BUILD command fails with large R source file
Greetings,
I modified an existing R program (now it is larger than the previous
version), and when I attempt to perform a BUILD using the command
"R CMD BUILD --binary --force RAGG" the build fails.
It outputs a totally bogus message when it fails; not related at all to
the true problem.
I know the problem is the length of the R program because when I remove
some lines of code the

[newbie] how to find and combine geographic maps with particular features?
SUMMARY:
Specific problem: I'm regridding biomass-burning emissions from a
global/unprojected inventory to a regional projection (LCC over North
America). I need to have boundaries for Canada, Mexico, and US
(including US states), but also Caribbean and Atlantic nations
(notably the Bahamas). I would also like to add Canadian provinces and
Mexican states. How to put these together?

need help with matrix manipulation
I hope my problem is not too basic to post here. I am a beginner having
problems with some matrix manipulation. The data I am working with are
sites with hourly ozone readings and is in a matrix where each row is a site
and each column is an hourly reading. So for 10 sites, one day's worth of
data is a 10x24 matrix - column 1 is the ozone measurement for midnight GMT,
column 2 is ozone at

Please HELP: Problem with BUILD command
Greetings,
I am unable to successfully BUILD due to a file that apears to be too
long.
I know it it due to the length of a particular R program because if I
remove a line, even a comment line,
from the file it then successfully builds. However, if I add the line
back in, the build fails.
The file is only 14Kb long.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Mapping inode numbers to file names
Let''s suppose you rename a file or directory.
/tank/widgets/a/rel2049_773.13-4/somefile.txt
Becomes
/tank/widgets/b/foogoo_release_1.9/README
Let''s suppose you are now working on widget B, and you want to look at the
past zfs snapshot of README, but you don''t remember where it came from.
That is, you don''t know the previous name or location where that

Announcing FreeBSD 2.0.5 ALPHA!
It gives me great pleasure to announce the release of FreeBSD 2.0.5-ALPHA!
2.0.5A represents a significant improvement over FreeBSD 2.0R and is our
release-candidate for 2.0.5R later on this week. We're doing a short ALPHA
release in order to shake out any glaring bugs before rolling 2.0.5R and
moving on to 2.1R, which is the bigger goal. If you're looking for 2.1R,

What happens when unmirrored ZIL log device is removed ungracefully
Due to recent experiences, and discussion on this list, my colleague and I
performed some tests:
Using solaris 10, fully upgraded. (zpool 15 is latest, which does not have
log device removal that was introduced in zpool 19) In any way possible,
you lose an unmirrored log device, and the OS will crash, and the whole
zpool is permanently gone, even after reboots.
Using opensolaris,

Is it possible to securely delete a file from a zfs dataset/zpool once it''s been snapshotted, meaning "delete (and perhaps overwrite) all copies of this file"?
