axis manipulation in levelplot
Hi: I am trying to print multiple levelplots on a single page, and I am having trouble manipulating individual axes on the plots. I do not want a box around the entire plot; on some plots I would like to show only the x-axis (with line, tick marks and labels), and on other plots both x- and y-axes. I am working from Windows XP with R 2.0.1, and my code is below. Right now, the code results in a

Reduce/eliminate console printing time?
Hi: I have been writing some functions in R that are about 500-1000 lines long, and when I copy and paste the code into the R console, it takes about 20-30 seconds for R to ?print? and run the code at the console command line (and this is just for function definition - R isn't actually executing any commands). If I minimize the R console so that it shows only one line at a time, screen

ActiveResource find method and restful controllers.
Hi, What''s the best way to add support for the activeresource find method in the controllers in my rails app? As I understand it when you invoke something like: Person.find(:all, :params => {:name = ''toby''}) this generates a request of: GET /people.xml?name=toby Does this mean that in my index method in PeopleController in my rails app I have params[name] set to

ODBC Oracle access
Hi all, I'm having trouble connecting to an oracle database using RODBC under winXP. Unfortunately I can't really send a reproducable error as the initial call to odbcConnect seems to hangs R and I have to kill the session. I have been using RODBC to sucessfully connect to an MS Access DB that has tables linked through to the oracle database in question and that seems to work OK but it

Discussion on da-prompt-on-the-fly-forms
looks ok, but for me, the design could be improved :) For these kind of stuff I use Control.Modal: http://livepipe.net/projects/control_modal/ It doesn''t do automatic "prompt" forms, just modal boxes with whatever you want to add it. Maybe you could use it as the basis of your library. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you

reshape
Hello, helpeRs, I am attempting to reshape (either base R or package reshape) multiple .csv spreadsheets from a very unfortunate wide format to long format. ?Each spreadsheet looks something like this, after being read in to R: toy <- data.frame(year = rep(2007:2008,each = 20), month = rep(1:5,each = 4, length = 40), day = rep(1:2,each = 2,length = 40), hhmm = rep(1100:1101,length = 40),

plot.gam for glm objects.
All, I was wondering if someone had come across the problem of producing partial regression plots for glm objects in R? When using Splus in the past I have passed glm objects to the plot.gam function. To my knowledge this functionality isn't included in R ( I would be happily corrected here) and if someone had some code floating around to do this it would save me re-inventing wheels etc.

R pkg install should fail for unsuccessful DLL copy on windows?
If anybody else has this issue, please add a comment on https://bugs.r-project.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=17478 so we are more likely to get R-core to address this. Error in substring: invalid multibyte string
Thanks for the quick response Ivan. readLines with encoding='latin1' works for me (on Ubuntu). However I was more concerned with the inconsistency in results between substr and regexpr. I was expecting that if one of them errors because of an unknown encoding then the other should as well. Even better, if regexpr works, why shouldn't substr work as well? Incidentally the analogous

GlusterFS 3.3 beta on Debian
Hi, I'm attempting to install the 3.3 beta3 on Debian. The files are located in a directory that looks like they were built for Debian Lenny, here: http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/qa-releases/3.3.0beta3/Debian/5.0.3/ Note the 5.0.3 at the end of the path.. However, when attempting to install the .deb file, it gives an error about package libssl1.0.0 being missing. That

Question about Running C code from R
Dear R-devel, Apologies for sending what is probably a very simple question to R-devel: I am definitely missing something very simple and can't work out what it is. I've been trying to find the problem here for about a month and need some help! I am trying to work out how to run a C program from an R script. Rather than try the C program directly, I'm trying to get a much simpler

Error message: Bad value
Dear R help, In the middle of my session, I started receiving the error message "bad value" regardless of what I entered. I had to close R and restart it. When the error occurred, I was creating basic lattice plots, with no other add-on packages running. I am running R through John Fox's XEmacs interface, XEmacs version 21.4.20 on a Windows XP Pro machine with 2 GB of RAM. I have

ZFS core contributor nominations
The time has come to review the current Contributor and Core contributor grants for ZFS. Since all of the ZFS core contributors grants are set to expire on 02-24-2009 we need to renew the members that are still contributing at core contributor levels. We should also add some new members to both Contributor and Core contributor levels. First the current list of Core contributors: Bill

Excessive redraw in Lotus Notes on Wine 20011108
I compiled up Wine 20011108 from the source on my Mandrake 7.2 box without problems. I was pleased when I actually managed to get the Windows QuickTime player to install properly and actually run the player (albeit slowly). I also managed to get the SameTime installer to run, although the client still refuses to work. My one critical application on Wine however is Lotus Notes. It works pretty

flag day: ZFS on-disk format change
Summary: If you use ZFS, do not downgrade from build 35 or later to build 34 or earlier. This putback (into Solaris Nevada build 35) introduced a backwards- compatable change to the ZFS on-disk format. Old pools will be seamlessly accessed by the new code; you do not need to do anything special. However, do *not* downgrade from build 35 or later to build 34 or earlier. If you do so, some of

Tale of kernel 2.2.19 upgrading
I'm a bit of newbie to Wine in many respects so this may be obvious to more seasoned Wine veterans, in which case I apologize. I rely on Wine to run Lotus Notes on Linux - this project has released me from my NT workstation :-) So after a kernel upgrade from 2.2.17-21mdk (as supplied with Mandrake 7.2) to an unpatched 2.2.19 about the first thing I tried was Lotus Notes on Wine. Parts of it
