm trying to write up some recommendations for what graphics formats are most useful for inclusion into ms office and openoffice. There have been a few discussions on the list in the past, but I haven't seen a summary. These are the options I've seen so far, along with there costs and benefits: * high-resolution (600-dpi) png output (or tiff or jpg or other raster

metafile copy and R 1.9.0
Dear all, I'm running into problem in R-1.9.0 that hasn't happened with R-1.8.x If I make a plot with xyplot(), and use the menu to either save to a metafile or copy to clipboard as a metafile to export to eg Powerpoint, I can just copy a blank then. This does not occur with the classical plot(). Thus, I suppose that it may come from lattice or grid (going through the R-archives I

Font settings in xfig
Hello I'm using the xfig-function in R to export figures in fig-format. To use these exported figures in LaTeX, I first run a fig2dev to get a pstex and pstex_t file. However, in order to get the right pstex_t file (that is, with the text of the original figure) I have to change the font and special text variables in the fig files. I would like R to do this font changing job, but I can't

win.metafile and multiple plots
I'm having difficulty using the win.metafile command. I'd like to place three plots in one window and then save the window as a metafile. The commands I want to use are: win.metafile("mike.emf",width=3,height=2,pointsize=10) nf <- layout(matrix(c(1,2,3), 3, 1), heights=c(1,1,1)) layout.show(nf) plot(rnorm(10)) plot(rnorm(10)) plot(rnorm(10)) dev.off() However, I get the

Poor quality plotting symbols in Windows metafile
Hello, when I try to use the filled circle (pch = 16) in a Windows metafile, it appears highly pixelated rather than as a smooth vector. The other filled circles (pch = 19 and 20) are vector circles, filled with pixels. Results are the same whether I use windows() and save or copy as a metafile, or win.metafile() Also, some of the other symbols are misshapen, e.g. the diamond pch = 23 is not

multiple print commands in win.metafile()
Hi All, I need a file which I can import to MS Word, I'm trying win.metafile(), but it does not seem to support multiple print commands at once (please see below). Is there an alternative to get plots file which can be used in powerpoint/word? # R code: # this does not work; but same thing works with pdf() library(lattice) win.metafile("test.wmf") p1 <- xyplot(decrease ~

Save image as metafile
Hi, how can I save an image as a metafile? I know within windows you can do a right click and then 'save image as metafile' but I use Mac OS X...I know as well that mac users have a right click as well, but it does not work. Is there a command in R for saving images as metafiles? Regards, mentor -- View this message in context:

Print grid/ggplot to a metafile
Dear UseRs called Hadley, or Paul, I am trying to print an edited ggplot2/grid graphics to a metafile. With the commented line below it works, but when I edit the plot by uncommenting the line, it fails, because it's illegal to have 2 graphics in a metafile. It works with pdf, but even then I get two plots, which is a nuisance. I found a workaround by using windows(); savePlot, but it only

plots to metafile and x/y ratio
Dear all, I have a problem which I'm not sure if it is due to my machine or if I'm doing something wrong. I'm ploting a little map using plot(val, type="l", asp=1) where val is the object with the latitude/longitude data. In the screen the figure is perfect, and I can copy to the clipboard and paste it to other places. I can also saved using png() or jpeg(), althoug

win.metafile use
Platform: Windows 95 Version : R0641 Problem : I wish to plot and save a large number of graphics files in windows metafont format. Lost graph contents using Copy as metafile
Dear colleagues: I use R 1.9.0 on Windows XP. One of my common tasks is to get R graphs into Word documents. A open windows() device, almost always trellis.device() for me, provides great convenience with the right-click shortcut menu item "Copy as metafile". I typically have the History > Recording feature turned on as well. Since upgrading to 1.9.0, I have experienced an

Exporting R graphs
Hi, I have been a happy user of R for windows for more than a year, however, recently, I started using linux as my operating system and now I have practically switched completely. Of course, I still use R with linux, however, certain nice features of R in windows seem to be missing or hidden. I need help in basically two points: 1. In windows, I could copy the contents of a window graphic's
